Our family is finally taking our first family vacation in Feb. and we picked DW. We are fortunate enough that my hubby is home from deployment! We already have our 4 day hopper tickets and we are staying with my grandparents. We have a 10yr old and a 11mo by the time feb comes. I'm trying to figure out how much cash we will need to bring with us for food and fun :) Any insight is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

That will depend largely on how you like to eat. If you're staying with Grandparents, I'd plan on eating breakfast there before you head for the parks. So that means grocery money. A big breakfast can mean a light lunch at one of the many counter service resturants. Their meals average about 8-10 dollars plus another 3 for a drink. Sit down meals can run anywhere from 15-45 dollars each depending on where you go, and usually require advanced reservations. One advantage you might consider is that your husband is in the military and with his ID you can get access to Shades of Green and their meals are more moderate in cost. My wife and I are both Army Civilians and we make sure we go to Magino's Italian Resturant at SoG at least once a trip.

Thanks for the info. We were going to stay at the SoG but decided to stay with my grandparents so we can visit with them. I'm hoping we could spend less than $1,000 lol

We have stayed offsite and been able to eat for minimal spend ... the beauty of having breakfast at home, pb&j and banana sandwiches that you bring to the parks, frozen water bottles in backpacks ... it is great Disney lets you bring in your own food so you can save there and that way you can splurge on a character experience or meal that will be really memorable!

If you are disciplined about gift shopping in the many stores and boutiques you should be able to manage that. I always cringe when we get done with the rides and attractions and the wife heads for the stores.....:faint:

Thank you guys so much for the advice. I'm not much of a shopper and I Plan on giving our daughter a limit lol

Welcome. You'll have a great time; just relax and enjoy it. You can't do everything. We live here and still haven't been able to see & do everything.

Merry Christmas to all. pirate:
