NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

Thanks, again, for the room advice, 999 Ghts. I'll do just as you suggested and not worry about specific rooms and just go for the 5th than 4th floor.

One other general question for anyone. When I found the new codes and used them, I asked the CM at CRO what the rate would be for a deluxe room at the WL. To summarize, She quoted me $119 at AKL. I asked, "$119 for a deluxe room?" I was surprised at the price. She answered, "yes, all rooms at AKL, WL are deluxe rooms as these are considered deluxe resorts." I realized the confusion and politely asked what a “deluxe” room at WL would be. She then said she couldn’t find a deluxe room quote. I then asked what the concierge room rate was. “Oh, concierge,” she said, then quoted the rates.

My question is, are “Deluxe” rooms, and “Concierge” rooms one in the same? Is there a different term I should have used (I thought deluxes were termed Jr. Suites at one time)? If they are different, can one reserve a deluxe without concierge service, and a deluxe with concierge service? As far as rate structures go, is it Standard, Woods View, Courtyard View, Deluxe, Concierge? I’m not planning on changing room choices. I just was a little confused how rooms are setup and wondered.

Thanks again.

Sorry it took so long to reply.

Just wanted to let you know that with the new codes Jean (Magical Journeys) saved us almost $600 on our Deluxe Room for 12/7 - 12/14. Got the discount through the Disney Club. Original cost $2444.91, new cost $1857.96 (includes tax)

I would highly recommend contacting Jean, she did all the work and I saved all the money.

Johndavid,

Thank you so much for your insight. Boy Id say Jean really went to bat for you. That is wonderful. You said Magical Journeys huh. HUMMMMM Well you know where Im going next.! LOL
Thanks again.

I stayed in the Lodge last November and it was FABULOUS! From the time we pulled up to the door I knew this was special. The cast members were so nice, as was the front desk staff. Pictures do not do the front lobby justice at all! It is breathtaking!

Our room was on the 4th floor and was above the Cub's Den overlooking the path to the bus and the Villas. It was a lovely view and very quiet.

The Store was well stocked with all kinds of unique goodies and having a BOAT to go to MK on was fab! I can't rave enough about this place. The footbridge in the lobby over the stream. There is a small "geyser" that starts in the lobby, the stream runs out of the lobby into a small pool with slide and there is a large geyser that erupts outside as well.

You have elegance and solitude all together. Artist Point is an A+ place to eat. It came in 3rd over all to Citricos and Jiko on our gourmet Disney dining tour. FABULOUS FOOD!

The coziness of sitting in a big chair in the lobby in front of a HUGE fireplace, hunting for hidden mickeys and people watching. Come back at 2am after a night at Pleasure Island and the "night mice" are out buffing the floors and polishing the fixtures.

This place is not just favulous, it's home.

My dad wants to know if the fireplaces will be operating during the month of December...he saw a picture of the resort today and thought it was beautiful.

:jester: :bounce: dpic...WL is different from other resorts on this one. "deluxe rooms" are in fact what used to be "junior suites". "Concierge" is completely different.. At ALL other Deluxe/Premium resorts at WDW if you have a suite booked it does not matter what floor it is on you will automatically have concierge access. At WL you have to be on the concierge floor to have concierge access so the changed the name from "Junior Suite" to "Deluxe room" so that there would not be confusion as they do not offer concierge access to the "Deluxe rooms" I hope that makes sense, it seemes kind of confusing when I read it back, but I don't know how else to word it.

999ghsts,

I don't know how you have the time & especially the patience for all these questions, but I'm sure glad that you do! You have made yourself many many fans out here in forum-land. I'm sure you know that everyone appreciates every question you've answered & there have been plenty - I've read everything since page 1. So, add me to this list of grateful WDW guests... Thank you. The anticipation of the trip is almost as big as a rush as being there and talking about to you makes the anticipation even greater!

