New rides and motion sickness

I don't go on most of the "mountains" at WDA due to some pretty extreme motion sickness. I'm assuming I probably won't be able to do Expedition Everest (although, I'm thinking of taking my sea bands with me and trying them out- anyone with motion sickness tried these on thrill rides?)- what about Soarin'?

I don't suffer from motion sickness, but just wanted to know if you have ever tried taking motion sickness meds. before going into the parks? My friend does this, as she gets really bad motion sickness and it works wonders for her!!

Soarin' is a really tame ride with the sensation of hanggliding. I don't know how it would affect motion sickness though. Most of Disney's mountain ranges are fairly tame too at least by roller coaster standards. I have heard of people who have taken their bands and been fine while others have had problems.

I've tried doing meds before, but they knock me out- so no fun for doing the parks. The bands work really well...so maybe I'll try them on one of the tamer rides.

How long is Soarin'? Body Wars was one of the longest rides ever for me, since I was sick during the whole thing- bleh.

I had no problem at all with Soarin', but Everest wiped me out. Took me about 3 hours to feel human again. Never again...

Everest, though awesome, may do you in. Roller Coasters don't bother me with motion sickness, though simulators do. After 8 times in a row on Everest, I was a bit queasy. I could ride Space or Thunder Mountain all day and not get queasey.

Where do you purchase the bands? I

ABSOLUTELY! I made the mistake of riding Astro Orbitor with my DD4 a couple of years ago, and was done for the day after that. My wife had to ride on all of the rides with the kids while I spent the next 6 hours alternating sitting on a bench, or off to the bathroom with nausea.

On our return trip last year, I took Dramamine before leaving the room each day. I was able to ride Cindy's Carousel and Goofy's Barnstormer with my daughter, and rode RnRoller Coaster and Star Tours with DS11. Star Tours made me sick, but it didn't last long.

I'll never again go to an amusement park of any type without my dramamine. We'll be back in WDW in 18 days, and I've already bought my motion sickness pills.

Hmmm...I honestly don't remember- I've had them for a long time. I think I just got them at a local pharmacy. They're called Sea-bands, and they're a knit band with a plastic ball that goes over an accupressure point for nausea. Works well for me in airplanes, but I've never tried them for any type of rides...
