New Resort Idea!!!

Wouldnt it be nice to have Disney open up an ADULT only Resort!

Oh how I wish they would. I have a feeling it would be sold out much of the time. I think this would be a great business opportunity for Disney.

I can get with the idea of an all adult resort. My daughter is now 23 and we still vacation together once in a while, we would not mine an all adult resort. I love and appreciate Disney more now as an adult and continue to take my annual trips down. I would be the first one to book a vacation at an all adult resort, it should definately be a [/I]deluxe (not because of the price but because of the adult only theme). How about a bed and breakfast theme (about 25 rooms) large rooms with balconies overlooking a lagoon, with an on-site restaurant for late dinners, a bar, spa/gym, you can still have a quiet pool and a regular pool and definately an arcade, I love video games too. It should definately be in the boardwalk area. There really should be no reason for anyone to be upset about an all adult resort, I don't get upset when people choose a value over a deluxe, there will be another category; value, moderate, deluxe and deluxe adult. that sounds wonderful, doesn't it... :cheer2:

I love this idea! I had never even HEARD of the DI before, but it sounds like the reason it flopped was b/c they made it more like a nursing home rather than a vacation resort, NOT because it was an adults only resort!!!! They should make something like the Polynesian or AKL with AMAZING theming to it. After all, the main reason people stay on property is because of the theming, magic, and of course, location! You can stay at a typical resort anywhere! But if you want to be immersed in the scents and sounds of Polynesia then you go to the Polynesian. If you want to be immersed in the Victorian era you go to the GF. You want giganticly themed Dalmations you go to the All Star Movies! If you want a general hotel themed for adults only you can go to Sandals or something. But if you want Disney magic you want a REAL Disney hotel.

So until Disney thinks of a great theme for an adults only resort, any they make will not work. The problem they are probably having is thinking of a theme that will appeal to a majority of adults, and thats a hard task considering that they have designed 15 other hotels (Excluding the villas, campgrounds, and DVC ones) aimed to just try to appeal to everyones tastes, and theres no one hotel out of all of the current ones that they would love! So this will be a hard task for Disney but they should definitely consider it!

On a side note b/c I've noticed a few people commenting on this::
But Pleasure Island has kids there at night now!?!! Now don't get me wrong I love kids, but I'm not too thrilled with the idea of having children around drinking adults. Even when the adults are in self-control of themselves while drinking there are going to be PLENTY of other people not with them there who are not. At least, every time I have been to PI, I have seen some very rowdy people (I'm rowdy myself so it takes a LOT for me to think someones being inappropriate) there at night. Sadly I've also seen some very intoxicated people meandering on the main strip there as well! And if kids are walking around and seeing that, it can't make a good impression on them.

I don't really think it would be all that hard to come up with some suitable themeing for an all adult hotel..........how about the Oasis, kind of an escape from kids? :cool1: Oh how about continents of the world, with different floors, or buildings for each of the continents. I think Disney would be safe with any themeing other than toys etc. I love the WL simply because it seems much more adult to me..............Okay any more theme ideas since now we have pretty much agreed that it would be OK for Disney to make an adult only, kid free zone onsite. Perhaps this whole thread should be forwarded to Disney's imagineering dept. :flower:

A tropical oasis? SIGN ME UP! Thats a really good idea and my husband and I would DEFINITELY go for that! Or the continents of the world also! That could definitely go right by Epcot somewhere and it would really fit with Epcots theming as well! :)

Now I like the Oasis theme! That would be really great. Tropical, yet sub-dued with great ambiance! Oh yes, that is a truly great idea!!

WDW OASIS RESORT-an adult-only theme resort.Have like a oasis-water theme in the lobby with big overstuffed chairs to sit around the water. And big huge palm trees lined thru-out the hallways!

Nice airy rooms with wide balconies and soft white sheers flapping in the breeze to the balcony! Oh yea.........its all coming together now!

WHERE ARE THE IMAGINEERS WHEN YA NEED EM????????????????? :goodvibes

i like the idea of a "royalty" theme.... you know plush castle/manor house type of thing.... queen/king for a day bit and all that... that would fit with disney's storybook things but they could still make it very adult...

i like the idea also of an oasis.... do a mediternian thing...

If we go with the Oasis theme how about calling the lounge "Midnight's" ya know "Midnight at the Oasis" song. :)

Anybody wanna watch my kids so Hubby and I can visit this adults only paradise? :rotfl: I'm all for it! :)

This idea is AWESOME! I can practically feel everyone's brains working!

