Ok I need some help here. I have decided on WL, if I can get a DC discount (booking for Dec 2003 next month), I am going to request a woods view, if I can't I will book a standard view, so here's my questions. I am going to go through DU so do I ask them for what I want ( bunk beds, MK side, over lobby etc.) or does that wait until it is closer to the time to go? I will also have an AP, so hoping for a discount there when that time rolls around. Any other advice about booking would be great too.

When you fill out your reservation form for DU, there is a comments section... They will want names and ages of all who are going and any special requests... go ahead and tell them then exactly what you are hoping for! They are great!!

Just got back on 10/12. I was reading back a few pages and noticed some inquiries on transportation. This is what we experienced during the week. The boat to the MK was never a problem. They appeared to have 3 running during morining and evenings and 2 or 3 midday. The only night we did not take the boat back from MK was after Wed night spectro. Took monorail to CR and the launch to WL due to long line for MK launch.

Never had to wait long for the buses. My only gripe is the stop the buses make at the FW Outpost. This easily adds 10-15 minutes on to a trip. One thing we determined was that there is not a big time difference in taking the bus to the TTC and then monorail to Epcot as opposed to bus directly to Epcot. We just took which ever came first. I think the longest bus wait we had was leaving AK to return to WL, about 15-20 minutes.

Ok, I'm starting to get nervous for our first trip to WDW and the WL. I started planning back in January, but now I'm afraid I'm forgetting something.

We have a courtyard view (thanks to a great code) reserved, plane tickets, ressies at airport hotel the night before flight, rental car at MCO, and PS's made. We'll be buying our park tickets upon arrival. Ressies are through CRO, so we don't have to pay for the room until arrival. Am I forgetting anything?

I have a tentative itinerary made out. I've been reading over this thread (took me several days) for anything I might be forgetting, but I am still feeling jittery since we're at the 40 day mark. What am I going to be like the week before?! Help!!!

I'm new to this so forgive me for being slightly clueless. I'm taking my Mom to the WL for her birthday for seven days starting next saturday. I've gone to WDW many times but never stayed at this resort and never faxed room requests in beforehand. We are staying in a standard view room and from everything I've read I think we'd be better off with a Lobby room but the info on the rooms overlooking the lake and other resort and MK sound wonderful also. How far is the walk from the resort entrance to those rooms? (I'm looking out for Mom) Does anyone have actual room numbers I can request? Should I let them know in the fax that the trip is her birthday present? Would they do anything special for her? She really deserves it!

Any help would be appreciated!!

We are so excited to finally have our dream honeymoon booked...Yahoooooooo!! This will be our first trip to Florida/WDW and the WL so any and all imput is needed and greatly appreciated. We have a courtyard room from Dec 11-18th and was wondering if there is anything else that we should request or book to make it all that much more special.



Also, should we pack for warm or cold weather? Sorry for being so clueless and I hope my future posts won't be a bother.

I can not answer your question about requests, since this Dec is my first time at the lodge, but last year we were in WDW in December and it was warm enough for shorts, but once the sun went down we need our sweat shirts, my daughter would change into long pants when we went back to the room. I was fine in shorts.

I would pack for warm and cold weather, shorts and long pants and then fleece or something to layer with to have all bases covered...that is what we are doing again this year.

Congrats on the upcoming honeymoon. DW and I took our honeymoon at Wl eight years ago. We were in room 1021 and it was great. First level, courtyard view. It had a king bed and a huge walk in shower that would fit two people (just in case ) and you could walk right out from the balcony onto the pool grounds.

Also, pack for warm and cool weather, but I would do layers instead of heavy clothes so that it is easier to add to or subtract from as the weather changes. And remember the pool is heated year round.

Disneymooners - hope you have a very special trip. You will love the wl. When you get there ask to be the flag family. I believe it is hard to get so ask as soon as you get there - you get to go on the roof and the views are incredible. the ewp comes by about 9:45, don't miss it, depending on where your room is you may see it from your balcony. we had a courtyard view - room 5067 (inner courtyard). It was great - we could see the pool, geyser, bay, etc. Have Fun!!!!

Expect the unexpected at WDW in December, pack for hot and cold. We usually wear layers. We've been there for 90 degrees and for record lows in the 20's in December. Have a great time!!

...on the packing!!! We were at WDW for XMas week back in '99 and it was FREEZING!!!! It was very cold in the early AM's but by 11AM, it got warm enough for short sleeves and jeans or shorts, but by 4/4:30 it started getting chilly real fast, and by the evenings it was just plain COLD!! (the lowest was 42 degrees ~ BRRRR!) Luckily, it warmed to 85 degrees, on the day we were LEAVING!! Go figure....

BTW ~ you will absolutely love the decorations for the holidays!!

Thanks for the great idea's and the packing information.. So far we have booked the MVMCP for Dec. 12th and the Fantasmic dinner.

another question or two for the experts:

Can we get a coffee maker in the room? I'm a coffee freak and kill for that first cup in the morning.

If it's possible, should we upgrade to a Honeymoon suite..what are the perks in doing so?

Should we get Wedding ears or will people think we are being silly (38 years young here)?

and last, Is it possible to see MK evening fireworks over the top of the builing if your in the inner court yard on an upper floor?

I would not worry about the coffee pot as you can get all you wish at Roaring Forks in your refillable mug. I just want to wish you all the joy and happiness we experience at the Lodge. I cannot begin to imagine having my honeymoon there. It is the most romantic place we have ever stayed and we have been married for 25 yrs.........Be as happy as we are is the best wish i could give you..........Do take the opportunity to take the boat some morning over to Fort Wilderness Campground and experience their all you can eat breakfast. It is wonderful. The boat ride is such a pretty one as well.

If you use the coffee in the room they will charge you per package. We stayed in the north wing with the world's fastest elevator just 2 floors up from RF. Get your mug first thing and it is well worth it! Congrats!!

PS If hubby will do it - get the ears.

Yes! Get the ears! I don't want to ruin the fun that awaits you but they are certainly worth the tiny humiliation that goes with them.

As for the upgrade to the honeymoon suite, DH and I spent our honeymoon at the CBR. We didn't spend enough time in our room to really need anything other than a standard room. But I would mention when you check in that you are on your honeymoon. Maybe they'll give you a room that is kind of "away" from everyone else so that there isn't an intrusion of "noise" !

DH and I will be at the WL from the 10th through the 14th, hope to see you there in your ears!

...to purchase the WL mugs!! They are SOOO worth it. If you are a big coffee drinker (like my DH) it'll practically pay for itself the first day!! Besides, the elevators let you off right near RF.....

The mugs are one of the best deals in the resort. Buy them!

As for the elevators, only the North Wing elevator is near the Snack Bar. South Wing-ers hike thru the lobby and down the hill past Artist Point.

I understand that the resorts have wheelchairs available for guest use, but that you cannot reserve them in advance.

Are wheelchairs available for the "length of stay"?

Do you arrange this at bell services or at the front desk on checkin? Is there a deposit / charge required?

Can you take the W/C to use in the themeparks? If yes, how do prevent it from being stolen when going on rides?
