New survey

We didn't get a survey, but, curiously, one of my two rebooked cruises (for next March) got the notice (just yesterday) about being able to move the cruise into 2022, but not cancel without penalty. It means someone is triggering notices into next March and looking at them.

Is it possible that the survey is just being sent to a random group of sailings? Maybe it’s only being sent to people that have sailed DCL before as they already have experiences with the experiences that might be changed...

I’m almost positive it’s being sent to random sailings and random people on those sailings. They can’t want to sort through feedback from EVERYONE! But, I am holding out hope that the fact that’s it is being sent out AT ALL means things are moving in the direction to resume cruising at some point!

The sooner the better as far as I’m concerned :)

I agree. They have to be thinking of every way to make things as safe as possible and still have the guests have a positive experience!

As much as travel/vacationing is not essential - there are a lot of people that have jobs in the industry that want things to get going again!

I would not go on a cruise that required me to use DCL for excursions. On our Alaska cruise we only did one with DCL, the glacier explorer on Endicott arm day. I loathe big group excursions.

Likewise, reduced access to kids club would be a deal breaker. I don’t want to sign up for times either. Better to reduce the number of children on board to those that can use the clubs safely. I used the nursery last time for adult meals at Palo, so I think no nursery would likewise be a problem for many families.

I don’t mind masks, no self-serve food, signing up for tickets for evening entertainment, or temp screenings/negative Covid tests.

Yes to OBB, Yes to 2 stops at CC, all other adjustments are to be expected, so I'm not surprised or put off by them. Now...that OBB!!! :boat:

We also did the Alaska excursions on our own. My kids were 10,10 and 12. The vendor charged 12 and under as a child. Disney charged 9 and under as a child for the same excursion.

We did this for Alaska too. Ds20 was 12 at the time so he was charged as a child for most excursions. We did book some through DCL because we had a huge OBC to use up. Ah, the good ol' days. :goodvibes :cloud9:

For those asking about the survey and when it came. Two fellow cruisers received a survey yesterday. One was closed almost right away. Another filled it out a few minutes ago. One person was from Georgia unknown for the one that closed right away. Also she was asked if &150 was an okay onboard credit.

I think that a lot of those changes probably have to happen, at least in the near term.

However, for me, most of those would be dealbreakers.

I'm working on figuring out vacations for our family that can be both safe and fun. Lots of outdoors, no indoors.

Same- DCL only excursions makes me feel a bit like a hostage (somewhat joking), but not having the ability to go off on our own would be a deal breaker. We’ve also left many an excursion early and canned back- especially when we’ve hit our limit in the sun.

The kids clubs and reserving pool time would not work with how our family travels. We spend a lot of time saying what does everyone feeling like doing now? Club? pool? Movie? and then rolling with it. If you don’t get a slot, what are you doing?

think taking temps is a waste of time. Many positive with Covid have no symptoms so taking temps is not at all reassuring to me. I work in a very large hospital's radiology dept who has decided not to take temps because it is not an indication of being virus-free.
Nor is having a temp an indication that you have Covid. I'm currently staying at a resort that scans temperatures every time you enter the building (even after using the pool). They won't let you in with a temp. I'm a bit paranoid that we're going to end up locked out with nowhere to stay due to me having hot flashes or a UTI, or my son catching a cold. That's stressful enough in the USA. Who wants that level of stress when sailing abroad? Under those circumstances, who wouldn't carry Tylenol to ensure safe passage back home?

Count me among those who won't sail with DCL until these extreme restrictions are off the table.

Just 250$ per cabin to compensate for the removal of such a big part of the Disney experience?

DCL charges 2 to 3 times the price of other cruise lines on similar itineraries ...for the Mouse! A 250$ OBC is not enough to compensate for the reduced experience.
For sure! Literally 0 chance I’ll pay close to 7k for the 3 of us to go without those Disney experiences. I’ll either do Disney world for cheaper and then just wait a bit longer to do the cruise

DCL may as well keep cancelling until they can sail with fewer restrictions. I can get the same experience on Carnival for a lot less.

I agree. I always said that if you stripped all the Disney themed stuff from DCL, your experience would not be that different (outside of better decor and furniture) from Carnival. And practically similar to RCCL which is also much cheaper than DCL. If they do that, they’ll need to compensate more or give partial refund to their guests on top of reducing their fare unless they are already at max capacity.

No survey for us either, we have a cruise planned for Jan 2021 and July of 2021, I do not want to only do DCL excursions for the July trip that’s for sure and 250 would not be even a little bit helpful. Our January is just to the Bahamas and I would be so happy to double dip at Castaway.

Checking for a temperature is practically useless for figuring out who has the virus. My parents both caught it a couple weeks ago. They had fevers for a couple days, yet still test positive for the virus almost 2 weeks later. That is 1 1/2 weeks without fevers that they still have the virus.

You would have to rely on people being honest if they were still contagious and not get on the ship. Not going to happen in all instances.

Agreed, I had the virus and only had a loss of taste/smell. Had a normal temp throughout the whole duration which was 10 days for me

The Temp thing is not going to work. A co-worker of mine has tested positive twice, no symptoms but decided to test the first time back in March because he wanted to visit a few older relatives. No symptoms but tested positive. He recently tested positive this month because he was going to be Best Man in a wedding, again, no symptoms but tested positive.
