Why would you purchase points in SSr when you could get same amount at VERO for $20 a point less. I just don't see the value, but maybe I am missing something. What are your avg annual fees at your "home resort". You can use points anywhere right??

As for purchasing resale vs direct...

1) 12 additional years in the program at SSR vs all other existing DVC resort.
2) 11/7 priority booking window at home resort - "points are points" at 7 months
3) all Closing costs are included when buying through Disney

and specifically, Vero Beach has higher dues than any other resort becausethe resort was never "bult out" as was originally designed...upping the dues because "common areas" were now shared amongst fewer owners.

Also places like HHI and Vero could be sold out to another company. Not likely IMO but it could happen. You wouldn't have the same benefit of booking other DVC resorts because they would no longer be owned by Disney.

Also those MF's add up quick.

We bought a resale in 2004. We originally purchased 150 points at SSR while we were on vacation. When we returned home, I found out that because of a merger, my team at work was going to be disbanded, so I cancelled within that 15 day window. Since then I moved to a different position within the company, so we again looked into purchasing and decided on the resale. We got 210 points for the same price. I know there are 12 more years on the SSR contract, but my husband and I have just turned 50. I don't think we'll live that long, and I'm not sure our children will have the same interest in Disney years from now. God willing we live to 2042, you will probably see us in our ETV's! We just decided to get the most enjoyment for now.
