New incentives?

150 points at RIV is $750 less than when I bought in April. For my next trick I'm going to blank this out of my memory 🪄
Did you close already? We bought in March but asked to spread out our payments over 90 days. My guide just called me to say he could apply the new incentive pricing to our contract since it hasn’t closed yet. We saved $600.

The discounts offered to current DVC members -- does it matter if you bought direct or resale for your contract? We are in the process of buying a resale Poly contract but want to add more points down the road, so if we could get discounts on future points direct, that'd be awesome.

It doesn’t matter how you become a member. Once the contract is added and you are given a member number, add ons are all the same.

Once DVC creates your membership account, you can get the current member discount. It doesn’t matter if it is a resale contract or not.

That's awesome. Unfortunately, I paid in one foul swoop and closed. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

A deal is a deal, I have the same luck timing the stock market.

If you go once a year, you should always be using AP's.

Then you only have to buy tickets once every 2 years.
Depends on how long each trip is. Last time I calculated it, our break even point for APs would be 13 or 14 park days. since our normal trip is 5-7 park days, I've never seen a big savings (if any) in buying APs. Definitely not enough to be locked into certain trip timeframes to take advantage of it.

I assume that's based on the more expensive version of the AP, and not the DVC / Florida Resident one?

The DVC / Florida Resident annual passes they were selling last year were $899.

If you booked 2 different trips during a year, it would be almost impossible to spend less than $899 on park tickets. Even two 4-day park hoppers would put you above that mark.

Plus you get all the extra perks of having an AP.

Now if you had to buy the more expensive version of the AP, you would be much more likely to come out ahead with just the regular park tickets, depending on your length of stay. It would be more comparable to two 6-day park hopper tickets.

I am a white card holder so full rack price is my only option for AP's. So I agree with BamaGuy

Original DVC owners got free admission to the parks for several years (albeit for only half villa occupancy,) late 90’s - early 00’s DVC owners got 10% off length of stay passes - but there were downsides, DVC AP discounts weren’t offered until 2005.
When I first started seriously researching purchasing DVC a decade ago, I assumed based on DVC’s history that discounts on park entry could & likely would change & could disappear completely, so that wasn’t a factor in my decision to purchase.
The only major change that surprised me after I bought was the resale restrictions - I did not see that coming.
DVC is a way to reduce the cost to stay in accommodations on Disney property, other costs like park tickets, airfare, dinning, etc. will continue to increase, historically outpacing inflation, so by owning DVC I’ve reduced the rate of the increase in the cost to stay on property which is but one component of the total cost of my visits.

Over the years I've always had something come up that hindered me from buying DVC. This is my third go around and frankly the Riviera deal seems right place right time, plus it works with my family's budget. The plan was to buy on our August trip but no guarantee the incentive will be as good. 225pts here we come!

If you want to give a little extra time to pay, ask if you can delay the payments over time. We got 90 days. They just billed us the last amount this week..we bought in March.

We used the Disney Visas we have to put it all on those so I don’t actually need to pay it all until December!

Just a suggestion - ask your guide if you can break it up into 3-75 points contracts. You would have to pay extra closing costs, but it is worth it later on if you want to resell. Smaller point contracts go for higher dollars than larger contracts. You can do that.

New owners must keep at least one contract at 150. They can not break smaller unless they are already members.

How does this work as far as timing for receiving your points? Do you get the points when you go under contract or when it closes after final payment? Thanks.

Still get them right away. I had my points later the same day!

It’s the best if all worlds!!!

Did you get your points in March or do you have to wait until closing? Thanks.
