New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Yesterday, I took Emme to the mall for the first time, although she didn't see any of it, she slept the whole time. I had in my pouch sling and she liked it, which is unusual for her. Of course we stopped by the Disney store and my girl is going to be decked out in this for Easter: http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...&productId=1223698&langId=-1&categoryId=11854

I also got her a cute soft Easter basket that I figure we can use for the next decade.

Oh, I just realized she is 5 weeks old today! Wow does the time fly...

I have a question for you BTDT moms, when were you able to start exercising and when were you able to have sex again? I checked my weight the other day and I have lost 30 pounds since my due date doing nothing but nursing. My girl is sucking the weight out of me. I still have 7 more pounds to go for baby weight, plus my extra weight I shouldn't have had in the first place. My post partum visit isn't until 8 weeks because the doctor is all booked up. I would like to start exercising (we have a fitness center in our complex) and DH is interested in the other thing....lol!

First of all...love the dress...to cute :goodvibes

I was told to wait 6 weeks to have sex but I have some stitches and it takes 4-6 weeks for them to disolve. As for exercising I would wait until after your postpartum appt. just to make sure everything is good to go.

I need to unsubscribe from this thread but hope to rejoin you all sometime. I just found out that our baby had no heartbeat. I am having a D&C this afternoon. I was 15 weeks on Sunday so I am really shocked. Good luck to all!

I don't know if you have unsubscribed yet, but you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry! :(

Tif, good luck with the ortho! Sounds like she is growing great though :)

Okay, that maternity outfit is horrid! I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to wear that!

As for exercising and sex, the hosptial told me 4 weeks minimum. They also told me not to drive for 2 weeks. I did light walking before my post partum check up. I did go in at 4 weeks due to the health issues I had at delivery instead of the usual 6. At 4 weeks my stitches still had about 2 weeks more to heal. So I was told to wait until at least 6 weeks. Even then I was still sore, so we waited a few extra days just in case. I admit at 2 weeks, driving was still not as much fun. I know my body had a lot more healing to do since it was recovering from kidney failure, low liver function and clotting issues. So I wouldn't take me as normal. However, I also wouldn't do any serious exercising or sex until you are given the all clear.
You are doing great though with weight loss! I can't imagine being able to drop that much so quickly! I was lucky, I only gained 18 pounds so that went away very quickly. I still haven't gotten back into my routine of exercising yet, partially because of the weather (I prefer walking outside) and partially because we had a rough time with reflux with Dom at first.

I put together Mo's activity center today! :cool1: :cheer2: IT'S AWESOME! He gets a little frustrated at first because he's not sitting up too well yet, so I lean him forward. But once he sees the different toys and I start moving them around for him, he's okay with it! IT'S PRETTY COOL! :thumbsup2

Here are some pics of him and his new toy! :thumbsup2

And Elaine....I LOVE the new pic of Dom in your avatar!!! AWESOME! :goodvibes :cloud9:

WTG on the weight loss.

Anyone know how to transition a baby into their crib? Seriously!? Aiden had me up all night... tossing and turning. Plus the past 2 weeks, once he is comphy, he has got to be laying ON my arm and SMOOSHED right up against me. Love my little man but I hate anyone sleeping up against me. I over heat easily.
I think it was too hot (amazing I didn't figure it out a lot quicker then I did!) and he likes thick pillows (yeah they shouldn't use pillows, tell him that), someone took off my good pillows and gave me old crummy ones). Dh slept right through it except when Aiden kicked him *ha*.
Normally he sleeps really good but last night, someone turned off my a/c and it got to 77 (we keep it around 70-- amazing 7 degrees makes!). I'd go back to bed (now that he is comphy) but alas I have some cleaning people coming over to help me out today @ 8am. *waaaaaaaaaaaaah*

I'm not sure I can help you as Mo sleeps well in his crib or bassinet. I never co-slept in fear of forgetting my son was there. I've fallen asleep while he's on my breast, but him detaching usually wakes me right up! OW!! :rolleyes1

hello everyone!

We are still awaiting our referral for Abigail's hips, but besides that, she is doing just fine.

Here are some proud mommy updated photos - I added a couple to my sig also!

Tif, those pictures are soo cute. How old is she now?

This weekend my dad came down and brought Emmaline's crib and dresser, so now she has a nursery. I'll post a picture later. It's a very nice Basset crib and dresser that his co-worker gave him. It was bought 4 years ago and used for his two sons and they didn't want it anymore. She is napping in her big crib right now, although at night we keep her in the bassinet or the bed with me. The nights are still pretty rough for her and me.

As to getting her to sleep in the crib or bassinet, the ONLY things that work are laying her in there, already asleep on her left side and tucking a blanket in to keep her legs down. She's a kicker and flailer. Now this doesn't always work because my girl has reflux and is colicky every night. The other day she fell asleep in her crib for the first time staring at her Piglet bumper. It was a milestone :)

HI everyone.. I had my 21 week appt on Sat and they did another ultrasound.
Apparently this picture shows the girl parts, but I can't really tell!

And here's the head and hands. I love her already!

Also I may have BV, though I don't know how I would get it. OB did a culture and started me on antibiotics, because apparently BV is very dangerous to have in pregnancy if not treated. I hope I continue to have a healthy pregnancy.

Abigail turned 4 months on 03/08 and she is turned into a little coo monster and giggle monster. She gets so excited when we put her on her changing table or when it is bath time. She loves the water from the faucet. We use her tub with the plug pulled out and allow the water to flow on her belly (kind of like a shower) She is trying to put her toes in the faucet and grabs at the water. IT is tooooooooooo cute!

