dandave wrote "Dh did kick the bed's footboard several times, but all is well."

I thought it was just me! I must have tripped over the legs of the footboard 20 times during my stay at the WL. My son also kept bumping into it. We left Disney with a lot of black and blues on our feet! LoL! I think the legs of the bed protrude ever so slightly so that people like me, who walk around in a Disney fog, can keep walking into them.

We will be honeymooning at the WL from 12/11-18th and this will be our very first trip to WDW from Northern California.

We would love to have a view of the inner courtyard as well as be able to see the Lake and at the same time, not have to long of a walk to get that first morning Java (very improtant)

Which wing and floor would you choose??

also, can we get our "wedding ears" at WL or should our first trip be Down town to do some shopping??

Thanks so much

Disneymooners

First of all, congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

May I may the following suggestions?:
I'd recommend the North Wing in a floor as high as possible (JMHO) in an odd-numbered room (for the court view) First purchase: 2 mugs at RF for your daily dose o' "joe" at RF (BTW ~ those elevators that drop you (no pun intended!) right off by RF are SUPER FAST!! Second purchase: a set of bride-and-groom Mickey ears at DTD!!! You may be able to order them on-line through the Disney Store so you have 'em when you arrive for check-in (it definitely makes a statement!!;) )

P.S. ~~ Sending some M A G I C A L P I X I E D U S T ^ * ^ * ^ * your way!!:sunny:

Thanks so much for the much needed help!!

If I may ask though... why "as high up as possible"??

and just what kind of statement will we be making at check'in other then a silly one...he he he

:bounce: :Pinkbounc

actually, now that I think about it, we are pretty silly anyway soooooo:crazy: it sounds like it's off to DTD first thing for a pair of ears.

thanks again

I am honeymooning at the WL also, although we will be staying Concierge (my FH decided he wanted to get the Grand Plan so I have no stress- I planned the whole wedding and built a house all at the same time....) Anyway, I already have the Wedding Mickey ears from a previous trip that I went on with my parents and my daughter. The top hat doesn't fit him so he isn't going to wear it (oh well.) I also got these great Minnie Wedding headband ears from Disney Land that I like alot better than
the minnie hat because I won't have to put pins in my hair to keep it on.
I can't wait to get to the WL. Never been there, but have heard so many great things about it!!

I am worried about the transportation though as we are not renting a car thinking that Disney trasport would be the best way and we have a lot of PS early in the morning at Parks and other Hotels. That is not good from what I gather. I already changed my PS of Olivia's cafe because my Coordinator told me that we would have to call at Taxi. How crazy is that!!! Anyway, just a little venting. :-)
Congrats on your upcoming wedding. I can't wait for my Disney Honeymoon!! Only 17 more days!!!!

For Humphreythebear -

Hello again from NJ - we are getting closer to our vacation and I have one more question as I prepare my letter to fax regarding my room request. I was going to request two queen beds all along knowing that I will end up sleeping with my 4 yr old daughter but how comfortable are the bunks beds? My daughter is all over the bed which makes it difficult to sleep with her so I'm wondering if this may be a better way to go. Any thoughts? Do you think I would be comfortable in a bunk? I am 5'9" tall. (My husband and I sleep on a King at home so we would be to uncomfortable in a Queen). Thanks for your (or anyone elses) thoughts on this matter.

NJPhyl,

Your DD shopuld love the bunk beds. We just went in July and our DD is 4 and she loved them. I think it helps that it is something new. Also, they have rails on both sides that extend the whole length so she could not fall off without some effort.

Greetings... In today's mail, I received a post card from WDW inviting me to partake in an on-line survey about the Wilderness Lodge. (We were there two weeks ago).

Has anyone else here in the group received one? Just curious.

Ratpack -

Thanks for your response. Do you think I will be comfortable in the bunk bed? How was the Queen? More comfy than the bunk or were they about the same and is the Queen a "real Queen"? I think some hotels try and pass off a Full for a Queen. Did your daughter sleep on top or bottom? Thanks again!

NJPhyl,
Given your height, I would say that you might be a little cramped in the bunk. They have a headboard, footboard and sideboards, but they are roughly the same size as a single bed with a head and foot board. If you are comfortable in those, then you should be able to sleep in the bunks. As far as the queen beds go, I think they are Full size. Didn't feel as big as the queen I have at home. And our DD slept on the top with no problems. She had just turned 4 a month before we went. I think if your DD sleeps in a normal bed at home, she will have no problem sleeping in the bunks. Our DD just loved climbing the ladder and laying up there. To her it was an adventure I think.

Well, I am just about there. Friday, Nov 1 is when I'll be at the WL. I'm so excited!! We start our drive in a week. I am really looking forward to my husband and being able to celebrate our first anniversary there, and being able to get away from all the doctors and therapy.

Thanks for listening, and letting me share my excitement!

I am going to be there on the 10th and I can't wait. It's almost here! My fairytale honeymoon in Disney and we get to stay in the Wilderness Lodge!!!!
Are we there yet?????? I have been planning this trip since January when we made our reservations :-)

irishone1979 and Disneymooners, congratulations. you will have a wonderful time!!

I have a question. How much is it typically at checkin to upgrade to concierge for one night? what about to the honeymoon suite?

Thank you for your help!!

:( I'M BACK! - and I don't want to be!

