*** New Official February 2013 Thread ***

Hi all!

My DH and I just booked our vacation for February 24 - March 1 at the Polynesian!! :hyper:

We are heading down to celebrate the end of his chemo treatments and to give us a nice break before he has to start radiation treatments.

I'm hoping it won't be crazy busy with the marathon taking place that previous weekend!

Almost a week for me too! This will be my first trip to WDW, and I'm so excited to be going with my DBF and 2 DS. :) They all think I'm planning too much and reading too much on the DIS, but I've gotten such invaluable info here! I praying for good weather for the plane flights so we can just get down there on schedule. lol My only regret is not being able to get a BOG ressie for dinner, but I'm not too sad since we can just go there for lunch. Actually switched my resort from CSR to the Poly...looking forward to watching Wishes from the Poly beach at night. :)

We'll be at Poly too! 2/3-2/9. Which longhouse did you request?

I think most people leave the day or two after the marathon. I was assuming most would be leaving either that night (24th) or Monday sometime. We have the same dates (almost!) Feb 24-Mar 2! But, alas, it is just value for me this trip! Have fun!

So.... Who was able to secure a Dessert Party reservation for 2 today???? THIS GIRL!!!! Woohoo!!! What are the odds? I was so excited I was shaking LOL

Did I mention that will be my very first trip to Disney EVER?? And as if that weren't bad enough, it looks like I'll be going by myself! *gasp!*

In the back of my mind, I've always thought it would be neat to travel WDW alone. You get to do your plans at your pace. And all of those single rider lines! :)

IMO, you can never plan too much! People just don't understand how much time you can save by planning and getting good tips before you go!

This is really good to hear! I was a bit nervous about the lingering marathon crowd... The crowd calendar I used said 2/24 should be a 5 and then it drops down to 3 and 4s through 2/28

I'm with you on the price of the cruise ! It's insane how expensive it is. We have friends cruising out of Galveston on the disney ship and it would cost us around 4800.00 for the four of us!! ( the week of Mardi gras) No way. I'm paying about a third of that to go to disney for 6 days !

We had a Disney cruise booked for May of last year and when free dining came out I had to cancel it. I was like you...I could go to Disney for 7 days for 1/2 the cost! Don't get me wrong...I bet the Disney cruises are awesome but I would rather take more trips. This year we have 3 trips planned to Disney and that is mostly due to the fact that we are now DVC members and have an annual pass. Thank you DVC! LOL

Woohoo. See, that's what I'm talking about! :)

I've had two cruises booked now, and have cancelled them both. My problem is, money wise I would have to do one or the other and I just can't skimp on WDW just yet. Just 2-3 days there is not enough. Maybe because we haven't been on a cruise yet, but I'm all in for WDW right now.

Now if they would have some non-Mexico cruises from LA so we didn't have to fly...that's another story. I wish they would do the pacific coast cruises again, because I missed those last year. But I just don't think they are that popular here. Not when you can go carnival for half the price.

Such a well deserved trip! I cannot begin to imagine the heartache your family is living, but with good spirits and positive attitude, your DH will kick the big C in the nuts! I hope you have a wonderful and magical time at the world and that you're able to forget about your trials during that time.

My best wishes for him! LIVESTRONG!

My DH told me I am such a blonde lol.

I am getting a little overwhelmed at the thought of leaving in 5 days. I have my ticker set to the hour we are supposed to leave the house, but I decided to turn it back to the hour we are going to arrive at MK so it feels like I have more time to get all the shopping, packing, cleaning, etc done. :)

Getting sooooo close. I'm prepared but still feel a little behind. I can't contain myself:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I see another opening at 1900 Park Fare if anyone is interested. Feb 5 at 4:45pm for either 3 or 4 people.

Congratulations on your trip and what a wonderful reason to celebrate! I hope you have a wonderful time!!:)

I have been for this weekend before. The Princess Half this year is on the 25th. It's not bad though. The crowd numbers you are seeing are because the 25th will be the last Saturday for the hoards of folks who went to WDW for Presidents Week vacation. They will be clearing out mainly that Sunday (the 26th) and the numbers will drop much lower.
The marathon itself doesn't make the parks crazy. The only thing it does affect is the travel routes to and from the parks and that can cause delays. But since you will be at a monorail resort it should be fine.

I have a story.. the day of the Princess Half in 2011 we went to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. It was EMPTY that morning. In fact, my husband, son and I rode Haunted Mansion.. BY OURSELVES. It wasn't even the first ride we went to. We did Splash and Thunder Mountain first and then headed to Haunted Mansion. We were the only people in line, the stretching room, and on the entire ride!!! Very surreal. It picked up later in the day.
Now this year will be busier because of the holiday week ending, but once those crowds are gone it will be smooth sailing.:)

So we have booked a MYW package through our TA, ME tags were received but nothing else.

I contacted my TA about the vouchers - I know they aren't a huge deal and we'll probably only use the Planet Hollywood one and possibly a few arcade credits - but she says they don't come from her and we'll get them when we check in.

Does this sound right? :confused3

Actually the half is on Sunday the 24th. I think some of your dates are confused.

I would agree about the parks. At DL the morning of Tink, DL was EMPTY. It was fantastic.

10 days to go!!

Anyone else with Final Countdown on repeat on their mind?!

Good morning y'all!

I was looking at the WDW menus this morning and thought this was pretty funny. La Cantina de San Angel

Empanadas de Queso - Fried corn masa filled with chihuahua cheese topped with green sauce, served with corn tortilla chips.

I did a double take and had to look it up just to see what chihuahua cheese is.

Hi! That doesn't seem right. When you book through TA, Disney sends all info to them & then they give it to you. For instance, I booked MYW Package through AAA. My AAA TA mailed me an envelope that included my DME Yellow tags & Disney Vacation/Itinerary (booklet containing check-in/out detail, Wishes & Story Time Experience, Refillable mug, PH $15 voucher & PH Souvenir. Dining Plan info, etc.).

To my understanding this is how it is with all TA. Disney deals direct with TA & then they in turn provide you with detail/travel info. So that's why if you are signed up on Disney website, you can enter your confirmation # & it shows who your TA is & to contact them direct. If you call Disney, CM will advise you the same.

I hope this helps! CALL YOUR TA!!!
