New Security Measures At The Parks

This might only be about a themepark but that is what we're here to discuss. Taking away toy guns doesn't affect me at all but I find it odd and wonder what the point is. I also wonder what will indeed be next.

Maybe churros. They could look like a gun and are pretty dangerous when hot:) Completely agree about the toy guns, even though I don't usually encourage DS to play with them.

Lets not forget churros have that cinnamon all over them and if you rubbed one on someone's skin it could easily cause an really bad abrasion...just like sandpaper :scared:

i actually would like all guests to go through metal detectors. i hope they transition to this for all guests soon. i mean, prior to 9-11, they did not seven search bags....times change, so does disney. no issue from me.

Don't forget the employees and workers who can supply a wide range of weapons to would be terrorists need to be searched as well.

Which Sheriffs, and where?

I'm reminded of this woman: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/12/u...ers-vows-to-never-help-anyone-again.html?_r=1 ;)

I'm very happy she's vowed "never to help anyone again", considering she doesn't seem to understand that she wasn't actually helping anyone in the first place.

As for the woman you reference, she made a bad judgement and was appropriately dealt with in law.

Take a peek at the NRA magazine listing the positive use of firearms for self defense. They are numerous and informative.

That's like asking a hypnotherapist for their view on the advantages of hypnosis. Or a car sales man the advantage of buying the car he is selling - Hardly a un biased view -

I bet their magazine doesn't also list the results of death and injury by accidents - like the young girl that shot her instructor dead last year or the numerous young children that have shot siblings or friends (quite a few cases come to mind from this year alone).

Note that Wikipedia is not the neutral universal encyclopaedia it claims to be.
That Wikipedia article has over 200 source references given, two of which were included in the quote by mackay_j. The quote was largely issues of fact, so I'm not sure how much journalistic bias could enter into them. The source references in the quote are from AZCentral.com (web site of the Arizona Republic, a Phoenix newspaper) and the New York Times. But if you don't like that description of Sheriff Arpaio, you could try this FoxNews (Latino) article on his investigation of the authenticity of the President's Hawaii birth certificate (citation [206] on the Wikipedia page).

There's nothing on the Wikipedia talk page discussing any current Wikipedia controversy about the page. While there's a lot of criticism of him on the article page, it's not devoid of positive aspects - such as his "Have a Heart" program, encouraging inmates to be organ donors. It also mentions that he's been reelected and won recall battles. Short of going through the entire history of the page, a huge task, the only way to know whether it's biased is to try posting an alternative perspective, with appropriate, reliable sources, and see what happens.

So, if you have something to question, either about missing sources for the web page or questionable sources, I suggest raising the issue on the talk page. If you have additional material to add, with reliable sources, I suggest just editing the page. But Wikipedia encourages people like you and me to help keep it neutral, and the only way that will happen is to put the effort in. Griping about the neutrality while simultaneously ignoring the primary sources that are given doesn't fly.

I guess you aren't going to get the point. I was merely talking about articles published in media around the country that are listed in the armed citizen section.

No bias, just facts.

They dont list all the deaths and accidents caused by cars, however they are far more numerous than firearms deaths.

It's like the lack of reporting that the number one area for 'mass shootings' are in places like Norway and the USA comes in at number 8.

The Sheriff Joe thing is a side debate. Let's get back on track. There are hundreds of sheriff's, possibly thousands at this point, voicing support for concealed carriers to stop terror attacks. Here is a really racist sheriff so racist in fact he was awarded 2013 Sheriff of the year, Sheriff Clarke-

A business has the right(or at least should if the government didn't involved in everything that could be solved with the free market) to dictate what is allowed or not allowed on their property. Just like people have rights, a business has them as well. It seems people really enjoy screaming about their rights, but then scream louder when a business does the same thing.

So I guess if disney receives notice of a credible or possible threat, they should say, eh, whatever, let's not do anything, it's more important that our adult guests can dress up for Halloween.

wait 7 (according to the list above) = hundreds or even thousands? I'm not an expert at this common core math but I don't think that adds up.
btw we are talking about private property. Property owners have rights to decide what happens on their property as long as they don't discriminate against a protected class. I don't believe the USSC has declared gun owners a protected class.

I wonder if this all stemmed from the stupid lawyer who had a gun going into MK. I don't mind metal detectors, but I would mind the extra time involved if everyone had to go through as we live 2 hours away. We already leave at 7 am, leaving at 6am would be really tough. This would be the case for a lot of FL residents who just go there on day trips

David Clark is Sheriff in Milwaukee, WI.

We are here now and it is not everyone going through the metal detectors. It appears people are picked at random. My husband was picked yesterday and it was 30 seconds more for us. I think bag check lines are moving same as they always have.

Has anyone in this conversation actually contacted Disney to ask about the policy for Halloween parties? Or would that be too sensible and would kill the thread. :)
