New Ticket Upgrade Policy?

Thank you for checking up on Cheshire for us. If Disney wanted him to stop posting, wouldn't they ask him to take down his information? Just a thought. His knowledge has been vast and most importantly correct. Since you work at guest relations do you have any insight on this 3rd party ticket upgrade situation?

There was no recent policy change. I believe the confusion has come along with the price increase and the price bridging policies.

There has been a policy since June 2013 that MYW tickets purchased at gate price are not to be price bridged. So if you purchase a ticket and then wait 2 years to use it. You can still upgrade within 14 days of first use. However because you paid full price for the ticket at the time it will not be price bridged.

This policy does not apply to tickets booked through a resort reservations, AAA and a few others. When we read a ticket we can see this type of ticket based on a set of letters after the ticket. So 4DPH AAA or 4DPH TC. These tickets can be bridged.

The problem is I have no idea what UT tickets are coded as in the system. The issues some are having is leading me to believe that these tickets are just MYW tickets with no special code after. Making not eligible to be price bridged. I have never seen one that was specific to UT although I'm sure I have handled them often.

I wish someone would come to me with UT tickets and let me know so I knew what they were coded as.

I'm wondering if he was asked to stop posting here. He often posted direct quotes from our ticketing "Handbook" I know he had permission to do so in the past but this information is considered confidential. Perhaps it was decided that he could no longer post without violating company policy and this permission was revoked. I sometimes work Guest Relations at Typhoon. I will try to ask around for him next time I am there. Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

That would be so good to just know that he is okay. He is missed. I understand if he cannot post for professional reasons but it would be so reassuring to know all is well with him.

While I miss his help in these matters - more than that I worry that he is okay! If you learn anything please let us know!

Thank you for the information! :thumbsup2

I would think that if UT tickets weren't able to get price bridged we would of heard the grumblings before now. I wish I knew which of my used tickets were UT tickets, I'd grab a code for ya.

I have 4 UT tickets, 3 that will have at least one day added and one that will be bridged to an AP. I won't be there until late April. I could PM or email you codes from the tickets if you want. Or is it an unseen code in the magnetic stripe or RFID?

I upgraded my UT tickets this past October. I can give you the ticket number if you'd like to look it up.

Thanks for asking after Cheshire Figment.

I wonder how the Orbitz tickets are marked? I will be picking mine up this weekend or early next week, but don't plant to use them until December. I was going to try and add a day to them too when we go then.

As things are progressing, it looks more and more like nothing has changed, so I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it.

As more reports from WDW come in, it looks like "business as usual" in the upgrade department.

Thanks, at this point I am not really worrying about any of it. It is what it is or will be what it will be, right?! I am like many of you a planner. So actually I was considering buying 6 day tickets for December instead of taking a chance of having to pay more than I consider a good price for an extra day and simply saving the orbitz tickets for another trip that is only five days. But, I have time to think about it and see how it plays out during the next nine months. In the meantime, I am really looking forward to our a vacation in a few more days!!! Hoping the snow storm doesn't mess anything up for our travel.

Have a magical trip!!! pixiedust:

When I did my upgrade of UCT tickets 3 days ago, the CM could definitely tell that they were discounted tickets that were purchased elsewhere (without any prompting from me). She couldn't see from where, but they didn't come up as just MYW tickets. Hope that helps?

Do you need the actual physical tickets when you do the upgrade if they are linked to your magic bands or can they just do it from the band?
We do know to have the actual tickets with us as back up if the bands don't work. ;)

Either will work.

When I upgraded in January (and we had a GREAT CM), our band was needed in order to put the ticket on the band. Otherwise, the tickets on the band would have just been disabled. The CM not only knew exactly what he was doing, but talked about it all as we went. And when he realized I knew most of it, we just had plain discussions about it.

I will also say that he could see when I bought my tickets, for how much they were sold for, the special division that technically sold my tickets, but could not tell where I bought my tickets from. And there were certain issues with my tickets so it did become important.

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but why do you have to use the ticket once before attempting to upgrade?

We are planning on upgrading our UT tickets to annual passes (fingers crossed). We are staying at the Polynesian so I guess I will try at the front desk and if that doesn't work walk over to TTC. I really hope this isn't a huge problem. My husband will be so annoyed and will question my "great idea".

Thanks

I don't know the technical answer to why the ticket needs to be used first, but I assume it's because that way it has a date to attach the current gate price to, or something. :confused3

I would not try to upgrade at the conceirge desk...they just don't have the level of expertise with ticketing that CMs that work at a ticket window do. I would go straight over to the TTC, or stop at the ticketing window at the MK.

Can you upgrade more than once?

Yes.

As many times as you'd like, up to the maximum allowable assets of a ticket, and
within the first 14 days after a ticket is first used.
