New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

Exactly. I am still flabbergasted (after all these years you'd think I wouldn't be) that so many just assume this has to be all about money, nothing about safety at all.

Is there any reason they can't hold the off site guests at TTC until a later time?

I don't think so. They are basically letting everyone pile into Main Street before opening instead of right outside the train station. They are not differentiating between on-site vs offsite because the park opens at 9:00 for everyone. I get that Main Street can hold a lot more people, but again with early EMH and people being let into Main Street by 8:30, (well we don't know when they will start letting people in, but has to be a fair amount of time before the show starts) how does a resort guest who gets there at 8:40 for EMH get past the crowds on Main Street. Right now, they always have the turnstiles to the left open for resorts guests to enter early for EMH. Unless they let resort guests go behind the stores on Main Street on EMH mornings???

Does anyone know that they'll be letting off site guests in to see the opening show on EMH mornings? Couldn't they just hold them outside till regular opening time on those days? Yes they'll miss the opening show but that's just one more thing to be a benefit for paying on site prices, no?

I have never been to morning EMH at MK even when staying onsite. Is there only one Welcome Show just prior the EMH opening time for onsite guests or two shows on EMH mornings? If this is only one show for on-site guests, then shouldn't there be no Welcome Show for off-site guests? I may take advantage of morning EMH this summer. I am quite confused with the logistics.

the show is currently scheduled every day at 8:55am, no show before the EMH

I'll  with you. I have the "Welcome, welcome, welcome" song downloaded in my car. I usually don't listen to it when I start thinking about a trip so it will be fresh when I get there, but I may have to listen to it now because I won't get there by the 9th (I was thinking about a Jan/Feb trip though). This new show better be AMAZING and give me all the feelings the current one does.

Where did you download the song from?

There is a medley version on the old Four Parks One World CD, which is combined with a few other Main Street songs, but I also got a nice source audio from YouTube that has the full show, but only the pre-recorded parts (no speech from the Mayor, but it has all the "crowd voices" like "Hi there, good to see ya!" and the Mickey Voice and countdown). I used an MP3 converter to do that (and lots of other park music too).

So..... They don't have a Welcome Show for EMH? I haven't taken advantage of the EMH in a really long time because we usually avoid them. But this time I was going to go for EMH simply because the day I want to visit MK just happen to have EMH. But the Welcome Show is a must for me! So not sure if I need to change my plans.

Woah, didn't realize it was rolling out so soon. Looking foward to seeing it during my short January trip! Wish I would've known the old show was ending, though. Would've squeezed it in one last time on my Dec. trip.

Wouldn't it kinda be like HS, then? They usually let people stand in the main streetish area ahead of time, except they don't have a welcome show of course.

Entertainment schedules are usually out only 3 weeks in advance, so as of now the welcome show schedule is out until Jan 28, every day at 8:55am and on the 28th at 7:55am because the park opens at 8am that day

What about visibility and intimacy? Some things I liked about the old show is that they were up so high you never had trouble seeing them, and everything was all close together. Now I'm 12 deep trying to see the castle stage....maybe I can see kind of okay but everything is all big and spread out and it just feels less....homey and folksy. But I'll keep my fingers crossed.

And aren't the majority of people not going to show up early to take time to shop and stroll main street but to cram right up to the rope?

Agree..... I think that's why I heard it was being "tested" and may go through many versions!
I think having at the castle is a mistake! But until the train station is done with the renovations, we won't know for sure if it's staying at the castle.

Where did you see it was a test? I have only read that the current show is being retired and the show is being moved to the Castle, not temporary but permanent. At least as permanent as anything is at Disney since everything is subject to change if they see fit to change it

I really don't mean this to sound snarky, but why is a Welcome Show that no one knows what it's going to be yet a MUST for you? From what has been reported, the new Welcome Show will not be anything like the old one. Or perhaps you are going in the next few days before the new one comes online?

Some people just like to do the new things and they are must do's just because they are new

I like this new idea. Yes, I'll miss the Welcome show at the train station but we are there for the rides. We'll save a few valuable minutes from having to power walk up Main Street just to get to Peter Pan quickly. Now we'll be steps away. We won't be one of the families wandering around the stores, we'll be right by the rope to Fantasyland. And all my kids are teenagers:) Have to start at Peter Pan!!!

So if the show starts at 8:55 a.m. I wonder if a pre-opening ADR at just BOG is still worth it to get on 7D or PP. Should get to those rides well before 8:55. Guess we will find out soon. The old show is listed to start at 8:40 a.m. today.

I guess I should have said the old version of the Welcome Show has always been a must for us! It's always had a true nostalgic Disney feel to it!!! :mickeyjum:goofy::donald:

I have read on several different sites and news media that it was a test and could only be temporary at the castle since they had to move it because of the train rehab. But like anything else..... who knows??!! :confused3:confused3
