999ghosts--Have searched and searched (to no avail)and I just posted a thread on the resort boards about this.(no responses as of yet) and wondering if you could tell me if WL still offers a "Picnic Cruise"? It is listed on the PS Calulator, but I have never heard anything about this...I have read this thread throughly..all 68 pages! Thanks for any info you could give me...debbi

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about there land/sea package since the CBR closure. I have reservations in a category 8 at CBR. Has anyone gotten upgraded to a category 7 at a deluxe resort? Actually I had my TA make the reservations at the WL, but she says she is still waiting for something to come out about the cruise part. Shouldn't they have heard something by now?

Yes, I know this is a silly questions, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I'll be requesting a coffee maker for the room and was wondering if there will be access to French Vanilla creamer. If not I guess I'll have to bring some from home.

Thanks for any input on either subject.

I just wanted to let houstonmouse know that Ranger Stan was there last month for our flag family. He is a hoot! Such a sweet guy. Just added immensely to the flag family experience.

... I just posted days five and six on "Trip Reports" board, which includes details about WL......:D

Hi Houstonmouse!

Can you believe how quickly it goes?? We started planning our trip a year ago. We actually booked our rooms in January (of course we rebooked with the codes that came out). It is now almost here. My son watches his sing along disneyland tape on a daily basis. I keep having to remind him that some of those rides are not at Disney World but he gets the point of it. He is 3 and really looking forward to going. Are you staying at the lodge too?? I've been wanting to stay there for a long time.

Just returned yesterday the 12th from 9 nights at WL. Well for the price it was ok. If I had had to pay full price I would of thrown a fit. The lodge is beautiful, but the rooms need repainting badly. We did have a great view of the fireworks from MG and could see the castle through the trees. coner room so was quiet. I cleaned the room when we got there. To tired to make this very long. If you have questions. Fire away.

I was wondering what it was you did not like about the WL? We were there in June. thanks....corvair amy

Thanks for the info 999ghsts!! I forgot about that sheet. OK i will remember that too!! Addin gto my list!:)

My 8 y.o. wanted to go to the Cub's Den one day to "check it out". There was a young woman there with an (I'm guessing) 18-month old (really cute!!) little girl, and they were coloring. It was an "open house" type thing, and your child could stay as long as they wanted, as long as a parent accompanied them. My son decided to color some animal postcards to give to his aunts as souvenirs. There is a section with computers, a giant tv screen, toys, a coloring/drawing center...a great way to break up the day's activities. After that day, my DS wanted to visit it EVERY DAY!!

Thank you Kimmar!! That sounds like a lot of fun! I know my 4 and then 2 yr old will love it. Hopefully my soon to be 11 yr old will too!!! I keep wondering why I dont remember this from our 1st visit in 96, but them I was on my honeymoon and no kids with us. LOL Guess thats probably why.:p

...to refresh your memory, as soon as you exit the automatic doors beyond the mercantile to walk towards the bus depot, it is just on your left (before the door -on the right- to the arcade). Hope this helps.....;)

We are staying at the WL for the first time in October. :smooth:
I have booked a courtyard view, n/s, with a request for a king bed. N/S is most important to us. a queen bed is fine.

So....I am curious if we should reqeust anything or just play it by ear. I have read the FAQ's and the only thing I would like other than a "true king" would be a nice view of the lake.

Are there rooms with views of the lake? can we request that?

thanks !!:smooth:

Just got back from the WL!!! We ( DH, DS's 11&8 and myself) stayed 8/4- 8/10. We checked in about 2:30 and told we were given a complimentary upgrade from standard to woods view, room 6120. This view looked out on trees and the Villas. And we also got the bunkbeds we requested! What a way to start our week!! The WL is BEAUTIFUL!!! The lobby, the rooms, the pool, ( oh, the waterfall!) everything!!! I agree with other posters the boat to MK can take a while when it goes to Fort Wilderness first. After 3 it switches to WL first. But, aside from that, the transportation was great!! A few times we only shared the bus with a few other people. And a few times we were the only family on the bus. One morning when we went to FW to pick up my DH did stand to give his seat to an elderly woman and also one evening. Those were the only times they were completly full. The morning we went to TL, a very nice CM asked where we were headed, and we told her and she held the bus for us and just the 4 of us got a nice ride to TL. The food was good and the CM's great! I am so spoiled now! I can't imagine going any where else!!

Hello Everyone! This is my first post, but my sis(Kimmar) has been a disboard junkie for some time now. I also returned last week from my 8 day stay at WL. On our last day, we were very fortunate to have the honor of being the Flag Family for the day. How exciting and fun it was to be on the roof of WL with such a magnificent view. By the way, Stan is still there and doing a great job. This trip we decided to try the Discovery Magic Plan, so we had an opportunity to eat at some of the greatest Restaurants on site. Also, (unlike Kimmar) transportation for us was great. We never waited longer than 5 Minutes for a boat.

Can anyone who has just come back from WL tell me if the air conditioning is controlled by motion sensor???? Have seen a couple of posts for other Deluxe resorts which use this, and people have commented on how hot it gets in the rooms especially at night. DH is rather skeptical about this... Please tell me its not so at WL!!!

It was not controlled in our room at the WL. Every time we returned to the room the mousekeepers turned the thermostat down to 55 degrees!

I am still trying to get a feel for a room location for our upcoming Christmas trip. We have a standard room reserved. Would it be too specific to request a 6th floor room facing MK near the lobby? Thanks so much?

Thanks Kimmar067! Ive got that saved on my list too now!!! What a list im gonna have! LOL

So glad Ranger Stan is still there. He is a hoot and you can tell he really loves what he does. We will inquire about being a flag family during our stay, but if we can't, we'll still search him out to say hello.

Zachsmom - Yes we are staying at the lodge this trip, Oct 2 thru 9. It will be our 2nd time. It's our 2nd time to WDW too, and we couldn't bring ourselves to book anywhere but WL. We found everything, from the transportation to the CMs to the beauty of the Lodge itself, just top-notch. We have 3 DDs, but they have no idea we are going because we are surprising them. And on top of that, my parents are joining us for the week. They live in AZ and booked a flight to Orlando thru Houston (where we live) so after surprising the girls with news of the trip, they will have the additional surprise of getting to the gate at the airport to find grandma and grandpa there waiting to get on the plane with us! Needless to say, I am getting too excited for words! This will be my parent's very first time to WDW and I am just as excited to see it thru their eyes as I was the first time with my DDs. The Lodge will be the icing on the cake!

Have you been to WL before? If not, you will love it and so will your son. I am sure this thread has already convinced you of that. (Yea to Kimmer for starting this awesome WL forum!) :bounce:

I thought the lodge was beautiful. Our room needed sweeped and there was stuff on the floor. Marks all over the walls. The sliding glass door was broke and wouldnt close so had to call to get it fixed. Were there 5 days when my husband called housekeeping and requested we get the sheets changed. Had to call to get the burned out bulbs replaced. No pad or pen requested these several times before we got them.
The housekeeping service was lousy. When we did call to make a request they acted like we should be grateful to get to make a request. We were not treated like the paying customer who deserves good service.
We were so looking forward to staying there and after the repairs were done and I cleaned the room everything except sweeping we enjoyed it. Was just expecting more from a deluxe resort.
