Hi Everyone!
We just got back from a four night stay at WL. Munch, Munch, Munch. Can you hear that noise--it's me eating my words. I am the one that has always said, "The hotel room is just a place to sleep". Well, was I ever wrong! Staying at the Lodge added sooo much to our Disney experience. I am going to use a list to quickly try to express how much pleasure we had staying at the lodge. I honestly can not say one negative thing--so this is only a list of "pros"
*the lodge is spectacularly beautiful. It is peaceful, majestic, but yet incredibly homey all at the same time. When you return, the CMs will say, "Welcome home" (I loved that) It does indeed feel like home!
*I had requested a standard room over the front desk (thanks 999 GHosts for the info) I got exactly what I had requested. We were in the Lodge part, so we could hear really cool music and the pleasant lodge hustle and bustle. Our view was of a roof and the trees beyond- it certainly didn't feel like a "standard" view. We had a car, so it was just a quick walk down a couple flights of stairs, and we were at the front door. The best part was walking out of the room and being able to look out onto the lobby. It took my breath away everytime! Check was the smoothest I had ever encountered--we had a super nice CM- and our room was ready when we checked in at 2 pm.
*When we first walked into the lodge, my 6 year old said--"Mom, I love the smell of Disney"--he was right, the resort did indeed smell like Disney (made me want to cry!).
*Our room was very, very clean and well maintained. I read another poster say that she had to "clean the room" I can't imagine that, our room was perfect. I guess people have different expectations of "clean" (It was definitely cleaner than my house is most of the time

)
*Transportation is simply not an issue, so anyone who has a trip scheduled can relax about this. The boats to MK were running constantly--we never had to wait more that a few minutes. If the boat went to Fort Wilderness first, it only added maybe 10 minutes. You would spend a lot more time parking a car at TTC if you drove, and to me sitting on a boat in the middle of Bay Lake was fun! We did drive our car when visiting other parks. Traffic was also not an issue.
*Roaring Forks is a great place to grab your am coffe and breakfast. We did have a delicious room service breakfast one morning. It was really good!
*DH had to attend meetings part of the trip. I ate dinner with DS one night at WCC and we had a blast. They have a nice wine list, and I had a delicious dinner. Usually I feel a little strange eating alone at a restaurant (DS was over at the Lincoln Log tabe most of the evening), but not at WCC--they make everyone feel welcomed! Don't forget to ask for ketchup--DS is still talking about it!
*The pool area is excellent for kids my son's age (6). He must have gone down the slide 1,000 times. He preferred the pool at WL to Typhoon Lagoon (could have saved some money there).
*One of the most fun things we did was to rent a mouse boat one afternoon. It was a gorgeous, blue sky day and we had a lot of fun out on the lake. We took the boat through the channel and over to the MK side of the lake. The views were spectacular.
DS kept saying "Go faster"-but the boats don't travel too fast (I was glad!)
*We were considering AKL for Jan. We drove over one afternoon, and knew that it just wasn't for us. It is beautiful, but the feeling the WL gives us is just unique! I am making our ressies today for WL in Jan. It was the only thing that made me feel better about leaving!
