Wanted to start a new thread that starts from closing and deed recorded on OCC website (http://or.occompt.com/recorder/web/login.jsp) to receipt of member number to book first trip. Our timeline is as follows…

3/26 Offer accepted
3/29 Sent for ROFR
4/24 Waived for ROFR
5/20 Cleared estoppel
5/26 Closing docs received
5/27 Closing docs returned (buyer and seller)
5/28 Closed
6/1 Deed recorded OCC
6/3 Paperwork rec'd at Disney for member number processing
Currently waiting for member number (need to book trip for end of July on banked points that expire 8/1)

My in-laws just closed on a contract and obtained their member number in 8 calendar days from OCC recording. As others have also reported, they did receive a letter in the mail dated the same day they obtained the number over the phone (the letter arrived about 5 days after the phone call). The emergence of the letters containing the member number being timely sent so reservations can be made is a positive change for new members in my opinion. The letter further advised that the actual ID cards and Vacation Planner would be sent in 10 - 14 days.

As a data point, and this may be a new trend, but it should be noted that Member Accounting, where so many have had recent luck in obtaining their numbers, would not provide the number. Two different Member Accounting reps cited the same "canned" verbiage that there was a "rumor" out there that they could provide the member numbers, but this was no longer the case. They both went on to say that Member Administration handles the Resales and they were the only department who could provide the number and would be glad to transfer the call to them. The call was transferred and Member Admin WAS glad to provide the number, the club Id, and the site activation code. They also made a reservation for my in-laws in the same call.

We'll have to see if others report similar data points to reinforce that Accounting is no longer giving out member numbers.

That is great news! Thanks for sharing the details. So your parents called member accounting on day 8?

Yes, they were about to hit the seven month mark and wanted to do everything they could to try to get a reservation; they're glad they called and were happy to prove me wrong since I said they were wasting their time.
