NEW Harambe Nights event Summer 2014 Animal Kingdom

Ok, we had totally decided not to do this, but then I read this thread and now I'm debating.... My concern is that our family will be 4 adults and we don't drink, so we're paying a little over $500 for a tapas dinner and a show. I'm debating the value. I've read some of the previous posts and I do see your points... Hmm....

Is the $119/ticket price JUST for the event, or is that park admission+the ticket event? I'm assuming that's just the ticket event, which is a bit much for me, but to each their own, right?

Much like events at MK, it includes park admission but only after 4:00, or 7:00 PM. Which time is still up in the air I think. If it's like MK exactly it will be after 4:00 but until someone confirms it and actually enters at 4:00 I'm not sure we'll know for certain.

The parking is free starting at 4:00 and I can't imagine they'd want people to show up at 4:00 to park only to stand around in the parking lot till 7:00. So I hope it's 4:00 like MK

I would compare it more to buying tickets for a broadway show or concert. I paid way more than this for Justin Timberlake and didn't get any food or drinks. But of course I did get to drool. :lmao:

I wish this was running a few more weeks! We're going at the end of August - what a bummer!

This is why I don't get why people are complaining. A JT concert is what, 2 hours? If that? Then you pay overpriced prices for your food and watered down drinks on top of that. Well over $119 for a decent seat.

This, you're getting a show, food, drinks, all included, at a 4 hour event. Seems like a no brainer for me, but oh well.

If you're comparing events, Disney comes out way ahead as far as dollar paid vs entertainment received.

I just wish it were the show only at a lower price. I don't drink, I don't want the food....but then I guess maybe they wouldn't feel justified charging too much for a 50 minute show....I really wanted it to work this trip and I can't get excited for it....But always good to think it over to make sure and that is why this board is so helpful!

I agree! And I really hope I do not see any more complaining about the cost on this thread. Keep it positive, people! :) Don't rain on other peoples parades.
Harambe nights looks like such a fun night!

It would be so great if Rivers of Light was previewed at the end of the night. It was hinted in the passholder email sent out Wednesday.
Anyone hear if it will coincide with Harambe Nights??? That would put this event OVER THE TOP!!!

I pulled the plug. LOL

Yay!!!! So excited now. July 5th, Premium Seating... It's only $15 more!! LOL

This is disboards. You should know by now to bring an umbrella!;):goodvibes
But I agree, it is nice to hear the polite cons of an event but better to post on the positives.

we booked it on a couple days ago!
We are going June 14, can not wait :)

This looks very fun. As an AK and AKL lover, this is a must for me. I wonder if they will extend the dates further into August? If not, I may have to change my dates to be able to go :hippie:

I wondered that too because it does say (in the WDW Magic article) that there will be a spectacular ending to the night or something like that!

regular seating at 119.00 or premium at 134.00? what is the difference in viewing?princess:

nvm just read on another thread
Notes on pricing: There are two different prices; the premium seats are considered better seating for the show only. There are about 150 of the 1000 seats that are considered premium while the rest are considered general seating. There are no other benefits other than better seats for the show

Makes sense, thank you! Sounds like the perfect thing to do on a non-park day, while still enjoying a little park action. :)

Well, if you really want to nit-pick… it's an okay cost for an event.

I paid $125 for 30STM, AFI, and Linkin Park this summer. And that was for a good seat.

I'm seeing Panic! at the Disco right before them, about a week ahead. That ticket was $50. And that'll easily be a 2-3 hour event once you add in the opener(s).

So the price is okay. Not great, not bad! Just okay. In Disney-terms, it's actually good/great, given how they normally inflate everything in their parks (we all know we can get the really good plushies at the DisneyStore for a few dollars less than the weird looking ones they sell in the parks… don't even get me started on the princess dolls…smh) but it's in the eye of the buyer. I think CRT is a great value for breakfast, while others say I'm outright insane to pay $58 for breakfast just because it's in a castle in Disney and I get to meet some over-glorified princesses.

I think $119 compared to $125 is comparable. PLUS, food and drinks are included. That puts it over the top. Most events like you're talking about don't include food and drinks.

What would really be cool is if they had gotten the original actors of the movie to narrate! Could you imagine James Earl Jones or Jeremy Irons narrating this whole show? Now THAT would be awesome!
