New free dining offer yeaaah

pixiedaisy,You should be able to,we've done it twice before;some people say you can only add it if there is availability(rooms dedicated to the promotion)at your resort;or you may have to change resorts if there are no"promo"rooms left at your current resort.

Yay!!!! :cool1: Good for you Don Disney!! Hope you have a great time. Looks like some people are starting to get some fall magic! :wizard:

I called yesterday and a few nice posters said I was "anal" etc. :lmao:

Here's hoping the GP code works for the rest of us on the 3rd! :jumping1:
Thanks Vidia2;I was really excited to share the news, and YOU are the FIRST poster to acknowledge my fantastic news-I really appreciate it! :thumbsup2Did'nt realize there were so many"haters" here on the DIS;I am always happy to post a congrats to anyone who shares their good news, but am quite dissapointed that so many posters just brushed my excitement aside,as if it was the plague-thanks folks.:rolleyes: Vidia2-may the pixie dust find it's way to you and yours also!!!:wizard:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

It's hard for anyone to give you a straight answer on this because we have no idea how many rooms will be available and/or how many people know about this offer and will be lining up to reserve their spot on Wednesday morning. Is it worth the hour? I've seen people call weeks after the offer comes out and still get the discount applied, I have also seen people call and get through within the first 20 minutes to be told their resort is sold out of FD rooms. Your guess is as good as ours:confused3

That's pretty much what I expected. Just hoping someone might have some experience with how quickly discounted/fd rooms have filled up in the past at that time of year and/or at that resort. My guess is that they have little trouble filling Poly at any time of year, although I was also thinking that WL and GF might be more popular during the holidays because of their spectacular Christmas decorations.

If the discount comes through, I'm leaning toward making a second reservation and canceling the first if I can do it on line before phones open.

Well after I thought about it a bit, I realized that I could make a new ressie at 6:00 and then wait until 7:00 and try to have the promo added to the ressie I have right now by phone. If that goes through then I can just cancel the new one I made online and I won't have to worry with a new ressie # and all that stuff. I'll only have to get refunded for the $200 that I paid online at 6:00. That way, at least I will be covered. I hope that made sense b/c I'm starting to confuse myself!

Believe it or not, I called about this issue on Firday (in case I decided on a split stay). Let me just say: most CMs are not aware of this package. The CM at central reservations said "No, call the hotel". POR CM said "No" and then I quoted her what Cheshire Figment said word for word. She transferred me to someone else. The someone else said "No". Again, I related the policy word for word. She put me on hold; all of the sudden she comes back on, apologize profusely for not giving me the correct information and states that park tickets on packages are allowed to be picked up early from Guest Relations at DTD or the parks up to 10 days in advance of checking in for the package.

So, there's my tale.....

So, has anyone actually done this MORE than 3 days prior? Our trip dates would mean we'd need to pick up our tickets 4 days before free dining would begin. I'm just afraid we'd be standing at the gate on Day T minus 4 and be told, "nope, not til tomorrow." and miss a whole day. Cheshire Figment's sticky does not give any number of days - not the 10 days prior quoted above or 3 days as I've seen mentioned so frequently. (Edit - Cheshire's info DOES say 3 days. I just re-read it.)

Also, we've currently got a room only discount for 9/27-10/1, though we're staying through 10/5. Is there a way to set this all up so we can keep the room only discount for the first part? Booking two different reservations, one in the other spouse's name, for example?

Regards,
C.

You can pick up the tickets no more than 3 days prior to check-in. I don't know where that CM got 10 days prior:confused:

I'm not quite sure what you mean by two different reservations - do you mean one reservation for 9/17-10/1 under a room discount and 10/2-10/5 under free dining? If that is what you mean then you can definitely do it and you can use the same persons name but you will need to add the night of 10/1 under the resort discount reservation (free dining won't start until 10/2) or you will be sleeping outside;)

I don't think there are any "haters" on this board, I just think that people are trying to keep up with all the posts and questions - it's a bit overwhelming at the pace that this thread is moving. Plus everyone is really excited for Wednesday.Sorry if you felt overlooked.:flower3:
Congratulations on your PIN!!!! Have a great vacation and may the pixie dust stay with you throughout your time at the WORLD!!:tink:pixiedust:

Hmmm. Ok, well, then I guess we can't do FD at all then. "Missed it by that much." (Edit - I just re-read Cheshire's info, and it DOES say 3 days prior.)