Anyway, enough of that stuff. Here's another question for you... We will be in the WLV in late September; we've purchased some points from a Disney Club Member. Is there anyway that we could buy access to the concierge area while staying in the villa? For the $35 a night charge, if it is offered to us, I believe we should try it.

Also, do you have any room number suggestions for us in the 1 br villas? We have 2 little ones, a 2 1/2 year old boy and a 6 month old girl. Don't know if we should bring a double stroller (back & front kind, the side-by-sides seem like a pain) or 2 single strollers, but I'm just a little nervous about this trip and want to make sure everything will go a smoothly as possible.

Any suggestions you have on ANYTHING would be a great help.

Again, thanks!

Mimi

Since the "Deluxe rooms" have more actual room - Does that mean that they have higher occupancy?

I am asking this because our party will consist of two 22 year olds, one nineteen year old, and one 15 (turn 16 while there) year old. So basically, we have 3 adults. The cost for a Standard room with the new code is $119, plus the added adult room makes it $144. If the deluxe cost is close to this and doesn't charge for the third adult, then we would rather do that, then go with a standard bunk room (requested of course), and just pay $25.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks so very much for your time.

No questions this time. I just wanted to thank-you again for taking your valuable free time and spending part of it answering questions for a nick-picker like myself. I wanted you to know how important this information is. A trip to Disney is more than a mere vacation--it's making memories. My children will only be young such a short time, and I know this trip will be remembered their entire lives. From the choices of lodging, entertainment, theme parks, where to eat, etc, etc, the Disney “experience” is pretty intimidating. So, to have good information to make the best memories possible is extremely valuable.

I wish I could show you my gratitude, but I understand your wishes to keep a low profile. Please know, somewhere in my world I’ll remember your kindness and pass it on.

Regards,

Dan P.

So, We decided to do the family magic tour and add an extra night onto our stay. BUT..WL had no availability for a standard room for the extra night. I'm waiting to hear back from Dagny @DU to see if we can switch rooms for the last night..or to see how much more a woods view would be for the entire trip or if there's even any availability for the woods view for all nights. Oh well, if not we could still stay at the park the whole last day and stay off site, but not really the way I'd prefer to end our vacation :(

Oh boy 999ghsts -
Heres yet another question -
How about OCtober for the fireplaces? I would LOVE to see the one in the lobby going!
Thanks A bunch!
You are priceless!
I think I will take you advice and request a 6th floor room - I think after long days at the park we'll sleep through anything! :) I could STAY IN the service area and just be happy to be there!;)

I was wondering if they still do the ladybug release at the Wilderness Lodge and if so what day would it be on?

We did this at the Grand Floridian last summer on our anniversary and it was a blast

Hello everyone! I am new to this board. I have been lurking around for quite a long time, for at least a year actually. Finally registered for a login and want to thank everyone on the board, especially 999ghsts for so generously giving her time to answer all the questions which would have been my questions.

I am quite a Disney-novice compared to all you guys here.
But I love everything Disney since our first trip to WDW with DH, DS and DD 3 years ago. I have been hooked ever since! We are planning our fourth trip this year, and our first during the busy Christmas week. Reading the wealth of info on this board as well as all the helpful links over several weeks finally convinced us to switch to WL. We can't wait to see the roaring fireplace and the Christmas tree in the WL's lobby! Hope to see some of you there!

Thanks again!

Ally

Hi,Dilemma solved. We were able to upgrade to woods view AND we added the extra night. I just have to go back through the posts and see if there's a MK view available from the woods view.

Duck

Update: Actually when Dagny went to call in the morning, the availability was gone. The courtyard view was too much more money. So it looks like we'll just stick w/our 3 nights, and maybe we'll get lucky and the extra night will open up before our check out night.

DisneyAlley,

What dates in December will you be at Wilderness Lodge? We will be there Dec. 18-24. This is our first stay at WL also. Isn't this forum great? It's been so helpful in planning our trip, especially with all the info that 999ghsts gives us. How old are your children? I'll be there with my DH, DS#1 (age 13) and DS#2 (age 11). I can't wait!

