:bounce: Hello... another Arizonan here.... Just had to pop in and say hello.:p

But I also have a question, I have a Woods View room reserved for Sept 12-15.... anyone able to tell me what that means... and where I might be. I haven't put in a room request, and really don't plan to, just kind of wondering about the view...

Thanks....

Trudy..... Ajo, ARIZONA.... ps... where is our RAIN?????

Can anyone tell me if there are smoking lounges in WL? I did read where the 5th floor is smoking. But I am wanting a non-smoking room. I am sorry if it has been said before. I couldn't find it in all of these posts! This thread rocks!!!! It's very informative and for a rookie like me I need all the good info I can get! Thanks!

Hi guys. I need someone to convince me that WL concierge is really worth all the money. I did get a really good discount, though. I've never tried concierge before and have always wanted to. I already have all my PS's. Should I or shouldn't I? Money is tight but with the discount, it would be do-able. Thanks!

Hi Everyone!

We just got back from a four night stay at WL. Munch, Munch, Munch. Can you hear that noise--it's me eating my words. I am the one that has always said, "The hotel room is just a place to sleep". Well, was I ever wrong! Staying at the Lodge added sooo much to our Disney experience. I am going to use a list to quickly try to express how much pleasure we had staying at the lodge. I honestly can not say one negative thing--so this is only a list of "pros"

*the lodge is spectacularly beautiful. It is peaceful, majestic, but yet incredibly homey all at the same time. When you return, the CMs will say, "Welcome home" (I loved that) It does indeed feel like home!

*I had requested a standard room over the front desk (thanks 999 GHosts for the info) I got exactly what I had requested. We were in the Lodge part, so we could hear really cool music and the pleasant lodge hustle and bustle. Our view was of a roof and the trees beyond- it certainly didn't feel like a "standard" view. We had a car, so it was just a quick walk down a couple flights of stairs, and we were at the front door. The best part was walking out of the room and being able to look out onto the lobby. It took my breath away everytime! Check was the smoothest I had ever encountered--we had a super nice CM- and our room was ready when we checked in at 2 pm.

*When we first walked into the lodge, my 6 year old said--"Mom, I love the smell of Disney"--he was right, the resort did indeed smell like Disney (made me want to cry!).

*Our room was very, very clean and well maintained. I read another poster say that she had to "clean the room" I can't imagine that, our room was perfect. I guess people have different expectations of "clean" (It was definitely cleaner than my house is most of the time;) )

*Transportation is simply not an issue, so anyone who has a trip scheduled can relax about this. The boats to MK were running constantly--we never had to wait more that a few minutes. If the boat went to Fort Wilderness first, it only added maybe 10 minutes. You would spend a lot more time parking a car at TTC if you drove, and to me sitting on a boat in the middle of Bay Lake was fun! We did drive our car when visiting other parks. Traffic was also not an issue.

*Roaring Forks is a great place to grab your am coffe and breakfast. We did have a delicious room service breakfast one morning. It was really good!

*DH had to attend meetings part of the trip. I ate dinner with DS one night at WCC and we had a blast. They have a nice wine list, and I had a delicious dinner. Usually I feel a little strange eating alone at a restaurant (DS was over at the Lincoln Log tabe most of the evening), but not at WCC--they make everyone feel welcomed! Don't forget to ask for ketchup--DS is still talking about it!

*The pool area is excellent for kids my son's age (6). He must have gone down the slide 1,000 times. He preferred the pool at WL to Typhoon Lagoon (could have saved some money there).

*One of the most fun things we did was to rent a mouse boat one afternoon. It was a gorgeous, blue sky day and we had a lot of fun out on the lake. We took the boat through the channel and over to the MK side of the lake. The views were spectacular.
DS kept saying "Go faster"-but the boats don't travel too fast (I was glad!)

*We were considering AKL for Jan. We drove over one afternoon, and knew that it just wasn't for us. It is beautiful, but the feeling the WL gives us is just unique! I am making our ressies today for WL in Jan. It was the only thing that made me feel better about leaving!

If you have any questions, please ask :D

Wilderness Lodge= Perfect resort for my family

Chance's Mom! So glad to hear that you had a terrific time at the "World", and especially at WL!! To us, it WAS everything we dreamed, and MORE! I was just saying to AspiringCindy (my sis) that, of all the WDW trips that we've made, we really got to enjoy WL and all its offerings the most!!

