So if you book and you don't know your hotel for sure, when do you find out which hotel you got? 30 days out or what?

DS is home from school today (he busted his leg last week and has to stay off of it until his orthopedic appt tomorrow) and DD is off pre-school today (it's also her birthday :goodvibes princess: ) so they're camped out on the couch watching movies while I keep obsessing over my F5 button! :rotfl:

I have to leave here at 5:30ish to pick up DH @ the train station and take DD out for her birthday dinner (she picked Olive Garden!) Please let it happen before then!

They must be reading these boards,, as soon as we mentioned many pops, thats what happened.

I dont think that is coincidence.

Side note my son is videotaping me being spastic on the computer -- he thinks its funny I am still in my pjs and am trying to get this hotel deal... i hope it does not end up on utube!

SO i still have my "15 minutes" of fame today? Thanks-- I wish I didn't have to go out.

dbelmo

I'm never going to like the sound of popcorn popping ever again :rotfl:

I feel good about 4:00!! hahahahahahahahahahahah

Is that a knock on the door? It's some men in white coats....they're coming to take me away haha hehe! :lmao: I'm SO TIRED!!

UUGGHHHHHH......I am gettting so frustrated!!!!!!! There is no reason they couldn't have done at least one so far today. I've waited 15 1/2 hrs. so far and I am getting VERY GRUMPY!!!

I second it. I have also been on for over 15 1/2 hours and have to leave for work in less than an hour..Iam so tired.

:faint:

I'm one the desktop and my daughter is on the laptop. We're both refreshing, but not at the same time. So she yells at me "GO!!!!!!" and I get all excited, thinking ""It's time! It's time!"

Was she basing it on refreshing, like I thought? No, just the last series of pops (I had told her to ignore one--there would be many. So she thought it must be real).

That's OK-I'm sure the heart atack I had when she yelled "Go" was real, too.

I'm super excited about trying to get a Disney hotel with this promo, but everyday/night I've given up before the actual clock started ticking, I am sticking with it today I swear!

I'm ordering pizza. Ironically we also had pizza last night but it was homemade :rolleyes1

This is just awful! We've been on here forever!!! Why are we putting ourselves through this? I don't have the sense to just walk away!!! So, when I have to at 5, that's probably when they'll do it. I'll get home and be excited for you all when I read where you get to go!!! Please let them do it before 5!!!!!

This just posted over at SD:

I agree. Since the terms and conditions changed late last week, I think people should be aware of the possible taxes. Flyertalk and budget travel are both posting messages from the legal team at LMT:
(I don't know if I am allowed to post the link, but here are the details)

"Received this confirmation from Last Minute Travel’s legal team, below! Hope this helps:
Fees: When you successfully book during The World for $1 sale, you will receive a hotel stay per your specifications as found on the confirmation voucher. This does not include any fees incurred at the hotel or during your vacation (example: resort fees, phone charges, transportation, etc.).
Taxes: The value of hotel rooms purchased during the World for $1 sale may be taxable as income. Individuals are solely responsible for the payment of all federal, state and local income or excise taxes on prize. Depending on the value of the rooms, you may be required to provide a social security number for 1099/income tax filing purposes. If required, Last Minute Travel will send you the appropriate documentation for tax filing. You are not responsible for hotel taxes.

Like I said, for those already going it is still a great deal, but for those that are thinking they are getting a $5000.00 hotel for a week for nothing, they should be aware of the possible taxes at 10% or 15%.

For those that keep insisting there are no taxes, how do you know that? Where is your backup?

If they do it this way--then they are saying that it might be considered like winning a prize in a contest or lottery....and at the end of the year they would produce a 1099-G that you would have to report on your taxes as income."

Here's my issue: the "value" of a hotel is arbitrary--they fluctuate. If they are advertised for $1 then THAT is the value of the hotel. It's the old "Peppercorn" theory of a contract. This is being advertised as a sale of hotel rooms for $1 a night, NOT a prize, lottery or sweepstakes.

Any accountants/tax prep folks here?

I don't have the chatroom. I can't imagine what you're all going through with all the popping!

you can book IF you do it from another computer, use another card, with a DIFFERENT name and address...I booked ours in my MIL name and will be trying it again later this week under our name, but will use my sons laptop, otherwise it IS written in their rules, they can cancel ALL reservations you have :confused3

Okay, I know I got in on this deal so I'm good.

I'm TRYING to figure out is DH can do it too. I've read the fine print and the rules so many times, it seems that he CAN try for a room. It says individuals and it says you can't try to win it again YOURSELF.

It also doesn't say it is a contest and it doesn't have contest rules, so I'm also going to assume it doesn't mean we have to pay income taxes on the price of the room, but we do have to pay room and lodging tax.

Think about it, Every other "contest" I enter, it lists a huge list of rules and has a second-chance drawing and an address to send to for a list of winners. This doesn't have all of that any place.

And I bet it will go off today at 2:24 pm Pacific Coast time.
