Now I would say that I am pretty savy on the computer but I can not for the life of me figure out how to start my digital scrapbook. Is there software that I can get? I read the Digital Scrapbooking FAQ on this scrapbooking site and it says that I can use Paint Shop Pro, which I have but have never been able to figure out how to use it. Is there something more simple? Just for digital scrapbooking? Anything that I can download for free?

How did everyone get started? What was your first page like? What should I be searching for online? Any tips would help!!

Hi Princess Disney Mom

I have only been scrapping for a few months, but think it is great!
The FAQ link by Fran is VERY helpful!
Regarding the program: I use Photoshop Elements, but like you said Paint Shop works too.
1. You asked about a program just for scrap books. Some people use Creative Memories Storybook Creator and they really like it; I have never tried it so I don't know if you can download a trial for free. I suggest asking this question on the "Digital Scrapbooking post your LO here" thread.
2. Once you have a program, you need to get the materials to scrap (paper, elements, etc) The FAQ link goes through some good sites to get freebies as well as links to sites where you can purchase kits.
3. To see samples of layouts, also check out the "digital scrapbooking post you LO here" thread. You will find many many wonderful LO there. Plus, they are really friendly and supportive.

Hopefully, I answered your initial questions.

I've used Photoshop Elements and Storybook Creator Plus. SBC+ is much easier for me. The cost is $59.95 from a Creative Memories Consultant and then you can use anything that you find on the internet in the program except files that are Photoshop files. I love the ease of SBC+ and unless I have to create elements - it does everything that I need it to do to preserve my memories. I am sure that others will post too. As suggested above - check out the other threads to get some ideas. Welcome to the world of Digital Scrapbooking - you will soon be addicted!!!!

have you googled "SMILEBOX"? It's def.ly cheating, but still gives great ideas - is fast and easy!

It's fun to play around with. I've never printed anything off of it though.

Give it a try!

I agree -- I love SBC+. It's so user friendly and you can learn the software just by playing around with it. It does virtually everything I need.

I've been digi scrapping for a few years now and use Paint Shop Pro. It took alot of practice initially, and I felt like giving up, but once it clicked it clicked. Don't give up on Paint Shop Pro yet, remember, practice makes perfect, LOL.

Have you tried any of the free PSP tutorials on line? Here is a link to a list of PSP tutorials on Digital Scrapbook Place website. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/cgi-bin/MasterSearch.cgi

Update: The first link I posted didn't work. Try this http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/, and then click on the Start Here! button, and you can search for all the PSP tutorials.

I only started digital scrapping iin April, and have found it remarkably easy....I believe its because I did Ro's videos the first few days. I did exactly what she did and learned all sorts of tricks of the trade very quickly. You can find it at scrapgirls.com I'd link you, but don't have enough posts to do that yet. The information is on the front home page, its really great. In fact, I am doing the second set of videos now. Good luck.

Have you tried the Creative Memories digital products? I highly suggest that you try them. They are so much fun to use and I love using the digital templates.
