I'm home and fed! Let me tell you, the waiting with the full bladder was miserable!! I'll try to get some pics on here at some point, because they gave me 3-one of both embryos and one of each by itself. The bigger one was looking even better by transfer. They used assisted hatching on both of them to help them along. The whole thing was fascinating. They hooked me up similar to an IUI/HSG/saline sonogram. Then, on a little tv screen, they showed my name with the 2 embryos under the microscope, showing that those were mine. Then, they came in from the lab with those, in they went, and I just had to lay there for 10 minutes! I didn't have DH come with me, which is apparently unusual. He's crazy at work right now and I knew I didn't exactly need him for this one. I did drive by his office on the way home to show him the pics. I stopped and got my favorite salad again (ok, technically I bought 2 so that I wouldn't be so sad when I ate it all), and came on home. I'm thinking about taking a nap soon. I'm sure one of my lazy cats will join me.

Allison-WOOHOO! Hopefully you won't need to hate me and we'll be doing this together! I understand the hate, though.

You guys want to hear a weird one? This couple was in there with an 8mo (again, that just shouldn't happen). So they're talking at the check-out, and it comes out that this is their granddaughter, and their kids are in their 20s. They're trying to have another one. I think she's actually already pregnant. Unusual, right?

This is a hard month for me as if I had carried my last pregnancy to term that little girl would be one this week. I really feel like I am running out of time as I will be 40 in October.
Repeat after me... "Forty is not old".

Glad things went well today. Sounds so incredible.
Now go feed babies those salads. Interesting that you bought 2 salads. Can you say twins? ;)
No, I dont' think that's unusual. As someone who is 40 w/ a very strong desire to have more kids, I think any woman, no matter what age, who can successfullly carry to term, should do so. :thumbsup2 If they're up to it I say More Power to them!!!!

I guess I just thought it was unusual because I can't imagine my parents having a kid younger than mine. It would just be so weird for me as their child, if that makes sense.

Courtney, I could never hate you, or anyone else on here. We've all been through too much! The ivf sounds very interesting. I don't think fertile people truly appreciate what a miracle pregnancy is. So when can you test?!? Also I do think it would be strange to have a sibling younger than my child.

Momsully, today is only cd13. Last cycle , the largest I had was a 19 and that wasn't until cd17!!

Ditto! I only hate women who have a really easy time getting pregnant. (Joking, sort of. ;) :rotfl: )

So Courtney, what's next? Pregnancy test? How exciting!

Good luck skuttle with the IUI!

Ok, so the transfer is today. I have one absolutely perfect embryo. One died out, and one is distorted or something. They are transferring another embryo that is 5 cell (they prefer 6) and I have two 4 cells that they're going to take to blastocyst phase and hopefully freeze. I was literally shaking waiting for them to call, especially since they called half an hour later than they said they would. I'm finally somewhat calm, and I've changed out of my work clothes (actually into the same comfy outfit I wore on Tuesday-nobody saw it). I've eaten, and apparently I need to start drinking mass quantities of water. I'll have to leave here around 9:20-9:30. Plenty of time to continue getting anxious!!
Congrats!! So exciting .... Can't wait for the next few weeks!

Omg I have a 20 already! Iui tomorrow!

Wow, that was FAST!! Good Luck this time around. 20 is awesome!

Allison-you must be way better on your iphone than I am since you were posting while you were waiting. I read a little while I waited, but I have a hard time posting. I think it's a good sign that you're ready so much earlier. Are they letting you do your own trigger yet, or did they do it for you?

As for what's next, I have a pregnancy test scheduled on August 25th. Now it's just waiting and getting shots in the butt! I'll try to get DH to scan the pictures of the embryos later. It's really interesting. You can even see where they did the assisted hatching. I'm just relaxing and taking it easy today and tomorrow, per my discharge instructions. I'm supposed to avoid stairs, so I can't go to the bedrooms to often, I guess. I've been good since I got home, and since DH is home, I can do better tonight. Tomorrow I'm sending him to the movies and possibly to play with our nephews and one of the nieces. I can get a lot of good sleep in that way!

Oh man, that is going to be a hard 11 days! I hate the waiting game! I'm wishing all the best luck for you guys!

Courtney and Allison - I'm so anxious for both of you!!!!! That would be funny if after all this time you both ended up pregnant together.

kiki - congratulations. And good luck with everything.

And 40 is not old!!!!!!