Looking for info on layout of rooms in VWL... if a thread on this exists, just send me there! DVC board didn't seem to have much info on this. Specifically, we are looking at 2br dedicated, NS. If we could have a view of the water, great (I think I did request pool view, but as much to keep us near elevator as anything else! Plus, we had heard that at far end, there is a less-pleasant view of a maintenance area -- the infamous "garbage-view" as it has now been dubbbed in many threads). SHould I request a specific room #? I know there's not many 2 brs there (44, I think?), so I know already my options are limited... if anyone has the # for a great 2 br dedicated, I'm all ears! (mouse ears, at that!):earsgirl:

Hello Disney Folks,

This is my first time posting although I have been reading & enjoying these boards for several months now. Thanks to everyone for all the invaluable information and especially to 999 ghosts, you are a wonderful ambassador for WDW and obviously a very special person.

I will be coming to WDW & staying at WL (can't wait ) Aug 12 - 19. This is a special trip for my sis who has had a year of heartbreak and suffering (so I want everything to be especially nice for her) and WDW is her most favorite place in all the world!! My two DD's will be coming with us and thanks to my oldest DD, who is a parttime CM at our local Disney Store, we got a really nice rate.

We had reserved 2 rooms on the concierge level & it really sounds nice but arfter studying these posts I was concerned that we would not like the enclosed balcony. Soooo I called CRO & changed us to courtyard view, no concierge (no 7th fl).

But now I'm doubting that decision and was looking for opinions from any of you folks who have been to WL & especially those familiar with the concierege level.

999 ghosts, I would be especially interested in your opinion on this (I really want to make this trip as good as I can for my sis).
Also wonder if my daughter, the CM, could look into future employment to WDW while we're there. Thanks a bunch

Looking forward to magical time at WDW

Adrienne

Just wanted to share with you guys that my DH and DS are having a great time at the WL! They arrived 7-24 and check out tomorrow to head for 2 nights at HRH.
Tomorrow morning they get to be the flag family, which is so cool!
Also, since today is our anniversary (DH is at WDW and I'm at home  ), I decided to give him an anniversary present of 2 nights in concierge. I called and upgraded them ($45 per night) for the last 2 nights. They were in a nice woods view room, and now they're livin' it up in concierge, with a view out over the pool and Bay Lake, and all those nice little goodies all day long:) . Wish I were there!!

I have a quick question...does anyone know if WL has hot chocolate available for the refillable mugs? I read one place that they do, but I just heard someone say they don't. Does anyone here know?

Thanks!!:D

Kaycee

We had hot chocolate there in April. I think they are Carnation packets, right next to the tea bags.

:D

First of all, 999ghsts, you are my new idol! Amazing display of Disney Magic on a daily basis! Wish I could write a letter of appreciation to your boss!
Anyway, here goes w/ my question- Ive been reading this thread for about a week now (just got through it- lol) and managed to come up w/ a zillion questions- the most important one being as follows:
We've reserved Courtyard View for our 10/11-10/25 WL stay this year. I read on this thread that (if available) you can upgrade to conceirge for only an additional $35/ night. My frustration (now that the concierge bug bit me lol) is that there dostn seem to be any availability in conceirge for those dates- is it because its such a long stay or is it b/c there arent alot of concierge rooms at WL? Im checking the WDW website ressie system daily and the only avail I get is for courtyard. Is it a possibility to just stay part of the vacation (preferably the last part) in concierge? That kind of sounds like a pain in the neck to move, dosnt it?
What is your opinion/comments on this silly issue of mine and is there anything you can suggest to help me get my conceirge room (oh and did I mention, we must have bunk beds lol) for 35/night?
Its still a win/win for me I know- Im still going to WDW for 2 weeks any way you slice it! Also, I have an AP so I can do concierge next year if I have to (sigh-grin).
thanks so much in advance!
NancyL