But please, let's not forget to include SOME aspects of Disney. I mean, we are staying at THE OASIS for a reason! Not because it is JUST a hotel, but because it is a Disney Resort ;)

*I think the coconuts in the palm trees around THE OASIS should be shaped like Mickey Mouse*

My mom and I would so be staying there! She's a first grade teacher, I volunteer at the school. We get enough of kids in every day life, plus at the parks, a nice quiet resort would be great!

Thats a good question where are they!? lol I'm getting such a great visual from what you described! And lets not forget THE POOL at the Oasis! There could be sporadic hot tubs throughout the resort as little "Oasis's" and the main pool could be surrounded by palm trees with a light brown bottom to appear as sand. You could even have the restaurant menus there written on Egyptian papyrus and watering sacks hanging from the walls b/c you would need them as you crossed the dessert. Heck, they could make the hallways dessert like so by the time you get to your room it's really LIKE an oasis. With lush green carpeting and sheets and the white sheers flapping in the breeze! :)

And the name midnight is AWESOME!

:earseek:  :cool1:

Great idea! But I really really really want to see Disney take care of the rest of Pop Century. I know the tourism industry is not as strong right now, but they're going to have to spend the money sooner or later to finish building it. Why not just do it and get it over with? The unfinished part is just bad show.

Although I have never been there isn't CSR more of an adult business type resort? That is what I keep reading when I read things about this resort.

An adult only resort might work, but isn't Vegas sort of an Disney World for adults.

I have heard similiar things about CSR but have not tried it out yet. But for those who want a break from children, like teachers and parents who just need a break, the CSR wouldn't fulfill the same purpose that an adult only resort would. I think it's just preference.

Personally I think that Vegas and Disney are not comparable, except perhaps in their dining options, so I don't really think Vegas is the playground for adults. This may be my own biasedness though because I am not a fan of Vegas, with the exception of the great outdoors in Nevada. But to play outdoors you seriously need to leave the hotel area. Disney on the other hand is everyones playground no matter where you are. You don't need to leave your resort to necessarily have fun, whereas in Vegas, unless you are reallly into the dining options, gambling, or the shows they have there you would have to leave the hotel to enjoy yourself. I just think the adult only resort at Disney would really appeal to honeymooners, newlyweds, anniversary goers, TEACHERS who obviously love children, but could use a break every so often from their students often shrill tones, and the elderly wanting a relaxing vacation, because it would help make them feel a bit more secluded. We have to admit it, resorts that are adult only seem a bit less "busy" b/c children run around all over the place having a great time! The absence of that makes a resort seem a bit more relaxed and many adults would like that, despite the fact that Disney is a place where you can recapture your childhood whether you are 12 or 99. Basically it would just give people more hotel options, particularly for those who want to recapture it in their own way, without kids around. I personally love to be around kids so this type of resort would only appeal to me perhaps on my husbands and I's honeymoon or an anniversary. Half the fun of Disney to me is seeing kids run around underfoot, but that obviously would not appeal to everyone. :)

Our "kids" are all adults and we have made 5 trips to WDW without them. We enjoy seeing the small children in the parks, especially with the characters, but it would be nice to have an adults only resort. POFQ would be great for this as it seems to appeal to couples anyway. And, it's not huge.

I know in the evenings we like to relax at the spa and it is sometimes difficult when parents disregard the warnings and let their little ones use the spa like a pool.

Can I drop my little darlings off at "The kids rule the world" kids-only resort, while DH and I drop over to the "Oasis"? :cool1:

Now that would be a vacation. We could just meet up with them in the morning. :rotfl:

Seriously, I think an adults-only resort is a great idea. I have three little boys and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to be around them. :teeth:

I came up with the Oasis theme but all of you have added so much more to the idea! I love the Midnight at the Oasis lounge idea! and the mickey coconuts, now if someone with a little computer knowledge could send this whole thread to Disney and let them know what a great idea it really is we probably could be enjoying it in a couple of years! As far as the CSR I just think it is to spread out and to far away from the adult activities such as PI and Boardwalk. An adult resort I think should be a little more compact, but who knows the way people are replying to this thread it may need to be huge...........especially since many of us are nearing those retirement years!

I like the idea of having the resort on the old Discovery Island. It would be access by boat only. The Oasis surrounded by water. They could have a themed reception area on shore where the transportation to other disney areas as well as parking would be, but there could be a boat directly to the MK from the resort. The resort could also have a marina to rent boats and other water sports like the other MK resorts. An upscale restaurant, large lounge with live music, a pool with a swim-up bar, just let Disney run wild with the theme, the possibilities are endless! I would definately stay there!
