NEW Harambe Nights event Summer 2014 Animal Kingdom

Booked Premium seats for July 19th!! We are definitely "meant" to go to this. I knew we only had one Saturday at Disney this summer, and I figured that going to this would really mess with some other ADR or something else that I had already planned. When I looked at my tentative schedule, we were already going to be at AK that day and did not have ADR's! Add to the fact that we are staying at AKL, this was perfect with our "theme" this trip! We are really looking forward to it!:cool1:

Definitely sounds like you were meant to attend! We are also booked with Premium seats on July 19th - we had to rework our plans a bit but everything moved around quite easily! See you there!!! :thumbsup2

I know this hasn't transpired yet, but I am hoping someone had asked the CM when they booked. Is there transportation available for the event?

We booked ours and I didn't think to ask this, I re-read it and nothing was noted other then parking. Hoping there is because we would rather use transportation then drive and park especially since we can drink. :)

If not I guess I am calling and waiting on hold, TYIA.

Oh, I'm sure there will be. There's always transportation to/from MNSSHP and MVMCP. I hope so anyway...we won't have a car!

Of course there will be. Thousands of Disney's guests have no car to drive, even if they wanted to. Disney knows that. They will not exclude those guest from attending by not providing any type of transportation.

I'm a little upset:sad:We won't be able to do it due to the time of our trip. I think this is amazing. Why won't they extend it? Folks you go later in the year would want to experience this event. I really hope its successful so they'll want to continue to have it and maybe extend the dates. I'm being optimistic!!!

It would be very nice to have it become a part of the night events planned at AK. Maybe this is a trail to see how it goes?

If anything I think it will be exclusive to this specific time of year. Similar to Christmas and Halloween. Every year about this time there might be a Harambe nights thing. It will be MuCh harder to do once the park is open later because I think Harambe nights is going to take up pretty much all of the Africa area and Disney can't close that section if the park to the rest if huge guests in huge park.

This sounds fantastic and would be the perfect start to our trip.....We fly in on Saturday 7-28 at 10 am and didn't plan on doing any parks-just hang at POR. Buuuuut....almost $600 is a bitter pill to swallow. I think I'll wait for the reviews to come out before I pull the trigger!

We really want to go, but I am so worried that my DS3 and DD1 will not be able to sit through a 55 minute performance. DS3 sat through the Spirit of Aloha dinner last year, but refused to sit through Nemo. Does anyone else have any opinions on taking toddlers???? Thanks in advance!:confused3

We are bringing our 3.5 year old daughter - she was able to sit through a Broadway show-length of Beauty and the Beast a month ago so I don't think that she'll have any trouble. She was fascinated by FOLK last summer (2.5 years then) and it completely held her attention! That's partly the reason we took her to see B&theB when it came to our theater last month. We try to run her around little bit before the performance so we'll do the same with this show. I think that there will be so much music and dancing that your children will love it! But that's just my own opinion. :thumbsup2

Have you ever been to Candlelight Processional? The narrator speaks, at times, at length and all audience members are quiet at that time as it's the narrator who provides the storyline. I don't see that there are dancers involved in this show... it isn't Festival of the Lion King - it will be more focused on the narration, soloists, and storytelling. If you think your kids may be bored by that, 55 minutes is a long time.

From the CM information:
Guests who like Candlelight or signature Food and Wine experiences are good examples of the target audience.

While it may not be the traditional FOTLK show I don't think it's devoid of dancers or action either. At least I don't interpret it like that. I guess no one knows for sure just yet. But based on this

The highlight of Harambe Nights is a theatrical show called “The Lion King Concert in the Wild.” Taking place in Disney Animal Kingdom’s (DAK’s) new Harambe Theatre, the 55-minute production that combines Disney storytelling, excerpts from the Disney animated film, and theatrics. The show features celebrity narrators, a live orchestra and choir dancers and special effects.

description, I think there will be plenty of action. We aren't hesitating in taking DGD. While she's older than 1 and 3 we would have still taken her at that age.

We never made it to FOTLK on last years trip because of my DS lack of patience at that time. I really wish we would have a least given it a try, but oh well.

I am thinking that with full stomachs and the later hour they would probably sit back and enjoy the show. Then with the dance party afterward they can release any leftover energy for the night! My kids do love to dance so I know they would love that part!!

Public service announcement - premium seats already sold out for 6/7! I bought tickets for 7/5 and was a little surprised to see them going so fast. :scared1:

As a regular dis-goer with no kids yet, I have sat next to kids who were fascinated and next to kids who would not stop whining or talking. While it's amazing sitting next to a child who is in awe of everything, it's awful sitting next to a child who clearly wants to leave and is making everyone around them unhappy that they spent the money on tickets. (I am thinking of the child I sat next to at the Candlelight Processional this year who made my family wish we had not splurged on the Candlelight dining package. We honestly would have enjoyed it more standing in the back away from the incredibly unhappy child.)

That being said, I'm sure you know your children and what will work for them. If you think they'd love sitting through an orchestra concert and narrator with vibrantly colored dancers, maybe they would. If not, Disney offers in-room babysitting services by people who have been background checked and who plan activities and games for the children they are babysitting. They do charge a $10 transportation fee, $18.50 per hour for two children, and $2 per hour extra after 9:00. If you wanted to have an adults-night-out from 6:00-11:00, It would cost you around $110 for babysitting, but that's still cheaper than buying your kids tickets if you weren't sure they'd enjoy the show. I sat by someone on the way to Disney one year who said their kids looked forward to one babysitting night because they had so much fun.

:cool1: Received our Harambe Nights tickets in the mail today!!!!:):):)

:dance3: We are SO EXCITED!!!

Can't Wait!!:hourglass
