Wouldnt it be nice to have Disney open up an ADULT only Resort! I know Disney is for children and all that, but this is for adults who dont have kids, or parents that have children grown up and dont go to Disney.

I think that would be a great Resort! I know that me and my DH like to stay at the WL because it is a more "grown up atmosphere".

Anyone else who goes to Disney without kids have an opinion on my idea? :thewave:

Isn't that what Pleasure Island is? A theme park for adults! :cool1:

PI used to be. When I was there in October I was surprised that some parents had their little kids intermingling with the drinking crowd going from club to club. The Adventurer's Club had some kids IN it with their parents and I though the humor had a bit of color. I liked it better when it was closed to those under 18 after 7 pp.m. or whatever. Don't flame! Just an observation! :rotfl:

I think having an adult only hotel would be great! Disney has adult only activities and options on their cruise lines, I don't understand why they don't do they same on land.

I totally agree with you gypsy!! PI should be adult only!

Get ready for some flaming from some people as this idea has been mentioned before and people were VERY vocal in the opinion that WDW is only for families and the very idea of adults only resort might as well be spitting in the face of Walt and his vision of WDW

I personally see no problem with an adults only resort. It doesnt have to be on a huge scale like Grand Floridian or Boardwalk. It could be on a smaller scale around the size of VWL or BCV with a spa, nice restaurant, and some other things that appeal to adults.
I understand WDW is a family destination. But it is also the #1 honeymoon destination. Wouldnt you think maybe some of these people would like the option of staying in a romantic adults only resort? I think they would. Also you have alot of retirees going on trips without kids. Dont you think they might like the option of going to an adults only resort. I do.
I am a family man and I cant wait for my daughter to get older and spend our vacations at Disney,we even bought into DVC for that reason. But on my many trips before her I have noticed alot of parents are anything but parents. They let their kids run around screaming and dont seem to care how it affects others and that is very inconsiderate to other people on vacation. Its as they have the mindset that if they have to suffer so do you,and that really annoys me as im sure it does alot of people.
So I personally dont see a big deal of an adults only resort. People will argue that there are adults only options at WDW,well then why cant an adults only resort be one of them. People understand that going to WDW means there are going to be alot kids and families as WDW bring out the kid in all of us. But at the end of the day some people(honeymooners, retirees) might like the option of going to a resort pool, hottub, or restaurant to relax and not want to hear bunch of kids screaming.

I had mentioned this once before when there was a thread asking for ideas for new resorts.........I don't think anyone should take offense in suggesting it. Many adults of many ages, honeymooners, solos etc would love a more laid back resort. We are all children at heart and all of us love Disney it's just that it would be nice to have a resort where you don't have to deal with alot of noise and kids all over the place.........don't get me wrong I like kids but I also like some peace and quiet at the end of a long day at the parks, and would love to enjoy a place by the pool and in the pool free of the screaming and the water splashing so if you want to flame me go ahead! Not all kids are like that but there are many that are! It's just a suggestion of perhaps a smaller scaled resort for people who do not have kids or perfer not to be around them all the time.
I completely agree with the poster below.........

The Disney Institute (RIP) was Disney's answer to the "adult vacation" idea. It had many charms, but not many takers.

Saratoga Springs has now been built over that part of WDW property, and it has some similarities to the old DI. I haven't stayed there, but as a DVC owner, I decided to pay a visit last fall. It's definitely more staid than other Disney resorts -- even the GF! -- and in decor and personality it reminds me, strikingly, of the Marriott assisted living facility where my mother spent the last years of her life. That's not a slam, btw -- her place was gorgeous. And there is still a lot for youngsters to do at SSR. But it just feels to me like it's targeted to an older, more settled crowd.

I really adore seeing the children in the parks, especially as they relate to the characters ............ BUT .......... as a married, solo, adult, with no children, I would love to have my resort more quiet. I would also prefer
NOT to have the hot tub full of pre-schoolers swimming back and forth.
I love the idea of an adults only resort. :cool1:

Gosh, why would somebody flame someone else about an idea like this? Why not offer something to appeal to a certain market? Seems like a good idea to me.

No flames - I'm a parent and I have no problem with the idea of a resort for adults only. I think it's an interesting idea and once DD flies the nest (not for many years, she's only 2) I would definately want to give it a try.

I heard awhile back that they were considering building an adult only hotel on the old Discovery Island.

I didn't even realize that Paradise Island is now all ages all the time. I honestly prefered the adults only idea after a certain time, especially because of all the clubs. It just doesn't seem like a place I'd want my kids to be at night.

As for an adults only resort, I would love it. I love Disney and I love kids, but the idea of having a place to rest and relax with other adults would be great.

Honestly, when we were planning our destination wedding and honeymoon, we actually decided against Disney because we wanted to enjoy an adults only atmosphere.

I would never think of having an adults only park, but a resort sounds like a good idea to me.

This is a terrific idea and would certainly appeal to a wide range of adults including those on solo trips (like I did a few years ago).

Maybe there could be special regulations like quiet times (late sleep-ins) and a lap pool and "private beach cabanas" like at Universal hotels for rent.

I agree that it wouldn't have to be a large resort to satisfy the need.

You said it! I used to love PI but when we went in October I was less than excited about how it's turned out since they opened the gates.

I think an adults-only resort would be supa fly! Although when I stayed at the GF, I hardly noticed any kids at all. I know they were there, but they just didn't stick out a lot.

As someone who has six (yes six) children, I think it is a great idea for people who do not have kids or want to go without their kids. :earsgirl:

Someone else told me this at a party last summer.

Well, I hope to goodness no one flames what I said, because some people just dont have kids , or are "reproductively challenged" and can't have families(with the exception of adoption of course)--like myself. So if anyone flames, that is just sad in my opinion. :confused3 :sad2:

And about the DI--that was a huge flop in my opinion. I would want something different quiet kind of a resort, something romantic, yet easy-going and just comfy.

I am suprised that the response has been positive so far. I tried to find the other thread but I couldnt. I do remember the other thread was about 50/50 but the people that were against the idea were very brutal in there responses. Saying if people didnt like kids to stay home or find somewhere else to go. It was pretty ugly in there.

I don't understand why anyone would be upset by people wanting an adults only resort. Its not like they said that they wanted an adults only day at each of the parks.

For some one like me who is honeymooning at disney, I would have loved an adult only option.... I doesn't need all the bells and whistles on a deluxe resort, but just a nice relaxing pool with a pool bar, some places to eat and relaxing rooms.

I LOVE disney, and I LOVE children at Disney, but some times if you want to have "adult time" and you don't want to worry about children next door.