LoveMickey ~~
I will try to help as best as I can....the last room number on the North wing for the 1st section of the "U" is xx43 (my sister's room is 6043 - she was on the 6th floor) The odd-numbered rooms face the "courtyard" on the North side (I don't know how it works on the South side). Our room was 6045. Next to us was my DS-in-L; her room was 6047, and finally, my 3 DS's room was 6049 (BTW - this room had bunks!:D ). The view from my balcony was SPECTACULAR!!! It directly faced the waterfalls and you had a view of the pool and Trout Pass pool bar and a distant view of the lake. Rooms xx41 to xx35 (my DMom-in-L was in room 6035) directly faces the lake. From her balcony, you had a better view of the lake and pool, but you could not see the waterfalls from her room. (I hope this helps  !)

Hope all goes well!! Maybe we'll run into you when you return:)

Just a question to anyone who has stayed at WL recently...it's been a while so I know this changes from time to time. When you go through the MK parking plaza do you have to pay & get reimbursed for parking or do you show them your reservation? I know once we checkin we show our resort card when we go back and forth...what's the latest. We've experienced both scenerios in the past, thanks.

Just got back two weeks ago and all we did was show our room reservation and they let us through with no questions.

Trudy in Ajo, AZ........its a small world. ;)

I have read that you can sometimes see fireworks from the woods view rooms. that would be really fun.

kimmar067

Thank you for the info.

I does get a little confusing trying to decide on the room numbers.

We've always loved our stays and will leave it up to the wonderful CM's to fulfill our needs.

Thanks again.

Can't wait to get back to the Lodge.

Do you know if Ruben was still working in Territory Lounge?

...I couldn't tell you; you'll have to ask 999 when she returns. I frequented the Trout Pass pool bar when we lounged outside near the pool;) !!

DF99 ~~

FishBones is on Sand Lake Road just off International Drive....you can't miss it (it's on the left when you make a right-hand turn onto Sand Lake Rd) Bon apetite!!!!:p

I love the WL and have always wanted to try concierge.
The problem is (as posted before) we are a family of 5 (mom, dad, DD age 8, DD age 5 and DS age 1). Our next trip would not be until our son is probably 3 years old. Would we be able to stay in concierge with 5 people?
Thanks!

999ghsts - I'm sure you've already left, but I had to say how sorry I was to read your post. I can't stand it when bad things happen to good people. I hope that whatever problems you're having will turn out alright. I also hope that you find solace in knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of literally hundreds of people - you are certainly in mine!

Chance'sMom - Thanks for the great trip report, it made me so excited about my trip in September! I'm really glad you had such a good time, and that the Transportation Issues seem to be improving. I didn't know that you can take the water mice over to the Magic Kingdom side! I can't wait!

Bellsonmytoes - I'm no expert, but I did cut and paste this into one of my own files. It was originally posted by 999ghsts regarding woods view rooms.
<i>"Woods view rooms (also refered to as Lodgeview) are located above the Whispering Canyon (in the Lobby) floors 4, 5 and 6...these look out at trees, they above the front desk floors 5 and 6 also looking at trees, the first wing on the SOuth side floors 1, 2, 3, 4,5 and 6 facing the trees between the Lodge and the Villas and the rooms on the North wing facing MK floors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 these rooms overlook the "otter pond" and face towards MK with some (only a handful) being able to see the Magic Kingdom.</i>

Chance's Mom,

Thanks for sharing all the info on your recent trip!

Did your standard room have bunk beds? Did this room connect to its neighbor? What floor was this on?

Do you remember your room #?

Thanks again for sharing
:D

Hey Zonie Bellsonmytoes,
Looks like we will miss each other at the WL, will check in on the 15th, after doing the 3 Wonder Cruise, will fly out of Phx. on the 11th red eye from Vegas to Orlando.
Have fun, just don't get the WL mad at us Zonie's

Kimmar067,
I have finally gotten through this whole thread , whew, took a few days but it really is great. It was really neat starting with the posts from April of this year when most of you were planning your trips and now to read your reports on the resort.

My son chose the WL, we were going to stay at the Allstar Music but who could pass up the great deals with the codes! Now that I have read everything I could on the WL and then saw the pictures of the lodge at Christmas, I am sold.

Since I just finished reading your review of the resort, I really like the sound of the area that you stayed in. I think a view of the water fall would be so beautiful and being close to the elevator is a nice plus

Did all of your rooms have the bunk beds or did some have the Queen beds?

Chance's Mom,

Hi! Thank you for posting such a wonderful trip report :) We also took 999Ghost's advice and requested the standard rooms over the front desk for our stay in December. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed that location, I'm sure we will too!

Kaycee
