New Ship Teaser Announcement

I may have missed it posted elsewhere (so apologies if this is a duplication), but Disney mentioned the new ships as part of their shareholder's meeting today.

Interesting with all the enclosed forward upper deck areas and the curved bump out areas along the sides. Also looks like the the aquaduck may start from the forward funnel and not the aft. Cannot wait for more info. Thanks for posting!

Yes, I saw that the forward deck as well. Not sure if that's additional dining or entertainment, but there's definitely more enclosed space on the forward upper decks.

And yes, sounds like the same number of rooms but a bit more square footage. Should be good; Dream & Fantasy feel a little too packed vs. their entertainment space.

Ok friends, I have made my observations and predictions:

  • A little hard to tell, but it looks like it may somewhat still have the I beam design that the current Dream class has, which is disappointing as that takes away from public spaces, which based on reading people wish there was more of, particular ability to see outside from public areas.
  • 4e cabins look to remain intact.
  • Looks to be still about 10 decks until the pool deck at 11.
  • Looks like an additional 1-2 decks forward where concierge rooms traditionally sit.
  • This addition also looks to go further back potentially to the forward funnel impacting the adult area there. Maybe the new enclosed space includes a solarium.
  • Maybe 2-3 decks added above Palo and Remy at the rear.
  • These decks appear to run into the rear funnel removing the aqua lab and bar existing on the Dream class. I suspect there to be some indoor type sports activities to help with any in-climate weather.
  • The addition of Bump out rooms. Those bump out rooms will be a premium no doubt about that. I would venture they may even hold 5-6 persons to accommodate larger families but not require the concierge premium.
  • There are 7 lifeboats depicted, there are 8 currently on the Dream class.
  • Aquaduck looks like it may be reconfigured slightly. Forward funnel will no longer have a kids club space or flex space to overlook the adults area.

I am sure whatever Disney decides, those new ships will be great. We love all the ships and enjoy cruising on each one for the subtle differences they offer.

Just a quick question... With those two bump outs when the people staying in the center of the ship between the two bump outs wouldn’t they lose viewing area?

Thanks for posting the link! The new ship concept is really pretty. Love the bump outs, too.

I am hoping that some of that aft and forward glassed-in area could be used for a lounge or a solarium, but I'm worried DCL will just be adding to the concierge space. I guess I'll have to wait and see what they plan to do with those areas.

Honestly they need more indoor viewing areas for the colder cruises. I would have loved something like that in Alaska, and now with what little there was becoming concierge-only space I think we will be looking elsewhere when we go back to Alaska and other colder parts of the world.

I just saw the other the other thread about this so if mods want to merge...feel free!!

It would be interesting to see if the "bumped out" verandahs stay. Wouldn't that make them slightly larger? Interesting!pixiedust:

From that angle, the only real differences I can see are the bumped out verandahs and the stacks seem shorter. Otherwise it looks the same as Fantasy/Dream, just bigger :confused3

Wonder if that will hinder one from getting to the front of the ship for viewing

“Hump cabins” are super popular on other lines that have them. I have never considered them because I love the motion of being forward, but many people swear by them.

The only issue I see with the bump outs would be the people on the sides of the bump out and the people in the cabins near them on the flat part will have a very cozy view of each other!!

I would love for some of that forward area to be public areas with great views.
We need to remember that this is an artist's rendering and may not have all the final design details.

My first thought is it looks like a cross between a Royal Caribbean and Holland America ship. The bumps scream RCCL Voyager class, the additional upper decks at the front remind me of HAL's MS Koningsdam.

I think the bumps kind of ruin the nice lines that the 4 previous ships have... but who knows, it may look way better once built.

Another big difference is the upper decks on the forward part of the ship, makes it look like it has a "hump" compared to the Dream class.

Seems like a combo between the older Disney ships and the newer ones.

I wonder if that enclosed space in the front might be an observation lounge similar to NCL's Bliss.

Another thing to note is this says the ship will be 140,000 tons opposed the 135,000 tons they were previously saying.
