New pirate makeover experience!

I'm not sure when the policy changed, but yes the Boutique does accept treasure (tips) and so will TPL. However, we're not sure what to expect since it's more customary to tip at a hair salon and not to get your face painted. All of the Pirate Masters will split any treasure you give one master, but I really don't have an amount to suggest. After we're open for awhile I can let you know what the average seems to be - even a dollar is more than nothing, so really anything would be appreciated.

Not that you need to give treasure at all - because it's NOT necessary by any means - but we can only accept treasure in the form of cash, it cannot be added to a Credit Card.

Oh I see the dates and the photos of the costumes, so great of you to post all of this info! My ds will be 3 during our trip, he loves pirates, perhaps the night of mnsshp, hope to meet you in person!

I have been reading this thread all day and just booked it for my two daughters, aged 5 and 9 when we go in Aug. I just clicked on your blog, Brenna..I couldn't believe it when I read your name...my youngest is a Brenna as well!! It's not a very common name so I think that's pretty cool. I also think it would be pretty cool if Brenna could get made over by another Brenna!! If it's not asking too much when we get closer to the date maybe we could ask for you if you are there that day? I have it booked for Aug 29th at 4pm. PM me if you think it would be okay? What a coincidence?

What a coincidence I also have an appointment booked on the 29th at 4:00 for my 7 year old DD. My DD's name is also pretty unusual, it is Fiona.

That is so awesome! Our little guy is still little enough to really get into that, he's six :)

My daughter kind of stole the show last year with BBB and the princess lunch. My son was bored.

I'll be looking for more information on it thanks for the tip

Well, look for us and we can compare experiences!! Totally excited by this, it will be a surprise for our girls!!
BTW..LOVE the name Fiona!!

can we make appointments for the pirate crew when we make ADR on the WDW-DINE phone number or does it have to be a separate call?

thanks to anyone who can help

I've been lurking on this thread from the beginning, and I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the info you have given us. My DS6 is so looking forward to this experience; even DS13 is considering it (I think he REALLY wants to, but is just not sure it's COOL enough, aaagh, 13 year olds! I think it's WAY COOL). So fun to finally have something for the boys. Heck, I might even do it myself. I'm going to call and try to get a ressie for Sept. 15th before MNSSHP. Hope to see you there.

Ye should be able to book it on de same number - it just can't be booked on-line (when that system is launched).

No problem!!! I love to help out new recruits, so any questions you have I'll try to answer.

I actually transformed a 14 year-old yesterday, he kept talkin' about some strange box with an X on it (I assume it be where he be keepin' his treasure) but before he can open it he has to pick it up and turn in a complete 360 degree circle. At least, that's what it sounded like he was doin. Maybe you can tell your DS about this savy recruit, he got the Cap'n Jack look with de multiple eyes an' had a high sailin' time.

We will definitely say hi. Fiona already knows she is doing this because it was her choice over doing the BBB again. We are also doing the Pirates and Pals cruise later on that night so it will be a full pirate experience which we are really looking forward to.

When I made my ADR's last week I asked about this. Sorry, I cannot remember what it's called but it's like the boy version of the Bippity Boppity Boutique.... anyway. the CM said there were only 2 packages.. the first one was really small.. something like.. fake teeth, the headscarf, face paint and a 5X7 pic.. it was 50.00. The other package was the entire costume and about 3 pictures I think, and the price was about $125.00. I would love to see photos of this if anyone has them. Maddox really wants to be Buzz Lightyear for the MNSSHP,. but we're going in Sept. and I'm afraid that costume will be too hot for that time of year. I thought maybe we could use this as his costume. I wonder how hot it is? TIA! April

we have signed up for it for sept 11 mnsshp. I don't know how to link it put there is another thread on here in regards to the Pirate League and there are photoes of the costumes and many many questions answered by cm's

Oh thanks so much!! Off to check it out!! That's the day I would need it too! Which package did you get and what time?? Were they getting full? Thanks again! April

The official opening of this adventure is 6/29.

I know this may be "rude" to some to ask, my apologies...but I'd really like to know a good tip amount for the make-over people here and at BBB. Anyone with suggestions (Would love to hear from you on this Brenna...btw I don't have any children named Brenna only because I told a friend how much I loved the name, and she STOLE IT for her little girl! :lmao: Oh, and /jedimindtrick You want to work Tuesday, July 21 around 10:30 am /jedimindtrick!!!)

As a hair stylest, I'll tell you whaty is supposed to be the tip amount for them...the same as a resturant, but only on service. So 15-20% on the service. If you would buy products...or as in this situation, costumes and assessories, you don't need to tip on that amount. Now that is just my opinion, since thats how it works in a salon.
You can tip whatever you want or feel is appropriate.

Emcreative:

I'm sure Berlioz will chime in shortly, but when I took my DD to BBB last year they WOULD NOT, no matter how much I tried, take a tip from me. And believe me, I can be persuasive, ;) but they were insistent that they would not take the tip.

That policy change over a year ago. I know March 2008 they were allowed to take take then, and I think it started a few months before that. But the old policy was no tipping at all.

I booked this morning and after a 7 minute hold, I got a 9:15 appointment for DD and DS. I was hoping for 8:30 but I will take what I can get. She said to arrive 15 minutes prior to appointment time. My question is since that is right at park opening, do I just book it down main street at park opening or will thye let us in like 10 or 5 of to go to the appointment? I was hoping to go in a few minutes early to savor Main Street since it will be our first day there. I didn't really want to have to rush down Main street to make it to the appointments. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

They have a entrance for early ADR's, I think it is one of the side turnstyles?

The League doesn't open until 9 - so that's why there was no 8:30 available.

I will check tomorrow, but I would think they'd let 9 am appts in early, I'm not sure about 9:15.

Thanks a bunch! She said appointments start at 8  and said come 15 minutes early so that is why I was wondering what to do.
