New survey

The Temp thing is not going to work. A co-worker of mine has tested positive twice, no symptoms but decided to test the first time back in March because he wanted to visit a few older relatives. No symptoms but tested positive. He recently tested positive this month because he was going to be Best Man in a wedding, again, no symptoms but tested positive.
What state? Not sure our testing doesn’t have a lot of false positive/negative results.

The biggest reason we picked Disney for Alaska was the nursery. That would be a pretty big thing for us since our friends are also going and we were hoping to do Palo.

For everyone who are saying they didn't get a survey, or trying to figure out when DCL may sail again based on who is getting a survey I want to say don't stress about it. I have done market research for nearly 8 years for multiple companies (including Disney) and have sent out hundreds of surveys like this. They are more than likely using a random sample of everyone who currently has a cruised booked. Because of how statistics work we (meaning market researchers) don't need to survey an entire population in order to infer how the population would respond. They are likely using this survey to gauge what people are willing to give up but still sail. If you do get the survey please take the time to fill it out and answer it honestly! I promise companies actually look at survey data and use it to make decisions. If they didn't I wouldn't have a job!

(Just want to note I have nothing to do with this survey and haven't been employed by the Walt Disney Company for the last 4 years. This is just my opinion and thoughts based on my professional experience in the market research field.)

We didn't get a survey, but, curiously, one of my two rebooked cruises (for next March) got the notice (just yesterday) about being able to move the cruise into 2022, but not cancel without penalty. It means someone is triggering notices into next March and looking at them.

I wonder if part of why they are offering that for a March cruise in particular is to allow for a reduced capacity during "march break season" ?

Easter is the first week of April - so I don’t see why they wouldn’t extend it into that as well - If that was the idea. Lots of schools up here have off that week

Maybe. Very soon after our cancellation that cruise booked up quite well. Everyone that had spring break this year took spring break next year, I guess.

Yes, this. Can we extrapolate from the surveys delivered when their target resumption of cruising is? So far, out of who's received a survey, who has the earliest sail date? Would be cool if people who have received a survey could let us know their sale date. Might give us a rough idea of when DCL thinks they can get back at it.
I received a survey and we have a cruise scheduled for December 9, 2020. I plan to cancel because even if it sails there will be way to many restrictions. I have already booked another cruise for the end of May 2021 hoping things will be much better by then. This is absolutely crazy.

I wonder if Disney reads these message boards lol

I hope not. Otherwise the take everyone's PIF money and cancel the cruise will become their business model for the next year. They will come on this board and see that there is really no backlash, so they can continue to operate that way. I've seen people come on this board and actually use the excuse for DCL that they didn't know they were going to have to cancel. Here's a clue, when you're a company spending millions of dollars to sail around and get rid of your crews, that's premeditation that you had no intent to sail the cruises you had booked. You can't sail booked cruises with no crews. They continued to sell cruises they knew would not go out and that they had no crews for. People really had hopes and dreams that their cruises would go out and rather than do the honorable thing and cancel the cruises so people could salvage their airline/hotel/cruise arrangements, etc., they wait and cancel after PIF or even later. Not just saying this as a spectator, I have a 10/02 Dream cruise that my flight leaves in 79 days. Every day DCL waits makes our ability to make other arrangements harder and narrows our options.

I want to say several years ago it was mentioned on a show how it was useful and used. The show said people were hired just to inform Disney about what was being said out here. It must be a massive department now.
A manager at DCL told us they do. 🙂
I too asked on a ship in the last 4 years if they still check social media. He said that’s also how they realized some of the jokes on the musicals got old and needed to be updated.

Do that many people really believe Disney cancelling cruises as soon as they know they aren't sailing? I am in the same boat, Fantasy cruise sailing 9/19. 99.9% sure it is being cancelled, but it is a concierge stateroom so our deposit wasn't refundable so we went ahead and paid in full. I could move it now to a future sailing, but only at 100% credit. Plus all of the sailings we were interested in for September 2021 no longer have the rooms available that we currently have. I've made lots of plans for a land based trip, but all refundable options just in case the cruise sailed and we decided to stay on it. At this point we may just start finalizing our alternative plans, especially once school plans are released later this week for our school district. I assume we would have to quarantine for 2 weeks after if we actually sailed.

I'm in the same situation. We're concierge and looked at moving to Fantasy cruise while kids are out of school. DCL has waited so long to make a move on our 10/02 Dream cruise that as of now there are no longer any concierge rooms available for the month we wanted. Also, the longer DCL takes to make a move on our 10/02 cruise, the higher the airfare gets when we go to change our airfare around for that week. The unreal part to me is that this has happened to so many and most just accept it like it's no big deal and that it's OK to operate in this manner. I think it would be incredibly naïve for people to believe that DCL is unaware which cruises they are going to cancel, especially when they remove your cruise from the website and are getting rid of the crews. They don't seem to care that the string along waiting to cancel costs us more financially than just the price of the cruise due to our hotel and air we have involved as well. I understand the CDC/CLIA/Virus is not their fault and not blaming them if they need to cancel. Would just request that they be up front and cancel the cruises that are not going to go out instead of the string along game holding up our ability to make other plans.

Bahamas has them beat with an even more worthless requirement. Right now, to fly into the Bahamas, you have to show a negative Covid test within the last 10 days. A 10 day old negative test?
Don’t you know it’s impossible to contract the virus within ten days of a test?? 😂🙄

I didn't book concierge for my current cruise reservation (it got bumped up because of the Magic's drydock) and won't book concierge in the future if DCL maintains that concierge deposits must be non-refundable. At this point, I'm not going to do any travel in the immediate future that is non-refundable. But since so many people seem to be using the 125% credit to book a higher category, there doesn't seem to be much concierge availability in 2021 anyway.

That makes a lot of sense to me. I got a survey for my Alaska sail August 2021 but not for my December 2020 one. You would assume they would be asking about the closest sailing date.

Not to be a downer but maybe out of the two, the August 2021 cruise is the closest. That's what we're trying to piece together, what's not going to sail.

Oh, not at all. I'm totally prepared to have the December one cancelled. :)

Yeah, I just wish there wasn't this big mystery. It's like when you're trying to buy airfare and you wonder if you buy today is it going to be half the price 3 days later. I stopped trying to figure out airfare prices and just buy and don't look back.

It actually was not on a ship, but DCL corporate. They are watching from many different areas.

We have a cruise scheduled in mid-October (fairly certain it will be cancelled as it is out of San Diego and don't see DCL coming over to the west coast) and we got a decent deal with OBC from a travel agent for Concierge (first time doing; probably also the last time).....now the PIF is tied up with them and we are unable to move forward with alternative vacation plans..have enjoyed our previous 3 cruises with them, but may look at other ways to spend our money; Disney is becoming just too expensive! 🤨😟
