I was out in Santa Rosa, NM this weekend (holding open water certification at Blue Hole) and had some time Saturday afternoon to take some pictures. The city is on the historic Route 66 and has some very interesting sites. All of the shots are of old or crumbling building or items that I find fascinating.

Let me know what you think of these selective few.

Old crumbling stone Church, caught the moon overhead:

Another shot more straight on:

A black and white version of the front of the old church:

The old Courthouse building at sunset. I like the round windows that you can see from both sides.

I like these! A bit blown but I am not sure how it could be fixed if the sun was super bright. I love that last one!

courthouse is my favorite..love the light :thumbsup2

I really like these! I'm always drawn to shape and texture and these have both!

Well done Kevin,,, show us some more. We like pictures!!! :teeth:

Thanks for the comments!

The courthouse was/is one of my favorites as well. Gotta love that "beautiful light"!!

Rachel; funny, my histogram shows them being OK. The top photo is close, but not clipped. Might have to re-calibrate my monitor again......

I like the strong shapes and varied textures! Do you have any more? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Love that old style architecture. Here's a few more;

An old Conoco Fuel sign. The station was gone and this was all that was left.

An decaying sign for the truck stop, now long abandoned.

A new sign for the Santa Rosa Auto Musuem. Hot Rod on a stick!

just a thought about the "blown highlights"... the color ones look fine to me but the b& w conversion looks a little blown...this has happened to me with a few B&w, orignal is fine, looks blown on conversion..anyone know why this happens or how to correct, maybe underexpose if converting to b&w? i really like the high contrasty look with b&w but wonder if that makes some "too white" which is mistaken for blown highlights

hmmmayb i should have posted this somewhere else , not trying to derail tinksdad
