BIRNBAUM'S BOOK STATES THAT:
water mouse boats can be rented at the Grand FLoridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Contemorary....etc!

I don't know first hand but thats what the book says! :)

OK... just finished skimming through this thread... we just booked a standard view room for out trip in Oct (upgrading from PO-R due to the new codes that just came out)... Which floor/room would have the better views? I know since its a standard view so I shouldn't expect much.

Hey Shafke -
I just did the same thing!
What date in October? we will be there 14th-23rd.
I've read through a lot of this post today and it sounds like every room is good for one reason or another - it depends on what YOU are looking for - A view? convienence? Etc!

I just booked WL courtyard view!!! (11/30-12/7) Earlier this morning I was told there was no availability with CKO code. We were thinking about staying at PO-FQ, but really had our hearts set on WL again. Late tonight it became available! Best of all we'll get to see the Christmas decorations. Ranger Stan, Amanda, and 999 ghsts we're coming back!!!!!

sueanne,,, maybe I can help.. We were in the south wing.. I know what you are talking about. We had a veiw over the pool. I had requested near the end of the wing. We kind of got in the middle. It turned out to be better. At the end of the wing there are only steps... We were kind of close to the elevators. they were where you said it kind of juts out near the water fall. If you are at the end, it would be kind of a long walk to the elevator.. We were on the third floor. We did have some trees that kind of blocked our veiw of the pool. but we could see the gyser and the waterfall really good. If you look at the pictures you will see the trees I am talking about. We looked out right into the roaring forks.. I liked where we were. If I would of been at the end, where i thought I wanted, it would of been a long walk to the elevator.. maybe the forth floor would have been even better... hope this helped... corvair

Woo hoo!! :bounce: I just found this thread Saturday evening, and this afternoon I finally finished it! I feel like I'm now a Wilderness Lodge expert, and I've never even been there!

999ghosts, it's people like you who put the magic in Disney. I hope I have the honor of meeting you during my WL stay.

I'll be staying at WL December 18-24, made my reservations yesterday for standard room, requested bunkbed nonsmoking 4th floor over the front desk. :jester:

999 ghosts - thanks for all your info!! I hope I get to meet you.
We'll be at WL for Christmas. I'm staying in the Villas, but the other 3 families are in the lodge. One has booked a deluxe room - will it be possible for the other 2 rooms to be nearby? Thanks!

Great posts 999ghsts. You have a wealth of information and i appreciate you sharing it with all of us. Now my questions if you dont mind:

1. I will be there Dec 7- 14 and i have just upgraded to a courtyard view. I have read most of this thread and i do no want to have a view of the WLV pool and would like to see the main pool or better yet the lake. Can you tell me again since i may have missed it(i apologize) what are the rooms to request to have a good view without the balcony obstructing it?

2. are all the courtyard rooms non smoking or is it something i have to request and how would it effect my 1st question?

3. Just to doublecheck. I should make my request to the folks at central booking as well as faxing my request 3-4 days before i arrive. is this correct?

4. I will be arriving around 12-1pm on Dec 7. I know the room will probably not be ready when we arrive but does the earlier you arrive effect if you are more likely to get any requests?

5. Flag Family. Do you ask to sign up for this when you checkin or is there a separate guest service desk for this? also along those lines, will we get our tickets that come with our package at the checkin area or at a guest service area?

6. lastly, can we check our luggage in with the Bellman if our room isnt ready so we can go to the parks right away? Will they automatically bring up the bags when the room is ready or do we have to check with them when the room is ready?

Thank you for all your help.

What a great thread!!!
I have booked a courtyard view for this December (I know it is a long way off, but I am so excited to have been able to upgrade to the WL)
anyway, from reading these posts, I think I understand the lay out...for a nice view it looks as though a room over looking the main pool area, on the 4th or 5th floor would be good, now to be close to roaring forks area of the resort, would i ask for the north wing?
Has anyone stayed in the courtyard view rooms that also over look the lobby? Is the view of the courtyard area nice?

First off, 999ghts, it's so thoughtful of you to take time to respond to so many requests for information with your free time—especially when your job is filling room requests! So, if you take time to reply—thanks!

Next, I’m feeling so lucky to have upgraded to WL. The new codes made a 7 day vacation at WL possible when I never thought I’d be able to do it (due to this site and Mousesavers, I saved about $600!). Now, I have a Woods View ressie, and I’m wondering which room would be best for me and my family.

My main requests are non-smoking and bunk-beds. 999Ghts, in a previous post you mentioned, “best rooms in Woods view are the MK side overlooking the otter pond. 4th or 5th floor, the little pond off of these rooms is very peaceful and from some...not all, but some of them you can see MK and possibly the fireworks.” My question is whether these rooms are lobby views, and is the 5th floor here a smoking floor? I have thought the Woods View lobby rooms would be interesting, but I’ve heard they can get noise from the service area.

Next, is a question about asking for complimentary (i.e. “legendary”) upgrades at check-in. If I ask about an upgrade at check-in (we’ll be there the last week of October), what are my chances? Also, are complimentary upgrades the last of the “less desirable” rooms left? I just wonder because after taking the time to research and request specific rooms if I will I be better of keeping a “choice” woodsview room instead of a “leftover” courtyard view?

Thank-you for any replys.

We will be there 5th-12th. what I would be looking for is a possible view toward the Seven Seas Lagoon to possibly see the monorail.. DS loves trains...

Why aren't we listed at the top anymore? I had to search through two pages to find my favorite thread!!

I just can't function without my daily dose of the WL!

It looks like all of the resort FAQ threads have been merged under 'WDW Resort Threads.' With so many resorts I guess they were taking up almost the whole 1st page.:D

I just tried a new code for my existing reservation.

I was told that the code wasn't available for my room . . . but . . . I upgraded from a standard to a woodsview room and STILL saved $33.00 in the process!!

So now I'm wondering about woodsview rooms. My biggest concern is that my room is N/S (nowhere near smoking, if possible - I have a real asthma problem). I am asking 999ghsts (the WL guru) or anyone else who knows, is there a particular area I can ask for without sounding too pushy or specific?

Just being at Disney and enjoying the WL will be such a treat that I probably wouldn't notice if they put me in a closet! But it will be DH's birthday and I would like everything to be nice for him.

Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed!

Just wondering...the one lobby courtyard room on the 6th floor with bunkbeds, is this one non-smoking? Can I request that specific room number? Thanks!

What is the fax number that should be used to phone in special room requests? I will be sending mine on Monday. We arrive at the Lodge in 8 days. I can't wait. It is driving me crazy. There is nothing left to do but wait. All the plans are done!

Great news - they get to be the flag family on the 29th! It should be such a cool experience for them :D .
I had requested a 5th floor room with a MK view if possible - they got Room #4018 - anyone know where this room is??
They asked about upgrading to concierge, but $45 more for 5 nights just isn't in the budget right now. . .
Wish I were there, too!

999ghsts,

We just left VWL and had a magical trip. Everything was just perfect. I will post more about my trip when I have time. I talked with a CM this am at the front desk about 10:30 before I left. I questioned him about leaving a package for you, but he told me since I could only give him your user name on this board there was no way you could be found and receive it. I explained that I just wanted to leave it just to say thanks, because you had been so nice helping and answering questions. Sorry it didn't work out.

Becky

Sorry I said 6th floor and I should have said 5th floor lobby courtyard room with bundbeds. Is this one non-smoking? Room number? Thanks!
