New impatiens for sun

I'd read about SunPatiens in a gardening magazine and was able to snag one at Home Depot to test out in our Florida sun.

I put it in a 12" diameter pot and it's become a monster in six weeks! The color does fade just before the petals drop (I left some on for the picture), but otherwise I'm very happy with it. You northern gardeners might still be able to find some.

Those are new guinea impatiens and they do love the sun! LOL

That thing will look like a bush in no time. I love that variety!

This is supposed to be a cross between New Guinea and a wild Japanese impatiens - do New Guinea's hold up well in full sun and humidity?

I love impatiens and always grew the "normal" shade impatiens in Michigan, but I have no shade here in FL (yet - just planted a magnolia tree).

New Guineas hold up very well in hot sun and humidity. I love this variety, I find them very vibrant and they are an impressive looking plant.

Thank you for sharing! I will have to keep an eye out for these. I love impatiens. Yesterday, I had do an emergency soak and fan to my impatiens becuase the had made them wilt. (They are in the shade-just for a few hours the popped though the trees)

I have three different varieties of those-white with a dark pink center, a light purple, and light pink color. I have mines in the shade next to the marigolds, and they grow fast. I seem to be always cutting back some branches every other week or so.
