Staying at WL in a couple of days.... I did not make any room request, I made my reservation through DU, and now I've realized I never asked for a smoking room.... Will it be too late to ask for one when I arrive, I've emailed my TA but he is gone to WDW himself, I didn't really want to bother anyone else at DU with this request, so I was hoping I could just request it when I arrive.... does any one know if that will be possible or do they assign rooms ahead of time and can't change them???? Thanks for you help....

bellsonmytoes, Hi! It is my understanding that there are very few smoking optional rooms at WL.

webmasterMichelle gave an email addy and a phone # here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=260333

I would definitely add the request before arrival, if it is important to you. It was to me, as I like to have a s/o balcony. BTW, I loved working with DU last December. They are great folks! I'm sure they can help you add that request.

Thanks Dandave.... I just sent an email, they will have it first thing in the morning.... I just hope it is not too late..... Thanks again..

Bellls.

Bellsonmytoes, You're very welcome! I hope you have a super trip! :D

From what I understand .... you should fax your request 3 days before you arrive.. no more no less.. the fax goes to the room assigner and and is put in a file and matched with your reservation ... if you send it too early it gets put in another bigger file to wait for your reservation to come over the computer and then hopefully it is matched up.... so If you forgot to tell CRO something then wait till 3 days before and fax your request but remember it is just a request and dont let not getting exactly what you want ruin your trip

The WL was everything we expected and more. All of the CMs and Mousekeepers were very friendly and attentive. I will be working on my trip report this afternoon (I have outpatient surgery scheduled this morning - nothing serious, but I will have time to sit and type for a while).

In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, I will do my best to answer. DH and I were in Room #5010 (MK side, NS, 2 Q beds). The room was very clean and well-kept. And we got towel animals on three occasions (alligator, bunny and Mickey Mouse head). Saw the otters twice. Enjoyed every minute!!

Let me know if you would like any information.

Greetings.....I have reservations for 2 rooms at WL for our 2 families. I'm new to this, and would appreciate some help with the following:

When a FAX is received at the Resort, how does it get matched with a specific reservation?
Do the "Room Assigner/Controller's" at the Resorts personally read the FAX's and try to match the requests with the reservations they receive from CRO?

My reason for asking is that I failed to make a specific request to CRO and I hope the FAX will be seen and matched to my Res#.

Thanks for providing a great service to us "Mouse Heads". ;-)

Retlaw,

First off, welcome to the DIS!!!

Second, do not fax your requests any earlier than 4 days before arrival. As far as matching it to your reservations, just put your reservation # under your name when you send it. I put the res. # and my address just to be sure it got matched correctly. I would be glad to email you my fax that I sent if you would like. Just PM your email to me.

Hi,
What did the balcony look like and what type of view did you have?

We had an open balcony (You could still see through the railing while seated), and it was a woodsview room. The otter pond was off to the left, and you could see the Contemporary through the trees. We could see the top of the train station at MK, but not the castle. MK did not have fireworks any night we were there because in the off-season they only have them on Saturday night. However the Saturday we were there they were having NoJ. So I don't know if you can see fireworks above the trees or not. The pine trees surrounding the room were very tall, so I wouldn't count on it. The view was very peaceful and tranquil. It seemed like a very quiet location (until a large group moved in next door to us ;) - they had three small children, so our last night was an interesting one!)

Hope this helped some. Let me know if I didn't give you the info you were really looking for.

We stayed in room 5030 (open balcony) a few weeks ago. We could see the fireworks no problem unfortunately 4 yr old dd is afraid of them, she wouldn't even let me watch them, she made me close the curtains!!

We did just miss a view of the castle, I could see the room next to us (5032) had a view of it. We could see the monorail running to the CR and through the trees you could see the CR.

We were right over the otter pond which was neat, but no otters sited:( - but did hear them at night, they sure make an unusual noise, but very soothing.

I would ask for a room further down the hall next time because we were right off the elevators and there was a lot of noise during the afternoon and at night pretty late from people coming off the elevators and going to the ice machine/vending machine (yelling, shouting down the hall, crying, laughing, etc).

I did ask for this room area so I wasn't going to change it. Some people aren't bothered (like my dd:)) by the noise but I'm a terribly light sleeper so I would go for room 5010 or so next time:)- which would be a little quieter.

The WL is a beautiful and cozy place to stay!!

Could you tell me anything about the Deluxe rooms ? wether or not they have rooms that can see the fireworks or nightime lake parade?

Thanks to any input

I just booked our rooms for next year at the WL. I'm sure through the past 85 pages there's info on Standard View Rooms, but I've looked at so many that my eyes are crossing soooooo......I was hoping that the people who have stayed or who know anything about the standard view rooms will help us out and tell me where I need to ask for. Room numbers, directions, etc. This board is so great and everyone here is wonderful.

We hope that the rates will come down and that we can upgrade to Courtyard but we're just glad to be staying on site and at the Wilderness Lodge. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Also, if we have the AP vouchers when we arrive and have not been to the park yet to change to AP "tickets" will that cause us a problem when we check into WL?

Thanks for everyones help!!

We have reservations for June 2003 with a Woods View with one queen and a set of bunk beds (our ds's love that idea). I was not planning on requesting a room, as we usually don't spend a lot of time there, spend more of it at the parks and in the pool. Am I going to be disappointed?

Also, does anyone know if there is a gym at the WL? I would love to be able to work out while everyone else sleeps so that I can eat when everyone else eats!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, there is a fitness center at WL. If you really want a workout, try pedaling a surrey bike to FW and back by yourself! If you're into jogging there is a nice trail to FW. I believe a part of it may be along the lake. Anyone know for sure?

If anyone is interested, the first installment of my trip report is up! It's on the Trip Reports board under "Mark & Angela - DAY ONE - The Arrival." I would post a link here, but I don't know how! I'm working on Day 2 now. I really enjoy re-living the memories, but I am longing for our return in November!!!

dandave helped me out with the link, so here it is:

Thanks dandave!

Thanks Aring75 for such great info on your first day! Can't wait to hear about day 2 and so on....

By mistake, this was originally posted to the general "Resorts" page. Obviously I am kind-of new to this site. I have been through most of the pages and tried to collect the info that I need (driving my DH crazy!). Thanks to Kimmar and 999ghsts and everyone else, you all are so helpful!!

I have a woodview room reserved for Dec. 8 for 5 nights. This will be our last trip for a while as we are being stationed in Japan for 3 years starting in April (military). I am trying to make this as magical as possible for my DD's (ages 4 and 2.5). I am trying to raise them to be Disney freaks like me! I just want to make sure that I have my room request right before I call CRO. I would like a view of the MK fireworks. Am planning on asking for a MK view on the 5th or 6th floor. Any help would really be appreciated to make sure that I get this right. Thank you!!

aring75, You are most welcome! :D

FeeFeeWhite, I noticed on the Trips Report board that you are leaving in just a couple of days... You seem to be such a sweet person. I hope you have the most fantastic time at the WL!! :) :)

thanks so much - I just love your quote on how to deal with your DH by quoting rack rates first!

We go to HRH on Friday and off to WL on Monday. I am packed!!!! and have my fax in hand to send Thursday AM. Thanks to all for your help.

I hope that I can help others when I return.
