New Hospitality House catagory

I have stayed in 13, 23, 24 & 25 in the past. For each of these stays we requested to be near the HH, thinking something in 11-14 would be what we'd get. But as you can see, we only got that one time. I liked the 23-26 area, and felt it was a close walk to the pool and the HH. However once we were in 27 and it wasn't that much further to the HH than 26 was, so I'm surprised they didn't include it in the new category, too.

The point Diane makes is the one I was trying to make...that by lumping 11-14 & 23-26 in the same bookable View Category, it will still be a crapshoot if someone really wants to be in 23-26. I suppose that they will need to accept requests within the view category, as they do elsewhere and hopefully that will make the situation better.

I'm just thinking that most people who ask for "near HH" really would like 11-14 or 16 and the 60's buildings. Just seems like a weird lumping together of villas to me.

It likely will not make 23-26 more difficult but actually easier. I would suspect getting HH category and requesting 23-26 would give one a MUCH higher chance of success than buildings 11-14. I would agree they could have, and likely should have, included some of those units like 15, 16 and the 60's. I can see holding the 60's out if they're steering those that have access issues that way but I think we've seen enough post on this board to be confident those requests aren't filling those buildings up. I wouldn't be surprised to see some adjustment of this grouping down the line or even very soon, we shall see.

Agreed, and essentially what i was trying to say. This suggests they'll likely do a similar thing for SSR and they should. Owners at a given resort should have preference, period.

With this I've always agreed 100%. Sounds like Disney is moving that way slowly but surely for each of the WDW resorts. I guess it depends on how much squawking the CM's have to put up with during check in at each of the resorts.

Now that I've thought it through a bit better, I agree that this should make booking 23-26 easier since I'll bet that most people who ask for "near HH" would be thrilled to get buildings 11-14. This should be a good development for OKW owners.

I have always requested to be near HH and seem to end up as far away from it as you can get.....except, for the one time I DIDNT request in and got it.
What can I say? sometimes its just a wacky world.

I just booked a week for August 2008 and had two of the member services CMs tell me this is not a booking category as yet, rather it is still just a preference. The last one I spoke to suggested I keep an eye on the Member Updates for when it does come into effect and call back then. In response to the question I had as to whether persons with this noted as a preference would automatically be slotted into this category as it came avaialble, the CM didn't know if there would be a conversion and the safer course was to call back.

Just thought others may want to know...

that strange. one of my friends was just there - a very nice lady with a small child. request near HH and they got building 23.

which was perfect for them.

building 11 thru 14 don't know about small children in these building - right across from the HH parking lot. too much chance of an accident. (my opinion)

especially with the way some people drive there (and not all dvc members or guest).

Our recent Nov. 11 - 18 trip was booked 11 months out and we requested near HH for the GV. When the new category was first announced the GV confirmation was changed to say "GV near HH." We tried to do the same with the 2 bedroom, but it was booked at 7 months and the bookings were apparently changed on a first come/first served priority. The GV ended up in bldg. 25 (great location) and the 2 bedroom in bldg 27, a little further away but not bad.

I think maybe you got a CM that isn't up to speed. Our week in January which was requested close to HH, was automatically converted to confirmed near HH. I would phone back and talk to someone else. It should be a confirmed category for your trip time.

That's the story I had from 2 different CMs . Well, I guess I can call again and see what is what.

Perhaps the confusion lies in the fact that although HH is a separate booking category, it is not a higher number of points to book. At least not yet

It is definitely a separate booking category however, and available only to members on points, not cash.

We were at OKW Nov. 11-17 and had originally requested buildings 11-14. We checked in fairly early that AM and had a great CM. When she asked where we wanted to be located (even tho it was listed on the reservation), I told her our preference was 11-14. She sorta looked at me out of the corner of her eye, laughed and said "yeah, you and about a couple of hundred others..". She said that all of those were occupied but offered up building 23 - 2 br. 3rd floor. We took it and after we saw it we were thrilled with the location! Great view, quiet and an easy walk to HH and the bus stop. I much prefer it over our original request and even tho those stairs looked a little daunting at the end of a long day in the parks, it was well worth the climb. I think I even manage to loose a few pounds because of them (or at least not gain any!).

Maybe they can't actually book it yet, but can only convert requests?

They are converting requests, so it must be in the system somehow. I guess all you can do is what you have--ensure it as a request. At some point, they should convert it to a confirmed location.

(I have less and less faith in the Disney computer system as I read about what they can and cannot do)

We requested that for both of our previous stays and haven't had a problem getting what we wanted (buildings 63 main floor, and 14 third floor).

So when it becomes available, will they automatically add it to the reservations of those who have a HH request?????

I'm requesting 1st floor or elevator anyway because my DD needs a wheelchair a lot of the time and sometimes has a difficult time climbing stairs on a bad seizure day.