For some reason, turning 35 this year hit me like a ton of bricks. DH and I always figured we'd be done having kids before I turned 35. We wanted 3. Well, I'm 35, and we have one. It just hit hard, you know? We're still in TTC limbo - the insurance doesn't pay for IUI, and we really can't afford it. The doc doesn't think I'd have a great chance without losing a bunch of weight, which is almost impossible for me. I've been the same weight for almost 20 years, no matter what I do. So, right now, I'm not exactly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, you know?

Jen

Yeah Courtney and Allison! Fantastic news from both of you. Praying for sticky babies.

Courtney...LOL! I'm pretty fast on my iPhone. Sometimes I can't get the DIS to work(too slow), but today I didn't have any problems. I couldn't help but post because I was SO excited about my 20 and I knew y'all would understand!! Both the u/s nurse and the on-call nurse (both my Dr and Nurse were off today!) cheered for the 20 with me. :) :)

I actually got the HCG from the pharmacy and then went back to my Dr's office and they did the trigger around 11am. I'm not sure why they don't just have me do it. I go in for IUI tomorrow at 11am, but I have to have DH's swimmers there at 7:30am. I'll have 3 hours to kill, so I'll probably go into my office for a couple of hours since I missed more time today that I originally thought I would.

I still can't believe I have a 20!! When she started the u/s and she went to the left side, I saw the big black circle, but was thinking it must be something else in there. I couldn't believe it was a follicle. I actually had a bunch of tiny ones...much more than I've seen before. I only at the 20mm and a 15mm on the left. Just a bunch of tiny ones on the right. When we started the u/s, I had even told the nurse that I would have to go back either on Sunday or Monday.

Jen, TTC limbo is the worst!! We were like that for a while when DH couldn't decide if he was willing to go to the urologist for further testing. I'm sorry your insurance doesn't cover IUI. I hate insurance. It's all just a mess. Mine covered all of my follicle scans, and the hospital charge for my last IUI. It didn't cover the sperm wash, HCG, or the dr's charge for the IUI. I"m not sure why it covered the hospital charge for IUI but not the Dr's charge. Strange.

After last cycle, I decided not to tell anyone about this IUI. I was SO excited about my 20 today, that I ended up telling my co-worker. This is the same co-worker that kept asking me every day if I "felt pregnant yet," so I may regret it. But I was so happy I needed to share with someone!

Jen, I just turned 35 in July and it has really hit me hard, too. I've kind of been in a depressed funk about it, to be honest. My gyn. always made a big deal about 35, like it was the "magic line" of successful pregnancies. Like once I hit it, I'm doomed to be childless forever.

I started TTC at 32, though, so totally not my fault!

I need to see an RE for a more thorough workup (my gyn did all she could), but my insurance won't pay for hardly anything. They will go so far as to tell me WHY I can't get pregnant, but they won't actually help me do it. :sad2:

I could probably afford IUI but with such a modest success rate, I'm not sure it would be worth the financial hit. So I guess we'll just see what happens.

Whoa! Your DH is doing something right! That certainly can't hurt the chances!!

LOL! Last time we only had 2 days w/o BDing, but this time we had 4 days b/c the lab fussed at me last month so I made sure we started saving the sperm. ;) I couldn't believe how much better his count was this time. His motility is still a little below average. They like to see 50% and he had in the upper 40s, so not too far off.

It's amazing how much more organized and quick this IUI was compared to last month. Last month, the IUI was done very suddenly and everything happened on the weekend. This IUI, we decided to do it on Friday so the nurse was able to call everything in and make appointments. It was SO much nicer this time around and less stressful!

I had a different on-call Dr do the IUI this time. She was nice. Not quite as friendly as the on-call Dr last month, but still nice. She actually had me lay down for 20 minutes instead of 10 afterwards, and the nurse fixed my bed so that my head was a little below my waist. LOL She wanted to encourage them to swim in the proper direction. I figure every little thing helps! The Dr also wants me to call my Dr on Monday to set up a progesterone check.

I found this IUI a little more painful. I had more cramping during it this time than last. I'm feeling fine so far, though. I'm sure those internet cheapie HPT will be calling my name soon! ;)

Well, I had to go to work today, after 3 days of basically doing nothing. Not fun! I was headachy all day, and my back hurts! I don't even think my back is from the injections. I almost think it's from sitting around so much, so that will hopefully improve in a few days. I'm feeling whiny now, for sure. I'm hormonal and tired (probably tired from the progesterone). DH did get the scan of our embryos that were transferred done, so if anybody's interested, I can post it later.
