I have to say that I have been cropping a lot more recently (Since Christmas) - and you all have inspired me. I am now using flowers, brads, eyelets and tags...

and I'm getting better and better!

I've noticed a neat technique on many projects --- but I don't know how to describe it.

The best word I can come up w/ is: "distressed" -- it's like black/brown stamp ink was somehow around the edges of frames/pages and embellishments -- it looks so good - how do I do this? Do you all know what I'm talking about? Do I need a Special Kit/supplies?

Does anyone have any pages where they've done this so I can see more?

Thanks for all of your inspiration!

Well, I don't have any pictures I can post and I am not the best around here, but I can certainly try to help.

As far as distressing goes... I usually distress in a few ways.... crumpling the paper and smoothing it, going over it with a piece of sandpaper (works especially well with white core paper), and, as you mentioned, ink. I don't use anything special (just my usual scrapping ink pads), but I think that the color is important. Depending on what kind of a look you are going for (vintage, grunge, or just plain distressed) you may want to use different colors of ink. For vintage I use a coffee brown or lighter brown, for grunge I use black, and for just plain distressed I use a combination of them. I usually just run the ink pad along the edges of the paper. If I am inking the front of the page, I usually do after crumpling the paper and before completely smoothing it. The ink hits the high spots and the distressing looks more realistsic. Not sure what else I can tell you. HTH.......................P

You can Photoshop your various crinkled, glazed, or distressed looks, too.

She liked this effect -- I might have liked something more crackled or glazed.
