They announced the following new toys:

  • 70-200 f/2.8 stabilized
  • 85mm f/1.4
  • 17-50mm f/2.8 DC stabilized
  • 8-16mm DC
  • 50-500mm stabilized
I think all these lenses are available with Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sigma, and Sony mounts. The DC lenses are for APS-C cameras only.

They also "re-announced" the SD15, their Foveon based DSLR. I guess that means they are going to try to ship them this time?

The also announced the DP2s and DP1x. These are large sensor compact cameras. They are sort of p&s cameras with APS-C sized sensors. I don't think that you can change the lens and I don't think that it zooms.

Many of these (or similar) are available in four thirds mounts also. Hopefully I will be purchasing one soon. My other Sigma lens is my current favorite. :goodvibes

These new Sigma lenses aren't available in 4/3 but they do have some really good ones that are

The 18 - 50 f/2.8 is a fantastic lens

It seems like the specs are at least a year old (or more!) Do they really expect this to be a popular camera when everything else new out beats it? They list an expanded ISO 3200 like that is impressive. My over three year old K100D had 3200 in the regular range.

That 70-200 looks rather nice. Maybe they can give Canon a run for their money and avoid the QC issues they've had in the past.

Hmm I'd be really excited if the 70-200 f/2.8 gets good reviews. The L series Canon lens is $1800 and I just can't see spending that kind of money on one lens in the next two years... (esp after just buying the Canon 24-105 f/4L!). I wonder what this one will be selling for... the non stabilized one looks like it goes for ~$800.

I'm interested in that 8-16 ultra-wide -- after see how it performs optically and what price point it meets.

If the 85/1.4 is as good as the 50/1.4 and not toooo expensive. Hmmmm.

That was my thought. I had wanted the Nikon 85 1.4 but picked up the 85 1.8 since I didn't have the money at the time. Now I'm smacking myself for not just waiting it out. Oh well, I guess I can always sell it if Sigma's is getting good marks.

Especially considering what a new 85/1.4 from Nikon would likely cost once they get around to releasing it. :scared1:

Oh believe me, I wasn't even considering the 85 1.4 AF-S if it's ever released, DH would officially kill me, I just meant the stinky old AF-D version. :rolleyes1 I was hoping if an AF-S was released, AF-D prices would drop and I could swing it. BUT, my Sigma 30 is my favorite lens still :lovestruc...so if the Sigma 85 is basically a longer version of my 30, I'd sooooo get that instead.
