New Resort in Cocoa Beach - Info anyone?

I just emailed them, it looks nice, I wonder what the price would be to purchase? If we continue to cruise each year it may be worth while. Rentals look like they start at 100.00. we will see what I hear back.

If it is true the rates start at $100, then I presume that that they are speaking of the Studio Villa, which would be diectly comparable to the 1-King whirlpool suite at the Radisson. And since the Radisson is now running $115 (trying to book for this June), hmmm...

This place is also a timeshare, and I wonder if you must listen to a salespitch to stay here. I've stayed in places FREE to have to put up with a mandatory salespitch. Please let us know Ann!

P.S. - Ask about parking (leaving your car there while you are on-ship). That's worth $70

Here's some additional info I found on their site:

Well we will see what I hear back.
We do own DVC already, if I have to listen to a sales pitch I certainly would expect to have a rate much less than the 100.00. When we have bought other timeshares we got a weekend for free when we bought.. when I hear back from them I will certainly post.

We are going to stay here for a week in April through our timeshare. The info. that I have is all rooms either have an ocean view or a view of the water park. It is a $5 Million dollar water park, with a 4 story water slide, and a lazy man river. Inside the resort they are suppose to have an 4000 square foot playgroung for the kids. When we called in December they said that they were not sure if the water park would be opened in time for the opening of the hotel in January. They did say that it would definately be open by April. You might want to check on this if you are going anytime soon. If anyone stays there, please let us know how it is.

Thanks

I just emailed them and asked for information. I told them we currently do have reservations for the night before our cruise in a 1 BR King Suite at the Radisson. I also mentioned that our rate includes free parking for the length of our cruise and free shuttle service to and from the port. Let's see what they offer.

Here's an article on the resort: http://www.hotel-online.com/News/2003_Dec_10/k.ORR.1071163860.html

I went to a timeshare webiste I belong to and this is what is posted about this resort:

Thanks
Is this park only for the guests of the hotel? I haven't seen anything advertised.

They had a picture of the lobby in our local paper right before Christmas--BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
That's all I know!! Sorry!

Thanks for that link. It looks like a real nice resort.

Stulaurire...Did you trade through RCI to stay there? Did RCI have availablility in such a new resort?

Seems to even have a movie theater on site

We did not trade our timeshare for it. We bought the week through RCI Bonus week. For anyone who does not know what this is, if you own a timeshare, and the company that you trade through is RCI, then they have a section called Bonus Weeks where you can purchase unused weeks that members did not want for a really cheap price. They are now offering Rentals as part of the Bonus Weeks. I guess they negotiate special rates for RCI members. When we looked on trading our week, it was not available, but it was avalable through the Bonus Weeks. If anyone is interested in renting a Bonus week, check with friends or family that may be a member of RCI. They will let them rent it for you as long as they get you a guest certificate.

Thanks...Its funny, I want on to check bonus weeks before you even answered and the RCI website is down for maintenace till 2 A.M...

Thanks, will check tomorrow.

Hi this is Shirley - Norm and I had been watching this place go up for months now - it is stunning and beautifully located - it sits right next to the Jetty Park and right next to Solano Lakes Condos - at first we thought this was going to be another set of condos, but it finally came to light it was going to be a "resort" - they also have condos for sale which has a price tag of "I need to win the lottery in order to afford" - several years ago, the port starting exploding and Cape Canaveral went nutso with buying and building - now what was once known as the arm pits of Brevard County has become the top one place to buy in Brevard County - Cape Canaveral - anyhow this resort sits where you can watch the ships come in and out, walk to the beach, BUT THERE IS STILL NO CLOSE shopping - it is still out in the boonies - of course if you have a car, it makes it a piece of cake.
Anyhow will keep ya posted on it - yep it does belong to Ron Jon's and to think not that many years ago, Ron Jon's was a little shack renting out surf boards --WOW -
Anyhow hope everyone's 2004 is turning out super nice.
Always
Shirley
and yes it is VERY cool here in Florida

Shirley, thank you for the firsthand report.

The resort "belongs" to Ron Jon in that it is branded as Ron Jon. The actual developer is a large real estate developer. See http://www.ronjonresort.com/about_dev.shtml
<blockquote>Zilber Ltd.
Cape Caribe, Inc. is the developer of the Ron Jon SM* Cape Caribe Resort, located in Cape Canaveral, Florida on the Atlantic Ocean, just 45 miles east of Orlando, Florida. Cape Caribe, Inc. is part of The Towne Group of Companies which comprise a diversified real estate development and asset management company with its corporate offices located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Regional operating offices are located in Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii and Texas.
</blockquote>
It still shows how powerful and well-known the Ron Jon brand has become for what was once "a little shack renting out surf boards."

checked them out on the RCI website. Looks real nice. Even DH seems interested.

I also emailed the resort for a one night quote for May. We are currently booked at the Radisson but depending on the price, this new resort may win our stay!

well I have not heard back yet from them... It is the weekend so maybe on Monday

I'm interested in this info, too. If any of you hear back, please post. Thanks! :)

I drove by this resort back in November, prior to its opening. Nice curb appeal. Definitely close to the ship channel. But, as Shirley mentioned, you'll want to have a car if you stay there. It's a decidedly <b><i>residential</i></b> neighborhood... not within walking distance of off-site restaurants or retail.

Thanks Dave for the info! What restaurants and stores are in this area. Any chain casual dining (Olive Garden, TGIF, Applebees) resturants?

You bring up a good point, Dave. We won't have a car with us. We're flying in, then using a limo service to get from MCO to the Radisson at the Port. If Ron Jon's would offer a shuttle service then we'd consider this resort. It appears that they have onsite restaurants, so dinner that night wouldn't be a problem. It looks like a fun place to stay though :)