Wish I could help with getting a baby to transfer to sleeping on his own, but we're still working on Owen. He sleeps smooshed up against me on his right side and my left side, with his head on my left arm. He's like a furnace! We often both wake up drenched in sweat. Eeeewwww! And of course I wake up with every little fidget of his, so between that and nursing him every 3 hours I get hardly any sleep.

Right now I'm just trying to get Owen to sleep in his cradle for naps, and even that is hard. He wants to be held ALL THE TIME! It was sweet and snuggly at first, but now it's a pain. I can't get anything done and we've broken down and are hiring a college student from our church to come in and be a mother's helper for me. I'm giving up my trips to the coffee shops and buying more crafty stuff to pay for her, but I just don't know what else to do. The house is a mess, I'm constantly tired, and Owen STILL won't sleep by himself.

So we're trying all kinds of sleep positioners - started with the cheapest ones, and gradually moving up in price. And we're reading everything we can get our hands on about babies and sleep. I'd love to try the Amby Baby bed/hammock, but I can't afford to buy one to try it out and have it not work. Wish I knew someone around here who had one I could borrow, or even just bring Owen over to their house to see if he'd get used to it!

Yep, those are definitely girl parts! I can see it for sure, having had a girl already. ;) And BV is very common in pregnancy so don't worry too much. As far as how you would get it, just your hormones changing due to the pregnancy can cause that. As long as you are on antibiotics it will be fine. I had it twice when I was pregnant with my dd but haven't had it this time yet. My pregnancies have been like night and day though.

Hi ladies! I just wanted to pop in and say we had another Level II today. Since the OB appointments are such a waste of time  , I really look forward to these! We were there for about an hour again, and both girls are doing well! Baby A is measuring approximately 1lb, 6 ounces; Baby B is at about 1 lb, 5 ounces. They are thrilled that they are sticking so close in weight to one another! I'm thrilled about that, but moreso that they seem to be right on track for twin weight by gestation, despite my difficulty in gaining any weight! Even a singleton weighs in at just over a pound at 23 weeks, and about 1.5 pounds at 24 weeks.... I'm 23w4d. Seems perfect to me, and maybe even a bit big considering they are multiples (and considering we are 100% certain of dates, etc). I'm thrilled. Now I know I don't really have to "catch up" on my weight gain -- they just steal it all anyway, which is fine with me! :thumbsup2

Everything else looked great -- 4 heart chambers, good blood flow, all measurements looked good. Even my fluid levels are up a bit, thankfully! They still spent a ton of time on anatomy (x2) of course, so not a lot of fun pictures.... but better than last time! Baby B even opened her mouth in what I swear looked like a smile! ;)

I hope you all are doing well!

No posts in 3 days...where is everyone?? :confused3 :guilty:

We just came back last night after having spent 3 nights at my dads cabin.
Everything going well here. I was totally exhausted after last weekend since my son had his confirmation at church and we had 60 guests over for lunch and cake afterwards. The three days at the cabin doing nothing except sleeping, eating and sitting in the jaccuzzi were a great reward!

Baby boy keeps keeping me awake at night with all the kicking but otherwise I can´t complain. This has been a really easy pregnancy and I really hope it stays that way til the end. My due date is May 10th and my students don´t take their exam until May 2nd. So I have to stick around at school until then.

Look forward to hearing from the rest of you all :)

Hi guys :goodvibes

Sorry I have not been around much but I'm trying to get the house put back together and cleaned before my DH's mom gets in from Alaska. She is spending the weekend to visit her new grandson.

Chase is doing well. He is on only formula now as my milk dried up on me. We have him taking 3 oz every 3 hours or so. I think he is about ready for 4 oz. He still can't sleep flat but he is starting to squrim in his boppy so we will need to try something different here shortly.

Hope everyone has a great Easter!!!

Hi I have a question... Since about 18 weeks I get on and off pressure on my bladder, some times it's worse than others. First time this happened, I went to the OB who scared me into thinking it was my cervix opening up!!! (It wasn't, I got a cervix check at the perinatologist's office and it measured 4.1cm!) since then, I got the feeling about 3 times. I'm only 22 1/2 weeks, and I haven't really read about anyone else having the same problem this early. Can someone ease my mind and tell me it's normal?! Could it be because the baby's head is resting on my bladder sometimes? (Got an ultrasound on Sat. and the head was low to the left)
Today I feel fine, Friday and Sat, I had the pressure.
Thanks guys!

Same thing happened to me with both pregnanies. Just the baby giving you a reminder that she/he is still there (just in the wrong position for you). It will come and go.
Totally normal.

Abigail had her 4 month shots on Tuesday and a check up!

She is now 12 lbs and 4 oz and 25 inches long!!! She is very long and all of her pants are too short now. She is finally wearing 0 - 3 month clothes ok, and the 3 - 6 months are way too big for her.

Also, she is being referred to an Ortho specialist for her hips. The doctor is concerned about her range of motion and just wants to make sure that there are no problems. Abigail had an ultrasound when she was about 6 weeks old and got the ok then, but now there is alot of stiffness and our doctor is afraid this could cause problems later for her.

I'll keep you posted and update with some photos later.

Tif

Are the 4 mo. shots as bad as the first? I am so not looking forward to that appt. We are having the same problem with the clothing. The 0-3 stuff is officially outgrown- today I put Grayson in a one piece sleeper type outfit and he couldn't stretch his legs! The stuff without feet looks like capris. But he still fits into them in everything but length. He was 11 lbs. 14 oz. at his 1 month appt. so I imagine he'll be another 3 lbs. or so at his 2 month. I'm not sure if I should move him up a size in diapers- I've got this case of Swaddlers that has 200+ diapers in it, and I'm afraid if I open them he won't get through them all!

I hope all is ok with her hips!
