I have no idea why, but I was surprised to see this schedule change after 15 years. It is posted at GayDay.com Changes are in bold.

Thurs., June 2 - Disney/MGM Studios Traditional - AK
Friday, June 3 - EPCOT-Traditional Disney MGM Studios
Saturday, June 4 - Islands of Adventure Traditional MK
Sunday, June 5 - Magic Kingdom Traditional EPCOT
Monday, June 6 = Animal Kingdom Traditional Seaworld or Universal Orlando

Thanks for posting. Do you think they realized that the days they plan for MK and AK are also the early entry days for resort guest. Sounds like the parks folks might want to avoid because of double crowds.

Until last year, when the EE days were re-done, the traditonal days were also ee Days, so that may have something to do with it. I also think that Universal probably wanted a slice of the $$$ that a large group would bring in.

It just seems that, traditionally, the Sundays after GayDay at MK were so busy that there may be huge crowds at MK on Sunday with the rescheduled event. I really liked the MK on Saturdays, it will seem weird being there on Sunday.

Hey Chuck
I have the availability to go to WDW either June 1-5 or June 8-12. How much more crowed are Gay days? I'm sure my partner and I would love to go during that time but I would skip it if it is substantially more crowded.
Thanks
Jean

Jean,

Since school is still in session in some parts of the country, the crowds at the GayDay parks hasn't, historically, been too bad. Busy, but not packed. The exception was always MK on Saturday...it was always very, very busy. I don't know what impact the new schedule will have, as Sunday was also normally a very busy day ay MK. Personally, I'm not going to IOA, it just isn't my style of park...and I think a lot of the crowds will stick to MK on Saturday.

Mom is in a wheelchair, and we've always found the GayDay park crowds quite managable, but we always make Priority Seatings for dining on those days, as the full service restaurants can be quite busy.

It's hard to predict what the crowds will be with this change.

Are you sure the schedule has changed? I went to the gaydays.com website and clicked on calendar. The schedule looks the same as before. Am I confused? I just want to make sure so I can plan my schedule accordingly.

This is the page for the schedule http://www.gaydays.com/calendar/

ndmommy, there are two different websites, and they are competitors. The original GayDay at Disney was set up by the owner of www.gayday.com (no S) where the new schedule is posted, the promoters-travel people-party planners at www.gaydays.com are sticking to the traditional schedule (so far).

Which means there will be basically two competing gay days - kind of weird and confusing.

Wow...thanks. I had researched for our trip and had planned our days avoiding crowds on the old schedule. I'll start over now. Thank you very much for the info and also for making me feel better about the crowd levels at that time!!! Ok...just saw the last post. Does this mean I need to re-work avoiding TWO parks each day now for better crowd levels? Hmmm

dizagain, really the only crowd advice I'd probably schedule around (since no one knows what impact what this will have) is to maybe avoid MK on both Saturday and Sunday. Even following the traditional schedule, the designated GayDay parks were not overly crowded on weekdays. And EPCOT on Sunday was busy, but not packed..actually enjoyable. Just like Las Vegas, a lot of weekend visitors fly home on Sunday to go to work on Monday.

But, the Sunday after a Saturday GayDay at MK seemed almost busier than the Saturday. Mom & I went both days to MK a couple of years ago, and wound up leaving MK and heading to EPCOT on Sunday because the crowd was awful.

Thanks for posting the update.

No where near our Cub Scout Pack visit.

Good thing.

Your cub scout pack probably has more to worry about from heterosexual scoutmasters than it does from homosexuals at WDW.

And we have a winner! The tackiest post of the week! What does this have to do with anything. (Trust me I don't like the Boy Scouts but this is just bad taste!)

Bob, I realize you were talking about avoiding crowds, but some folks get really upset if you say you want to miss the gay days events. Don't let it bug you. Our kids are still in school then so we will not be there regardless. BTW, my son loves being a cub scout:)....Lacee

Why can you people not understand or accept that some posters on this board do not agree that homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle and don't want to expose there kids to it.

Geez!

Ya know, I tried to be nice and post schedule changes because I know how some people plan every little minute of their trips. The post had nothing to do with acceptance or non-acceptance until some folks just couldn't comprehend that it was posted for the scheduling information it contains, but decided to make it into an "Us vs Them" type thing. How sad.

I'm PMing a mod and requesting it be closed, and don't worry, I'll not offer ANY scheduling changes or suggestions for crowds...y'all are on your own, do your OWN research...but don't come back and post in your trip reports how an event like this "ruined" your vacation...the scheduling info was offered for all to take or leave...not comment on lifestyle. :(

Geez!

Why can you people not understand that to some posters on this board hate, intolerance, and narrow mindedness are not acceptable lifestyles and that a lot of us don't want to expose our kids to that.

i have attended wdw during the gay day events and thought it was great.......

the first time i went with my boys who were then 7, 9, 10 thought everyone was soooooooo nice. they loved it.

my kids when they were older teens thought nothing of gay day except that it was the best time to attend. many people talked to us and it wasn't anything different than any other day there at disney.

disney is disney, people are people.................we all go to have fun.
i didn't have much of a problem with any additional crowds in early june.

if there is any day or time period that i do avoid it is when the cheerleading and young athletes are there.......................crowded at the resorts and loud, crowded at the parks...........

please, no flaming, just giving my opinion based on being there.

I couldn't agree more! I don't have any kids, but I don't want to be exposed to it either.
