New shampoo/conditioner/body wash containers

I don't believe thats the reasoning behind the dispensers. Thats what they tell you as part of their sales pitch. In reality its all about cost savings. There are numerous biodegradable bottles available. Many soap and shampoo companies have been using them for years. Disney could have switched to them but choose the low cost dispenser route.

Intended or not, it's still a good thing.

Possibly but I'd prefer they switched to biodegradable bottles. Its a nicety and why the Deluxes haven't changed. The Values are slowly being converted to being closer and closer to a Motel 6 experience. For some thats fine, for others its not.

Well, soap dispensers didn't ruin any cruises I've taken, so if Deluxe does go that way, won't affect my trip at all. And I personally don't seen it as cheapening my experience.

I do. For the price they charge I should be able to get the individual bottles...green or not.

Everyone has their own wants and needs as to the little things that make a difference in their overall vacation experience. For instance, turn down service with a chocolate on the pillow is something that's for many makes a nice difference when they return to their room. For me, while its a nice touch I'm not willing to pay extra for.

Possibly the difference is that for decades the low end Motels have often had dispensers while the nicer hotels have had small bottles. The low end Motels such as Motel 6 have removed carpeting years ago and went with hospital style bedding. So when nicer hotels such as at Disney do the same it gives the appearance of lessening the experience to that of a cheap motel.

Guests don't - or shouldn't - have any expectation of the vessel that delivers their toiletries regardless of the price they pay.

Why not? Guests most certainly should have expectations for whatever experience they are looking for in a resort. They may expect carpeting, quality beds, nice comforters and pillows, quality coffee and type of toiletries or any number of niceties. Sure a resort can choose not to offer those items. If doing so causes a resort to no longer meet the customers expectations then they vote with their wallet. But to say customers can't have expectations in what they want and should therefor accept whatever is offered is wrong to me.

I agree, everyone has their own opinion, which is why I stated for me, it doesn't cheapen my experience.

Your last paragraph is stated as fact - except that's still your opinion. My opinion is I love the removal of carpet and minimalist bedding. :)

I used those dispensers at Music a few weeks ago...I survived. It's just not a big deal for me. I also try to decline housekeeping whenever possible, especially when traveling by myself. I just don't need my bed made and fresh towels every day. But...I know many, many people that would be horrified at that thought!!!! Same with the toiletries. It's probably because I have an abundance of the things at home...I've been going to WDW for a very long time!!! If I find I have an issue with those dispensers, then I'll bring my own stuff with me.
My biggest cheaping out issue??? Paying to park. Now, that gets me going. I guess we each have to decide what's going to put us over the edge. If you don't like the dispensers, you can always bring stuff from home. If you want daily housekeeping, you can get it. If you drive a car, you need to decide if it's worth paying to park at a Disney resort. I doubt this has anything to do with going green..it's more about dollars in Disney's pockets.

Don't agree at all. They are adding queen beds, USB ports, coffee pots. How is that making them more like a Motel 6 experience? Which I assume you mean as an insult.

I'd rather not have to pay even more for the room because they wanted to switch to biodegradable bottles, So I guess I'm more happy with Disney being green as long as they are not trying to make me pay more for it.

Guess I'm the only one who thinks the H2O products suck? All the shampoo does is dry out my hair. Not to mention none of it smells good to me. I'd rather use Pantene.

Motel 6's have been undergoing renovations the past few years. Removing carpet and switching to white hospital style bedding. Same as POP has now done. Motel 6 already had coffee pots and USB ports as do nearly all hotels of all price ranges. The queen beds are certainly a plus.

Insult? I'm simply saying in the past decade the POP rooms have been WAY above a Motel 6 or other 1* hotel. They no longer are. They are nearly identical. If you feel that removal of carpet and hospital style bedding is an improvement then great! For me I feel those are downgrades to a much lower level hotel than what I had been used to. The rooms look rather sterile instead of the colorful Disney flooring and bed coverings they had before.

Looks like something I would expect at a cheap motel not a Disney Resort.

Yes I can’t get comfortable with communal toiletries in the bathtub. I have had decent luck with having a clean room and fully stocked supplies most onsite stays. I see this as more work for housekeeping to keep the holders and the surrounding surface clean and notice when the containers are empty.

That's a strawman argument. She is not suggesting to force anyone to do anything. People can bring their own soap.

Besides, every environmentally conscious action helps.

Then seriously, everyone should ride the bus. Airplanes are absolutely the worst for the environment. One round trip flight uses the same carbon footprint of a car for a YEAR. People tend to be hypocritical when it comes to the environment.

And if people can bring their own soap, they can ride the bus. They are getting there, right?

It would also be a good thing to get rid of air conditioning. Do you support that as well? And this is not sarcasm - I am asking a serious question. Where is the line drawn? It differs for everyone. I am fine in the heat. You might not be. Would be pretty jerky of me to advocate that Disney get rid of AC (or what is more realistic, turn the nadir temp to 80) just because I would be A-OK with it.

Jen1995 - I can't really have a discussion with you as it seems there is no pleasing you, you seem to think you are always right in your opinion.
Every post you have made since you have joined has been some type of complaint, expression of dissatisfaction or not accepting another poster's answer.

I really think it would be futile to discuss this with you and I don't mean that to be mean. We all have our opinions and that is great, I just don't think our conversation would go very far.

I like the H2O :P the only one I didn’t like was the 2 in 1 type shampoo. To me (with the exception of the old Aquatics line) I can barely smell the scent. So doesn’t bother me. And love the Sea Salt body lotion. Others seem to be able to detect the scent of the Marine Shsmpoo better than me.
I always bring a leave in, which I use at home too. For me it’s the Florida water that messes with my hair, not theproducts.

You missed my "tirade" against the H20 products earlier in the thread LOL. Totally not impressed with how they felt, worked or smelled. Smelled like cough medicine...and worked about the same LOL.
