Is it a standard refillable mug?

It reminds me of Starbucks travel mugs, with similiar sippy thing on top. Except it has photos of Swan and Dolphin hotel pictures on mug. Kinda pretty, makes for a great souvenir. They cost $11.99 and you can refill throughout your stay. BTW, last summer 06' we were there they served STARBUCKS COFFEE....:thumbsup2

Has anyone received any animal towels while staying at this hotel? I always read threads about them if you stay on an onsite hotel. I've never seen/gotten one here, though. We have stayed here twice, before.:confused3

We got one, here's what it looked like:

Just Had an e-mail back from Bob stating theirs a $100 a night surcharge for requesting rooms on the 7/8th floors and in his view it simply ain't worth paying that...:confused3

I guess it's all in the eyes of the beholder, but I do think the the views from the higher up floors can be spectacular. I guess it all depends on what direction you're facing.

We've had beautiful views of Epcot, Tower of Terror/MGM, and Expedition Everest, all from the 9th floor. The 8th floor (or even the 7th, depending on tree placement) would afford you the same.

I agree with Blondie, English Gent.

Our view from 8th floor balcony:

Here's the view we had back in February of 2002 from the 6th floor, room 6025 (east wing) to be exact. Coming back from the parks at night and seeing that was wonderful! All four of us rushed to walk out onto the balcony to see it!

I'm going to miss the wand and the words Epcot over Spaceship Earth something fierce! It really glittered in the darkness!

Okay, so I am a bit slow. Originally booked Wilderness Lodge before it went non-smoking. Then I decided to go to a DTD hotel. Last night I booked the Dolphin. Going in late Nov early Dec. Before I cancel my DTD hotel, could someone answer a few questions?

Is there any advantage to signing up for a Starwood Card if this will be my first time using it and I don't expect to use it anywhere else?

Does the Dolphin decorate for the Holidays?

I guess I will be on the 9th floor (smoking floor). I booked the Gov rate for a standard room ( I guess they call it a traditional room) What request for room location should I make for a nice view of Epcot?

Has anyone been to their SPA? How was it and does anyone know where I can get a menu and prices of services?

I understand that I can have them empty the mini-bar fridge and have use of it for a fee of 20.00 for my entire stay. (the Hilton charges 10.00 a day)for my 11 night stay that is quite a savings.

Is there anything special I can do there as a special treat for myself? For example is there a way I can order flowers for my room?

How often do the busses run to MK? I have an early reservation at the Crystal Palace on a non-EMH morning Do they go that early or do I need to get a cab?

How is the transportation in general? That is one of the drawbacks to the DTD hotels.

Is there any indication or rumor that the Dolphin will also go non-smoking before the end of the year?

Starwood go ahead and join there have been lots of reports of upgrades with the first time using the card.

The Dolphin does decorate beautiful for the holidays. I believe there are pictures of the rooms but I do not see any holiday photos at http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_dol.htm

Request an Upper East Wing Unobstructed view of Epcot. Nice view of illuminations from although it is a hike to the room. You can put in room request at www.swandolphin.com

I have not been to the spa but you can check out the website at www.swandolphin.com and there is information there but I am not sure aobut the prices. I

don't know about ordering flowers but I am sure someone else can help you.

The transportaion system is great at the Dolphin. They will run the buses early just like the other resorts for early reservations. We love the ease of the boat transportation to Epcot and MGM. The buses to the parks come like the other resorts every 20 minutes.

You will love the Dolphin. We have stayed there many times in a Jr. Suite and it was great! We joined DVC and no only go there occasionally but we still think its a great place to stay.

:)

Oh ya, I just got upgraded to a corner king w 2 balconies, no charge. Why, because I am a member. I have been upgraded every time and everytime I go to other Starwoods hotels. It's free, sign up already.

Well we're here right now on the 9th floor and there is no smoking around us. We're 9 west. Just watched Illuminations from the balcony!

Check the website. They have a list in the room. It is expensive.

We have a complimentary frig d/t DH's food allergy.

Busses here are the same as any Dis hotel. You will get to your ressie w time to spare.

Great.

Like I said, I haven't seen anyone smoking anywhere.

Have a great trip. We are!!! I wouldn't give up the Heavenly Bed for any Dis hotel.:cloud9:

I would think the Dolphin will fall in line with all the other Disney resorts and the Swan, 100% no smoking.

When I was there last year, they even made workers, working on the Swan roof, put out their butts, as they were not in the smoking area. :thumbsup2

We just booked our 2008 stay at the Swan for June 6-15! This will be my in-laws first visit to Disney and I am so excited to get everything planned! I love all the beautiful pictures included on this thread! I definitely think we selected the right hotel! I know I'm going to need lots of advice so after I read through this entire thread look out for tons of questions!!
