The THYROID Thread

Happy March everyone! Hope you are all doing well!
I am done with the radiation! Hooray! The burns on my leg are pretty much healed.
I am done with home pt! Yay!
Had the ct. The ortho onc. says the bone is not healing and might never heal.
The endo says my tsh is good now with a little extra synthroid. She wants a dexa scan and maybe prolia shots.
Seeing the regular onc. next week. He wants a big ct scan I think.
Check in when you can. Spring is just around the corner!

Very glad to read you have had some improvements.
Hope it continues for you!

Very happy for you for the good things!

I have been taking thyroid meds for a while and will be having another blood test to check how my half thyroid is functioning at the end of April. Dr apt in early May. Here is hoping the meds are helping so my thyroid doesn't go overactive. The last thing I want is for cancer to grow on the remaining half and having to do this surgery again to remove it. *fingers crossed*

Happy Spring! Hope everyone is doing well

Heather - wishing you all the best with your upcoming tests and Dr. appt.

I had my big ct scan. The oncologist called my cancer “stealth” because it likes to hide.
The spleen lesion is still there. Now they see a tiny lesion by another bone so they will watch it.
Tomm. Seeing the endo. The weather will be terrible but I know she wants to see me in person as my last few visits were telehealth. We will see what she has to say.
Going to the cardiologist sometime soon. I am down to like maybe twice a year with him so far.
Check in when you can!

Hope everyone is doing well

My own update. Lots of pain in my left leg. This week the ortho onc. and part 1 spine mri.
Next week pcp and part 2 mri.
Oct. is endo so blood test and sono have to get done. Also seeing the reg. Onc. And had a leg ct. my head spins with all of this. I am glad I have my faith. I wouldn’t be able to get through all this without it.
Check in when you can.

my doc now tells me i have macular degeneration
I am presently in the learning period.

only one eye has it for now.

Hello @luvmarypoppins great to hear from you!

Things are quiet for me on the thyroid front at least. Got my 6 month endo check up coming up soon. Other things get me down more these days (hip pain, back pain, ear issues). I swear I think a ton of it is related to menopause.

I had a great vacation to San Diego a few weeks ago to visit my son. I took my parents (in their 80s) who hadn't been anywhere since COVID so it was good to get them out and about. Traveling by plane is always such a trip anymore but things went very well. I definitely miss the West Coast--I love it and the stable weather (at least in San Diego).

Now just the looming winter coming, which I don't care for!

Small update for me: I have an apt in November for an ultrasound on the remaining half of my thyroid and then another bloodwork getting done in preparation for my next phone call apt with my specialist. Here's hoping they see NOTHING new or concerning on the ultrasound and that my thyroid meds are still working well! I will update again near the end of November after my apt!

My fiance are going to Punta Cana soon for our wedding/honeymoon! I am so excited! I'm glad the dr stuff is after so I don't have the possibility of any bad news to ruin my mood! lol

what questions do you have?
I was recently diagnosed with it and have gained a lot of weight even though I don’t over eat or eat a lot of junk. I’m hoping the medication will at least stop the weight gain. Just wondering if I should be eating a gluten free diet of if there is a special diet for Hashimotos I haven’t got much help from Dr, but have been referred to Endocrinologist.

i went to to different doctors for it before i found a doc that specializes for it.

turned out it was a good decision for me to go

first i went to my family doctor and was not impressed how he handled it
then went to another doc, endocrinologist

second doctor was very helpful and was in practice at least for 2 years

Sounds like I’m having same experience…not much help from primary care Dr but she did refer me to an endocrinologist.
Thank you.

hook up with an indo and work with them
it may take time before you start to feel more like yourself

it’s not going to be quick change in your body overnight
But you will begin to feel improvement over time
