I slid on those big metal slides and played on those jungle gyms. I guess I was lucky to never get hurt. I don't think I ever saw a kid get hurt on them while I was in school.Amazingly, we never thought of it as dangerous at all. In fact, we fought for the first place in line. I would spend hours just climbing up and sliding down. Helter Skelter.
Many years later I was with my young daughters while they tried their best to play softball, A little girl was playing on one of those and fell from the top. She broke her arm in the fall, and I mean completely, she got up and ran to her parents holding here arm up level straight out at the elbow while the lower part was just dangling down held together only by muscle and skin. I mentioned that to one of my daughters a few weeks ago and boy did she remember seeing it and said that she never went on a slide after that and it still sent shivers up here spine just thinking about it. That girl would be in her 50's now and I often wonder how well it healed and if she had problems later on with it.
My dreaded childhood dentist was Dr. Fillinger. Our childhood dentist was Dr. Kleenoff - not sure of the spelling, but that how it was pronounced.

My childhood dentist was Dr. Smilack, who never smiled (or used Novocain properly). His son joined the practice as young Dr. Smilack, but at least he didn’t lack smiles (or want the patients to feel pain). My dreaded childhood dentist was Dr. Fillinger.
Mine knocks things off the night stand (or attacks one of the other beasts)Oh man - been there, but mine comes with loud noises too!
We had a dentist in our area named Dr. Toothman. Claimed it really was his family name. Our childhood dentist was Dr. Kleenoff - not sure of the spelling, but that how it was pronounced.
