Will you seasoned DVC owners take a look at my post for rental and see why I get no response at all? Should I lower the price to $10? I can wait until the end of May to bank those points. But I would not be able to transfer after I bank, right? We just got back from OKW in Feb. I am think about going again next January. But I will be able to use next year's points then.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Jane

Don't change your price what I may suggest is talk to icy dog and see if he can help you move them. I would make a reservation for x mas week or pres week if you can and post them on e bay that is where ours go and for quite a bit more than 11 a point.

I put ours up for $11 also, and I had people reply, maybe put your email address. That could help.

Dear Jane:

(Hey I'm not getting a dear John letter, I'm writting one!)

I think you were too terse in your text. New renters need lots of hand-holding and explanations. Also, the just closed line, makes it seem you may be brand new. (Which you are not, I know, I know.....)

The way I think (Yes I know, perhaps no one else thinks this way, but...)

For the same price per point, I'll rent from the renter with more experience, a written contract and referrences.

I think $11.00 is good for the DVC rent board (Guys don't flame me again today, please wait 24 hours, PLEASE), I mean an 'average' price, but most re-peat renters I think either go again with the prior seller, or shop for price.

Also you have missed the 11 month window when OKW points might have had the most bang for the buck (Xmas, Easter, President's Week, etc.)

I agree EBAY offers you $15+ a point, but to get that, I would want the seller to be both square seller verified and travel verified, as well as taking Credit Cards. This is some extra work for a casual renter.

Just my 2 cents. I did not mean to criticize, but to analyze and suggest. I hope it reads that way!

P.S. I'll give you 8.23 per point! (Kidding, just kidding!)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I did think about the being new factor. I had several timeshares for years and one of the reason that I decided to buy is because of the flexibility DVC offers. We own RCI points, and I was never able to get it to work because of the numerous fee they charge.

I am not new to ebay though and I can take credit card charge. I updated my post to include my email. I think I will start a new one in a few days if that does not work. I am willing to lower to $10/points before I go to ebay.

Charles, how far in advance do you place your reservation on ebay?

5 months prior is when I post them it gets those people that are looking for last minute trips and those that are looking for a deal on a great place to stay at WDW.

Don't lower your points cost. You are at bare minimum now. If you decide to bank your points, then want to take a vacation. Borrow from next year for the vacation this year. We've banked points once or twice only to decide we wanted to make a reservation in the same use year. So we borrowed from the next year to make the current reservation. No problem at all.

Don't worry about it.

Is it easy to make changes to the reservations (like changing the name of people staying, switching resorts, etc.) or is it better to know all the details in advance?

I bumped you up to the first page, Jane. You were buried on page two.

Thanks a lot for your help, everyone! I got a few inquiries and made one reservation :flower: Even though it is only for 16 points, I feel pretty happy making the call and getting through the process for the first time.

One of the flexiblity I was counting on when I bought DVC is to be able to rent the points if I cannot use. With my other timeshare, I feel really lucky if I can rent to recover my yearly cost.
