Donaldsduck -

Thanks so much for posting about your trip. Sounds like you really loved WL. I was a little nervous about it today reading some earlier posts.

I'd like to ask you if you were in a smoking room - I've come to understand that 5 is the only smoking floor. If not, were you bothered by smoke at all from down the hall?

I'm a smoker on my way to WL in August and can do without the smoking room - just want to smoke on the balcony - but I think that's only allowed at all on 5.

Glad to hear transportation went pretty well -, too!

So when's your next trip????

Thanks again for your post!

melomouse~

Yes, my room was a smoking room. I am a smoker so the smoke didn't bother me at all. I must say though that it did smell like smoke in our room upon check-in. Since I am a smoker, I usually can't even notice the smell of smoke on clothes or in hotel rooms but I did notice it in our room.

If you are concerned about that, I would suggest that you bring a fabric refresher with you like Clorox Fresh Care or Fabreze. I use these in my home and they work great and leave everything smelling so fresh and good. They even make specific ones for smoke odors.

I forgot to mention in my earlier posts about housekeeping. Our housekeeper was named Jessica and boy was she awesome! Every day upon returning to our room, we would find towel animals and scenes she set up with my daughters stuffed animals. I got a chance to speak with Jessica and she was very sweet and nice. We loved coming back to our room to find her artwork!

I'm sure you will love the WL!

Donaldsduck - wah we didn't see you, but I had my lime green ribbon tied on my waist pack. The only green ribbons I saw were when we met up with other Disboarders for an Illuminations Cruise. Oh well.

Let's see if I can recap briefly. We checked in about 2:30 and our room was not ready til after 4. We were not happy about that, but it was room 4032, with a view of the otter pond - never saw any otters and a view of the castle. Oh my, going to bed after seeing MK fireworks and the castle changing colors is so magical. When I checked in, I left a goodie bag of cow cookies and told the CM to share. Did you get any 999ghsts? She said, I get you expect special treatment and I said, no, this is for you and your friends here to share, nothing in return is needed. We did get a signed picture of some characters and two chocolates. Don't know if that is standard or not. I thought the room was great! We were very close to the elevators and ice machine and never heard it, except when standing near the door. The rooms were always exceptionally clean, the otter pond was a bit noisy at night, but I liked it.
I had few problems with transportation. Never waited more than 15 minutes. The bus was only crowded once, from MGM to WL after fantasmic. Only shared with FW a few times. The worst was going to AK, that was a long ride. But all in all I thought transportation was good.
We ate breakfast and dinner and Whispering Canyon and I thought it was ok. Not spectacular, but fun. We ate a few times at Roaring Forks and that was as expected. Swam in the pool and hottub a few times, it was nice. One night the boys swam til 12:30 am! Found 2 hidden Mickeys - yeah for us. Saw a wedding there. The boys did the Mouse Boats and DH's was very slow and was promised a refund. It did not show on our bill, so a CM took care of it when we checked out.
Oh, and we were Flag Family on Friday. My family first complained and thought it was hokey, until we got to the roof. What views! Beautiful. And Stan is a wonderful, funny caring man.

On the mornings we did not have to be anywhere, my family would sleep in and I would curl up on a large leather chair with tea and my book and bask in the beauty of the lobby.

Any questions??

999ghosts, you must have given me some sort of internet pixie dust!
my travel agent just called (gotta do a plug- DebK of Your Magical Journeys) and got me concierge for the entire 2 weeks. I am so excited! whoo hoo!
It cost about 90/night more, but w/ the extra food, I think we'll save on snacks and maybe b-fast for my family of 5.
The rate was still lower than the aaa rate we were GOING to pay for courtyard view!
I cant sit still!
Now, one last (I doubt it- hee hee hee) question- how many bunk bed rooms are there on the concierge floor?
:p :p :p :p

Welcome home lucki4! I still can't believe we missed each other. We were early risers though and then early to bed so we must have been on different schedules.

Sounds like your CM at check-in was kind of like mine (not the nicest).

I miss Disney already and want to go back ASAP! I am going to try and swing early Dec. or at the least, next summer again.

:bounce:

Thank you Donaldsduck for your input and suggestions. Still not sure what my final request will say - 999 ghosts also suggested 4th floor lobby and use the front deck for my puffing? That last minute worry stuff is really catching up with me..

999ghosts - I called CRO yesterday(Tuesday) and had someone who didn't/couldn't/wouldn't clarify the smoking issue. That CM told me to call WL directly. Well, I imagined the sweet lady who answered the call at WL was YOU! She apologized twice for the CM at CRO and found the answers to my questions - not, of course quite as thoroughly as you! !!!! She was such a doll!! I know your Disneyspirit is contagious around there. Be on the lookout for more treats!!!! We're on our way in 12 days!

lucki4 - your enthusiasm is contagious! Thanks for your comments!

