New to OKW and DVC resorts - Have some questions and need some advice!

I'm a little confused? The phone number that was posted is the public number for the resort. I don't think it is any kind of secret. I googled the resort and the number that was posted is the one that shows up with the address when you search it. I've heard of lots of people calling in special requests at other resorts. I don't understand why it would be different for a DVC resort? I'm just curious as to why you wouldn't be able to call the resort to talk to someone about special requests.

In that case, it may still go to the call center instead of the hotel. DVC has asked us not to fax or call the resort and just add any requests to the reservation.

DH and I rode the boat from Disney Springs to OKW this past Saturday. I loved the resort! It's definitely spread out but it was so quiet and peaceful. My DH is won over already and we haven't even stepped foot in a room. Considering his last stay was a week at AS Sports, I think he's going to be in heaven. We agreed that the Turtle Pond area seemed like a good place to request. I'll be happy anywhere though.

Will you have a car? We like Old Key West a lot, and prefer the Old Turtle Pond pool. We stay there frequently, and sometimes we get our request to stay near there, and sometimes we don't. When we are far away, we just drive over there, and it's no big deal at all. These days I don't even request staying over there and instead just request a water view.

We will have a car. The parking lots were definitely pretty empty when we were just there but I would suspect that they'll be filled a bit more next month. Thanks for the info!

Am at Turtle Pond (2 bedroom in building 44) now. We actually got a room that most people would love. We are 50 feet from the shack and pool. But, LOL we are really not pool/sun people but we love the location anyway. Took a day to learn the bus routes but got it now. Gurgling suitcase has gotten to know me, my son in law and one of my twin sons well. Heather has taken good care of us. The rooms, while they do show wear, are great in size and have everything we need. Love the resort so far.

Also, the first building on the right after you cross the road from the main house (maybe 64??) is down and out for renovations. All kinds of lifts around for painting and I don't know for sure but they closed the whole lot there and have a number of big cargo containers around so I would say it is more than just an outside job. Had to drive around the lifts when we were playing the par 3 behind there on Saturday.
