I've stayed at the Swan before. It is by far my favorite place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, clean and sophisticated. The staff members are super nice and helpful. The best part is that you can walk to Epcot. We were upgraded for free during our last stay and got a park view balcony room for the price of the basic room. I used the government rate when I went. I'm on the look out now to see if they have anything too good to pass up for January or February 2008. :thumbsup2

After reading about some posts re: thefts in the Resorts section of Dis, I decided to ask if anyone here has ever had any issues with regards to security at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel? Also, does anyone know if there wall safes are large enough for a DVD player/Laptop? If anyone has a pic, that would be great!

I've never had an issue at the S/D. Twice (on different stays) I accidentally left our safe open which had cash, prescription drugs and jewelry in it. Both times we returned (after housekeeping had been through) and nothing was ever touched!

The safes aren't that big, I'd say about 3 inches deep and about 10 inches by 10 inches--or there abouts. We can fit our camcorder and digital camera both at the same time, but I don't know about a laptop as I don't own one. Maybe a portable DVD player, but not a standard sized.

A few years ago my niece brought a friend along to the Swan. She was told to lock everything up, but she left her calling card out in plain view.

Someone used up most of the minutes on her card calling Mexico or central America.

I don't know how the issue was resolved. I know that the girl's mom called the Swan and talked to management about the theft of minutes on her card.

Does anyone know which is better:
Balcony with park view or balcony with resort view?
I would prefer a room closer to the lobby, if that has any relevance.

Your resort view "water" view rooms are closer to the elevator. The park view rooms for Epcot are in the East Wing and they are a hike from the elevator. The rooms that are closer to the elevator, are located as close to or in the main triangle of the Dolphin. These rooms offer great water and resort views!

Sorry if this question has been asked already...

I am looking form more information about the karaoke at Kimono's. Are there any days of the week that they don't have karaoke? What does it start? What time does it end?

Thanks in advance for any info!

When you all say it's a hike from the East wing to the elevators, what exactly to you mean? Main Entrance of MK to Spl.M hike? :confused3

It starts around 9:00-9:30 p.m. and goes until about midnight. We have fun each time we go! :thumbsup2 I can't remember if they are closed on any particular nights. We tend to hit it on the weekend.

I'm curious, is one better than the other? If so, why? :scratchin I'm contemplating a quick visit later this year. popcorn::

Never mind guys! I have it figured out.. I called Chase... no charges but I called the Swan and they said they wouldn't charge it until 2 days before arrival. The other charge I saw was probably an authorization check!

Scared me for a minute.. thought I would lose my good rate!

Quick question... I was gathering up my reservation info etc for my trip Sat and tried to get a copy of my cc statement showing where the Swan charged me for my room. (I had to prepay to get the $125/night rate). My reservation shows where I prepaid but I swear I cannot find the charge on my cc statement. I see the charge where I added a room at another rate though at a later date.

I charged it on my Disney visa.... maybe I got a dream granted before I even get there and it's FREE!!!! :rotfl:

Seriously though, I guess I need to call Chase to see because I don't want to be charged twice. Has anyone else run into this???

Chris, we took a cab to the Contemporary on our last stay. If I remember correctly, about 10 minutes.

So is the Contemporary next to the GF?.....Am trying to justify paying $240 dollars to take the lady's in my life to the GF for thier surprise meal at V&A and picking them up afterwards.....But if it's only round the block it hardly seems worth while does it :confused3

Just curious...if you don't mind...$240 ????????? you must be hiring a limo??? That's a lot of $$$$$!
IMHO
;)

Sorry, yes a limo i thought it would just add that little bit extra but at $240 round trip it does seem alittle over top if they don't even get chance to warm the seat before their getting back out...:rotfl2:

:surfweb: I've never been, but I hear that restaurant is lovely. I'm sure it will be a magical night with or without the limo!!! :wizard:

I think you would take the cab to the Contemporary and then ride the monorail to the GF...they are NOT next to each other by any means. It would be a short monorail ride I think.

Now that I've re-read the post though, I think Mouseteacher was just telling you that from the Dolphin to the Contemporary is 10 minutes by cab; you would want to add maybe 10 more minutes to drive directly to GF I think, or you could catch the monorail as I mentioned before. I beautiful trip by rail!

I can't imagine $240 for a 15 minute limo ride...or was that including the cost of dinner?????:confused3

:lmao: :lmao:
I wish, the food and wine bill is about $450 for the two of them while me and the twins will be having $30 total for chicken strips in one of the parks....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

A quick question:

How far time wise by car is the GF from the Dolphin please....Thanks

Chris

It should take 10-15 minutes, depending on whether or not you get lost, as I sometimes do when driving! :) Are you driving there to stay or for dinner? You do realize that you'll pay $9/day to park at the Dolphin - right?

**I see I missed a bunch of posts before answering!

By the way -this thread on the Transportation Board has me really frosted: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1546134
