New Pool Entry Requirement? Share Wristband Experiences by Resort!

I can report that if the pool is busy at HH - they do ask for a show of room keys.
They get alot of day guest there too. It started raining one day while there. The pool closed and we watched at least 20 people walk across the bridge in their swimsuits and towels. probably one of the easiest pools to access in that area. Park over on the other side of the resort.

Yes, but that is my phone and not my watch. So, having the MB on my wrist is much easier than having to dig that out.

That’s why I wear both!
I think those in the MB sales department are counting on this… the MB’s best feature is not available on the Apple Watch…

sounds like after a period of no enforcement at VGF following Memorial Day, report in the VGF thread yesterday from @mrsap says “Both times we went to pool we had to scan our magic band and they gave us a yellow band, the girl said they have stuff in the works for this.”

Updated first post to include the above. If anyone is on property this weekend and experiences anything, keep us updated!

Thanks for tagging me. Just to clarify, this is not my experience… our friends are at Grand Floridian this week and I asked if they were checking Magic Bands at the pool and that was her reply. Sounds like a step in the right direction. 🙂

whoops! I will edit my post to clarify. thanks @mrsap!!

It’s ok! Either way, it’s good news!! Unfortunately, I still have a few months to wait until I can give you my first hand experience! 😒
sadly we don't have an upcoming trip booked at VGF ...we'll be at BWV in November. hopefully this time next year we'll be at VGF for our 2026 trip!! won't be here soon enough.

IMO, when anyone is talking to Member Services for any reason at all, they should also mention the pool crashers/hoppers situation and complain about the lack of enforcement. Since the pools most affected are all DVC properties, we have a right to enjoy those pools without the addition of non-guests. But if Disney doesn’t hear a constant barrage of complaints, I fear they are unlikely to go to the effort of consistent and effective enforcement.

I’ll be at SSR next weekend and will at least post what is going on at the main pool!

We stayed at AKL Kidani from May 18-24, and there was zero security at the pool our entire stay, except our checkout day. The pool was super busy on our check in day on the 18th, it was a little surprising that there was no secure entrances.

But on our checkout day (Saturday the 24th), we spent the morning at the pool and I was stopped from entering by a woman who didn't explain, just asked for my room number. I had no idea what my room # was even though I stayed in it for 6 nights (haha embarassing), I gave her the wrong number because I was guessing. Then she looked at me funny, and I told her I had my magicband on me and whether she could just scan me? She didn't reply to that. And then I started looking it up on my app when my mom gave her the correct number. We got wristbands and another person escorted me in a different way (I had a stroller). I asked this person why the wristbands were necessary since we hadn't had to use them all week, and she said it was just for Memorial day weekend because they were expecting more crowds at the pool.

I personally thought it was stressful. I've stayed at Poly and Riviera and can recall using my magicband to enter, which I liked because it was more secure than nothing, while also not feeling intrusive. I overheard another man getting heated when they asked for his room # and he yelled at them that this was his third time being asked and he didn't appreciate it (mhmm). Anyway, I get why it was necessary, but it felt clunky at the time for paying a lot of money to stay on property. So that was my experience.

Maybe they just didn't have enough scanners to use them at all the pools that weekend.

And I hope they're getting MB/cell phone scanners so that they can make pool wristbands a routine soon.