I'll post on the trip boards later but I wanted to drop you a quick note here! (While DS tries to get back on schedual for napping I need to be quiet! ;)

LOVED THE LODGE!

ALthough I thought we would never get there!
The sign is only markedf or Fort Wilderness - and we didn't realize til after we went by it that it was the same entrance - thank god its one big circle - back around we went!

The building is spectacular! The Lobby is breathtaking. Our cm at check in was ok - broken english not cheery but did his job. Our rooms weren't ready though (and it was 3:15). THey gave us a little card with a number to call and gave us room keys (No idea where they were though!).

We went to Roarink FOrks and bought our mugs (GREAT INVESTMENT - DD loved that they leave cherry 'juice' in squirt bottle to make her own 'shirly temples' - I loved that I could add hot chocolate mix with coffee to make a 'mocha' coffee)

DS - almost 2 LOVED the bridge in the lobby! run over - look into water - run over look at other side, etc! After a while I got tired of chasing him from side to side and just stood on the end watching him!)

THE POOL-
Gorgeous layout - with the falls and the hot tubs! DD LOVED the pool slide must have gone down it 100 times in ten days! (DS loved it the first time when dad went with him - then they told us we couldn't do that and when he tried it on his own - not fun - he flipped over somewhere on his way down and came down face first in the water - so be careful on the slide with little ones!)
My favorite thing on vaca was to sneak out of the room at 6am leaving everyone behind! go to roaring forks make me 'mocha' coffee then sit in the hot tub ALL BY MYSELF! Noone was around except one groundsman! I asked him first and he said no prob! LOVE IT! THe stars were still out and it was SO quiet! Worth waking up early for!

OUR ROOMS-
We had requested connecting (with a friend) and bunks - standard view.!
:( No bunks - which was probably just as well (explain in trip reports).
:p Great View!
We were in 4007 and had a view of the pool - waterfall and lodge - (trees in the way of the lake)
I didn't find anything spectacular - or anything to complain about in the rooms
(oops except - the glasses! DS picked one up and dropped it on the only spot it could break the marble between the connecting doors! Everyday we had to hide them because housekeeping kept putting them back:rolleyes: 6 days in he broke another one!
Loved the showerhead options too!:)
Long walk to the elevators but right above roaring forks and next to pool and boat launch!
Loved the towel animals (except that one room kept getting BIG ones and the other little - which causes envy with little ones in connecting rooms!)

TRANSPORTATION-
I will NEVER take a Disney Bus again!
Loved the boat rides (actually chose to be on the boat during fireworks rather than fight the crowds!)
Loved the monorail!
Took the bus once - and once was enough! Thank god we had the rental to use! We attempted to go to DownTown Disney one night! WE had had a very relaxing day and wanted to stroll the shops and get a bite to eat! NOT!
First -our mistake- we got on the wrong bus (to mgm instead) had to go to camp ground - got to MGM were then told we had wrong bus - go toff waited for the right bus - then finally made it to DTD- more on that later- to go home we waited FOREVER for a bus (20 minutes seems like forever with kids!) then bus driver closed the door in our face as we went to get on!
Oh - then I seem him at the back of the bus boarding wheelchairs first (no prob - just should have said something) well obviously he couldn't work the equipment - another 15 mintes til we boarded the bus (very crowded)! Drop off at camp first (including wheelchairs) and finally back to the lodge!
ALl I can write for now!
DS will NOT go nite - nite I better go lay down with him ;)

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! I can not wait until we go in December, your room sounds like the area I want to be in.
We are renting a car (my first time) and from everthing I have read the buses to DTD are the worst time wise.
I can not wait to read your trip report

I believe somewhere on these 100 pages(100 pages, man we are really taking off) i saw that it was an extra 30 - 40 dollars a night just to recieve access to the concierge floor. I dont think that was to actually get a room up there I am not sure if that is during value or regular season.

Also concerning the honeymoon room. I am not sure how much it is a night, but for my wife and I do stay in one this december 7-11 it will cost us 2100 for the resort magic. Hope that helps.

BTW my birthday is november 1st so enjoy going to disney to celebrate my birthday, while i have to keep teaching these kids. LOL

...I, too, took the on-line survey back in August when we visited.

My comment re: queens beds that are like fulls ~~
The first 5 days of our vaca were spent at CBR and, indeed, they had true full-sized beds (VERY comfy, BTW!) When we transferred to WL for the next 6 days, the beds WERE, in fact, larger (and much higher off the ground!!)

pattyt ~
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at WL. Yes, the slide is SOOO much fun!! Also, I have my own horror story re: bus from DTD.....

(Hey, all you recent returnees from WL, don't forget to add "WL VET" to your siggies!!;) )

Disneymooners,
The upgrade Price is $35/night from courtyard view to concierge.
Our recent upgrade to concierge from courtyard for 4 nights was $133.20 inc tax.

Patty T,
Glad you enjoyed it. Re: Transportation: I now how you feel and I hoped it showed through the my TRs, which you were reading before you left! Looking forward to that TR!

I am really getting worried about this whole not renting a car thing. I will be just me and my FH on our Honeymoon, but we have a lot of things scheduled and PS to make. It the transportation that bad???

Sorry, I am just getting nervous and wish the wedding would get here so it can be over and we will be in Disney!! :-)

WL here I come (in 16 days!!)