(I meant we had a room only for the NIGHTS of 9/27-10/1. I should have been more clear. No sleeping on the sidewalk for us, but thanks for pointing it out, just in case. :)

You can book 9/27-10/2 (9/27-10/1 will get a room discount and 10/2 will be rack rate), then book another reservation at the same resort from 10/2-10/5 under free dining and tell the CM when you arrive on 9/27 that you have two reservations back-to-back that you want linked and you would prefer to stay in the same room.
The only problem I forsee is that you will need to buy two sets of tickets and you wold be paying for you dining for the 9/27-10/1 stay.
Hope thie helps:goodvibes

We are about to book our trip. I would like to book today and get everything squared away, but if free dining comes out later this week, I would love to change to free dining! If the rumors are true, I will be happy to call in for free dining with the FCY code on Wednesday. In order for that to work, should I book my meal plan now and pay for it, or should I just book the room without a meal plan? Also, any idea how many FD rooms are set aside at POFQ? Thanks!
: )

I finally read the whole thread. I was pretty sure this would happen, but it's still very exciting. It covers our dates (10/2-10/6):dance3: and we don't need to buy that darned memories book. Without the book we def. get a larger (though not much) savings over our current 30% room discount at Pop.

Here's my question, I have a room-only reservation right now. I was going to buy our tix through DU if free dining didn't come along. Should I call and upgrade to a package before 8/3 so that on the 3rd it's easier to apply the FD code? Would doing that in any way make it more likely that we'd get one of the FD rooms at Pop?

Any stats on how many FD rooms are at each resort? Pop is way bigger than POFQ for ex. so I wonder if I have a better chance of getting FD at Pop than I would at a smaller resort :confused3

We booked our trip in March for Oct 1-8th. I understand for the promotion to work, I need to check in on the 2nd. So, I will need to call and change our ressie. I would need to make 2 ressies. One for a "room only" for Oct 1st and the package for 2nd-8th.

Will there by any issues with doing this such as change fees, etc?

Also, since I have a Disney Visa .. do I have to use it.. even though I do not want to? I thought if I had to, I could just put $200 and use the rest as cash...

Thanks for the help.:confused3

Okay, I apologize upfront since I know this has been answered. I have only read 10 pages or so of this post, and don't feel like looking through the other 30....what is the code that is expected (I know it's for free dining for October), and what dates in October are blacked out?

This is the l-o-n-g-e-s-t thread that I have ever tried to read. Thanks OP for the great info!!! Good luck to all!!!! :wizard:

Thank you for posting this! I hope it's true. I booked 9/24 to 10/3 on the current free DDP offer. Problem is my DD11 gets out of school on 9/30 and would have to miss the last week of school before break. I've been waiting to talk to her teachers to see if this is possible (She's in an IB program). I also booked our flights on SW, but those I can change-hopefully get as good a rate.

I have to pay the balance on our trip by August 10th so if this is released on the 3rd that would be in time for me to cancel first trip.

DD11 is off the entire month of October so I'm sure I can get the dates to work. I think it's going to depend on, for me, the airline rates. Off to check SW website.....

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I was wondering this too, i would love to book early if the dv offer comes out but i dont want to put the whole trip on there, do you have to use it for the whole ressie or just some???

Thank you to everyone for all the great info! Im excited!!!!!!!

this might be a dumb question but....I noticed that the OP mentioned a code (FCX and FCY to be exact) but I have never noticed a spot on the website to enter codes into. Can you only get this deal by calling on the phone and giving a CM those codes, or will this be available online also?

I think it's easier to get up early and do the check-out/in at the front desk(and yes, before 8:20am is possible, though if they change your rooms you may have to bring your bags to bell services).
That said, if you do your initial check-in on the 10th at the front desk, this will give you the opportunity to tell (or remind) the CM that you have two reservations that are linked and there is greater chance that the CM can work his/her magic and make sure you stay in the same room for both reservations. As far as I know, there is nowhere on-line to request this.:flower3:

Thank you Brandi! Do you what the earliest I could go down & do our check-out/check-in? I figure we'll need to leave for our ADR at 7:50 at the latest, so thinking going down to the desk @ 7am would be good. Is there somewhere there to do it for me that early? I hope they just leave us in our room. Since it's a family suite (hopefully) hopefully they'll just leave us, with 4 kids, changing rooms may be rough! lol

Anyone know:
:grouphug:
Would I get a discount on deluxe dining if I am staying within the allotted time frame in a deluxe resort?:dance3:
