***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

We are here at WDW staying on site with AP. No MB. Our resort starts testing the day after we leave. We arrived at DHS this morning to find out that Toy Story Mania was out of FP @ 9:16. For those of us without MB, we can only stand in the line and watch those with MB enjoying their Fast Pass they scheduled at home. I really don't appreciate MY vacation being part of a testing phase especially when I am in the control group and not the testing group.

It seems if WDW would only allow the FP+ to be scheduled while in the park (like the FP is done now but with the MB), it would work. I fear it will be just like the dining plan. The reservations for the more popular restaurants are gone as soon as the 90-day booking window opens !! The FP+ are going to be snatched up as soon as the reservation window opens and if you are arriving a few days later than someone else and couldn't go on line to schedule your FP+ , you'll be in the lines with no option of getting a FP+. Enjoy your vacation !!

Don't know but FP- could have also taken up a bunch of FP slots.. You are right though being able to sit
at home weeks before picking a time was a big advantage,,,

This is the first I've really heard that FP+ is having a true impact on regular FP. It initially seemed like they were independent - but I've also never seen FP for any attraction run out that early.

TSM is, unfortunately, and extreme example, along with Soarin', of an attraction whose popularity does not match its capacity.

Perhaps you found that because the window actually opens at 180 days, and you were three months too late? :)

I feel for you. That would annoy me too.

I really hope this is not a glimpse into the future.

I have the an Annual Pass for our upcoming trip over New Yrs. We are staying off property from after Christmas til after New Yrs then staying a few days at BWV on pts. I have my tix and room only ressies entered on MDEx. My question is since we have an Annual pass (it's not activated yet, we will do that when we get tgere but the voucher numbers are linked to us) we will be going to WDW at least twice while we are staying off property, will we be anle to make FP+ ressies for these days before we stay on property?

As it stands right now, no...you won't be able to make selections until the first qualifying day, which is enabled by your on-site reservation. After that, it seems as an AP holder with a MB, you can make FP+ selections at will, up to a max of 7-14 days (whatever seems to be working at the time ;) ) of outstanding FP+ selections.

Hey all,

I had two questions concerning the MBs and whether they would benefit us on our upcoming trip. Our plans are somewhat complicated (at least, they seem complicated) and I was curious whether I should bother setting up the MBs at all or just go with the flow:

We will be doing a split stay with part of our party (3) checking in on November 29 at AoA. I have this reservation linked up to MDE and I noticed today that the MBs are showing and it's giving me the option to customize our bands. That's all fine and dandy - the problem arises on December 2, when we switch resorts to BLT under my aunt's DVC reservation (where the rest of our party - 4 others - will be joining us). Even though the reservation is under my aunt's name, would I still be able to link that up to my MDE account (she did mention that she has my name listed as joint-owner or something like that) and customize like normal? I'm already aware that we will probably be sent two sets of bands due to the split stay.

Secondly, we have yet to purchase our park tickets and may not do so until we arrive in the World. Would we still be able to link those up to the bands even after arriving and checking into our resort?

If I have a Fastpass + for 3pm at Space Mountain could I get a standard Fastpass for Buzz at 3:30?

or

If I have Fastpass + for 3pm and one for Buzz at 4:30pm could I get a standard Fastpass for BTM at 4pm? I am just trying to figure all this out! Thanks!

I can only suggest that you try. If you are listed on the reservation, it may work...otherwise, have her link it on her DMX account, and link your DMX accounts together, and it should all work.

Secondly, we have yet to purchase our park tickets and may not do so until we arrive in the World. Would we still be able to link those up to the bands even after arriving and checking into our resort?

Yes. Guest Relations or the resort should be able to handle it.

However, you won't be able to make any FP+ selections until it is done.

Yes. The two systems are unaware of each other.

Excellent!

Thank you for the quick and thorough response! :thumbsup2

I am hearing news that rides like toy story are sold out before the day starts due too MDE reservations. You can go the morning of and get a fast pass I know that rides always sells out but can someone explain how this is going to work. Can I use my band to get a fast pass on a ride when I am at the park or do I need to plan my trip down to my rides now!!!!

If there is availability, yes. That availability thing is the great unknown.

Wow does anyone else think that stinks? I really don't understand why they want you to prebook rides. I think people will max book and just have no shows and hurt people at the parks. Old system worked fine I get making it paperless but I am not looking forwards to this part. Hope I am wrong

The flip side of that is that the old system precluded people who arrive at the park late in the morning or early afternoon from getting FPs at the most popular attractions, especially at the busiest times of year, because they would be all gone.

I'm sure Disney gets a lot of comments from people who have kids who are excited about a certain attraction, and they think they will be able to get a FP for it if the line is too long. Then when they arrive they find that the standby line is 2 hours long and FPs are all gone for the day. This system will give them a better chance to experience those attractions as long as they do a little advance planning.

People pulling, then not using, FPs is going to be an issue either way. Some people get FPs and keep them as souvenirs and others may get FPs with return times that are several hours out, but then leave the park, or are doing something else, when the time comes up. I am sure there is some kind of "overbooking" for no shows built into the system.

Disney seems to be straining to avoid a "front of line" system that costs extra like Universal has. How much howling would there be if Disney were to go to that? Frankly, as regular visitors who know our way around the parks, and who understand crowd and loading patterns, we would be just as happy if FPs were eliminated completely. They didn't exist until 2000 and we got along just fine.

I agree you have some valid points but I just am not liking having to plan another aspect of your trip so far in advance. I am going in May and just had to make a plan for dining. Now I am going to have to plan our park days months in advance. Hey I get picking one ride early on one day for resort guests. To help newbies out but I feel for people who know the drill it's going to be annoying. Hey we all know first thing when you go to Hollywood you run to toy story for a fast pass then start your day.

They specifically stated that they didn't want people taking time while in the parks to decide what they wanted to do, but to be doing things. They believe that will translate into $$$.

The limiting factor on FP+ pre-booking is the maximum 3. You can't book everything in a single day, and you can't book an attraction more than once. I supposed they believe that will maintain availability and flexibility, but I also think that it won't work well at all at DHS where there is little to choose from that warrants a FP+.

Still, regular FP running out that early, even for TSM, on a normal park day? But hasn't DHS been closing a bit early lately?

To be fair, it couldn't be done in August when one of my daughters bought a DVC AP. She had to wait until she got to the resort and redeemed the voucher before she could link her AP to her MB. Sometime between August and September that obstacle was removed.

Sure, OK. But he still insisted it couldn't be done AFTER I told him we did it with 5 DVC exchange certs... ... :confused3