Melomouse & Chance's Mom...
Woo hoo! Almost there. Can't wait. Just a quick update...Dagny at DU (who is awesome, I must say) was able to get us the extra night. So we'll be staying 8/12-8/15 (leaving sometime on 8/16).
We were very lucky. Plus we got it at our $129/night rate. Just can't wait:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
Duck
PS Can't find thick lime green ribbon, so we may be going w/the thin curling ribbon. Keep an eye out. Isn't Kimmaro due back soon?

Hi Duck! Glad you got your extra night at that awesome rate! I know Kimmar is due back before I leave on the 10th--can't wait to read her trip report. I have my fax ready to go. I'll be obsessively checking the Orlando weather in a few days!

My how you've grown! You were just a 28-page thread when I saw you last and now look at you!!

999ghsts, kudos! Could you tell me (if you can share) how many rooms at WL have bunk beds?

We are going in November 2002 and were staying at ASMo until the AP rates came out, then we swithed to our favorite!!! Anyway, were hoping for bunks, but CRO said that none were available. I thought I might ask at check in.

Thanks!!! :teeth:

Duck-

Great you got that extra night - I know it took a bit of time & effort to make it go - but now you're in!

Curly lime green I was thinking - and definitely on 999 ghosts' treat box!

I even pre-bought brand new WL refillables on ebay, and now these Thoro sox Chance's Mom is so comfy in....

Much packing and working to do beforehand. TThe efficiency of you guys is awesome and help me get on track myself. You have the fax ready to go, CM??!!!

Oh - and I just finally caught that PBS show on National Park Lodges - WL seems to be very closely modeled after the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone. Their stone lobby fireplace is only 60 feet high, tho. WDW does it again!! It was amazing how much it looked like all the photos of WL!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

999ghsts,

I have reserved a courtyard view for 10/20 - 10/25. Is there rooms that have a courtyard view, bunk beds, near lobby, non-smoking, balcony not enclosed, that we can see the Water Parade. I want to be conveniently located to pool, restaurants, & transportation since we have little ones (3 & 5). I know it is a lot of requests but does this room exist

If we changed our reservations to woods view are there bunk bed rooms that you can see MK fireworks or is this a more difficult request to get fulfilled.

Which wing is closest to the boat ramp for the transportation to MK?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

999ghsts or anyone else that can answer...

I've read and heard that there is a boat that goes between the Contemporary and WL. Does anyone know what time they stop at night? I made a reservation for Chef Mickeys at 7 PM on a night that the MK is now scheduled to close at 6. I am wondering if I will have a problem getting back to WL after dinner? I would rather move my PS time up a bit than have to have a complicated bus ride all over the world. Thanks for the help.

The last boat from the Contemporary to WL was at 10:00PM in early July.
The boat from the MK leaves about an hour after the park closes (I think).
The bus from the T&T Center leaves about an hour after the park closes.

You can get the monorail from the Contemp to one of the last two places.

We are leaving tomorrow for DISNEY!!!

We check in on Sunday at the All-Star Music and then check in on Monday at the Wilderness Lodge! I'm just so excited and I can't wait to see the look on my childrens face when they see everything: the first look at the castle, the lobby of the lodge, the fireworks, hearing my father sing "It's a small world" to them like he did to us, etc., etc.

We'll be back about the 12 or 13 so I'll give you a full report then.

Have a magical week, I bet we do!

Robyn

Just got back from 6 nights at the WL. It is still the best resort in my opinion. Transportation was not an issue, buses and boats always running. Never waited very long at all. If anyone has any questions, I will try to answer.

And 999ghsts, thanks for all the info.

Welcome back Ratpack!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the lodge so much. I know that I won't stay anwhere but there again. We loved it too!

I just booked the Wilderness Lodge for Aug. 2003. I have a couple of questions since this will be my first stay at this resort. I booked two standard rooms and one deluxe room (junior suite). I requested that all rooms be close together -- is that a poosibility? Are the standard rooms near the deluxe rooms? Also, my other question is where are the laundry rooms located and how big are they? Any help in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

999 ghsts~
From what I gather from this forum, you are the authority on all that is the wilderness lodge! So this question is for you...or anyone else who can answer it! I know that there are quiet standard rooms and not so quiet ones that are over the service area, but that the noisey ones have the great views of the castle etc...give or take the time of year. We will be leaving in a few days and as time moves on we need to place our room assignments. 1. Considering the time of year...are the trees to full to even see the castle? 2. If not, can you give which room numbers (or even the floor numbers) that you know have good views so that I can reqest them? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated even if you can't provide the specifics!thanks!
