This will be my first trip to WDW, and I'm so excited to be going with my DBF and 2 DS.They all think I'm planning too much and reading too much on the DIS, but I've gotten such invaluable info here! I praying for good weather for the plane flights so we can just get down there on schedule. lol My only regret is not being able to get a BOG ressie for dinner, but I'm not too sad since we can just go there for lunch. Actually switched my resort from CSR to the Poly...looking forward to watching Wishes from the Poly beach at night.

Hi all!
My DH and I just booked our vacation for February 24 - March 1 at the Polynesian!!
We are heading down to celebrate the end of his chemo treatments and to give us a nice break before he has to start radiation treatments.
I'm hoping it won't be crazy busy with the marathon taking place that previous weekend!
In the back of my mind, I've always thought it would be neat to travel WDW alone. You get to do your plans at your pace. And all of those single rider lines!Pnerissa said:Did I mention that will be my very first trip to Disney EVER?? And as if that weren't bad enough, it looks like I'll be going by myself! *gasp!*

IMO, you can never plan too much! People just don't understand how much time you can save by planning and getting good tips before you go!Meihara said:Almost a week for me too! This is really good to hear! I was a bit nervous about the lingering marathon crowd... The crowd calendar I used said 2/24 should be a 5 and then it drops down to 3 and 4s through 2/28Kathymford said:I think most people leave the day or two after the marathon. I was assuming most would be leaving either that night (24th) or Monday sometime. We have the same dates (almost!) Feb 24-Mar 2! But, alas, it is just value for me this trip! Have fun!
I'm with you on the price of the cruise ! It's insane how expensive it is. We have friends cruising out of Galveston on the disney ship and it would cost us around 4800.00 for the four of us!! ( the week of Mardi gras) No way. I'm paying about a third of that to go to disney for 6 days !

We had a Disney cruise booked for May of last year and when free dining came out I had to cancel it. I was like you...I could go to Disney for 7 days for 1/2 the cost! Don't get me wrong...I bet the Disney cruises are awesome but I would rather take more trips. This year we have 3 trips planned to Disney and that is mostly due to the fact that we are now DVC members and have an annual pass. Thank you DVC! LOL

I have been for this weekend before. The Princess Half this year is on the 25th. It's not bad though. The crowd numbers you are seeing are because the 25th will be the last Saturday for the hoards of folks who went to WDW for Presidents Week vacation. They will be clearing out mainly that Sunday (the 26th) and the numbers will drop much lower.
The marathon itself doesn't make the parks crazy. The only thing it does affect is the travel routes to and from the parks and that can cause delays. But since you will be at a monorail resort it should be fine.
I have a story.. the day of the Princess Half in 2011 we went to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. It was EMPTY that morning. In fact, my husband, son and I rode Haunted Mansion.. BY OURSELVES. It wasn't even the first ride we went to. We did Splash and Thunder Mountain first and then headed to Haunted Mansion. We were the only people in line, the stretching room, and on the entire ride!!! Very surreal. It picked up later in the day.
Now this year will be busier because of the holiday week ending, but once those crowds are gone it will be smooth sailing.![]()

Canooknic said:So we have booked a MYW package through our TA, ME tags were received but nothing else.
I contacted my TA about the vouchers - I know they aren't a huge deal and we'll probably only use the Planet Hollywood one and possibly a few arcade credits - but she says they don't come from her and we'll get them when we check in.
Does this sound right?![]()
Good morning y'all!
I was looking at the WDW menus this morning and thought this was pretty funny. La Cantina de San Angel
Empanadas de Queso - Fried corn masa filled with chihuahua cheese topped with green sauce, served with corn tortilla chips.
I did a double take and had to look it up just to see what chihuahua cheese is.
