Can retired teachers get the discount? How many rooms can you book on the teacher discount?

Thank you.

I am not sure about retired teachers. However, if you have an active state teaching certificate, it might suffice. I have shown my teaching certificate on all my visits and that was sufficient. Although, I had a pay stub and a school letterhead with me just in case. You can book 3 rooms with the discount.

Hi, I went back couple pages and see that the Club Level is still NO MORE! Quick whine... I wish they'd bring it back.....I also really liked Mama T and Thabo, too.

Anyway, is turndown service standard at the S/D? :confused3 Used to have it on the club floor, don't know if it is offered anymore. It's a little thing, but I love it!

Thanks!:goodvibes

We were at the Swan the first week of December. We called housekeeping and asked for turndown service during our stay. No problem. :thumbsup2

Just an FYI for this marvelous thread. We were at the Dolphin in December (LOVED IT!!!). East wing, no mold issues. And self parking was $9.00, not $8.00.

Sure would love to see a few photos from that trip! :lmao:

Does everyone know the valet parking is now $16 a night? My DH almost fainted when he heard that! We were there over the weekend and enjoyed the food at Picabu (the nachos are HUGE) and the beef hot dogs and fries were really good! The Grotto pool was freezing cold!!! The small pool by the lap pool was tolerable for a short time, but we were swimming after dark and are Forida residents who thought it was too cold. People from northern states were laughing at us! The hot tub was nice. Too many teenage cheerleaders hanging out (literally hanging out of their bikinis) in the hot tub and resturants though.

We walked over to the Yacht club and watched Illuminations one night, we could almost see it from our room, but not quite! Learned that if we wanted a bacony room it would be a $30 fee upcharge. Paid the $149 teacher rate.

All in all we enjoyed our stay but had many more problems than normal - toilet running al night then it stopped flushing - I guess the chain fell off or something, dust everywhere, old soap left in the tub, a bottle of WINE left in the cabinet next to the mini bar instead of locked inside of it. The food outside of the mini bar was all expired in October - Just some weird things.

That's a bummer Ali, we've never run into those problems before. I guess it can happen anywhere. If I had seen old soap in our bathroom, I would've called down to housekeeping immediately. It's best to address problems like that right away, especially with the toilet running and wasting water.

I'm not sure about the valet parking charge as we never use it.

I'm glad your stay was somewhat enjoyable anyway, did you happen to take any photos from the view you had? I'd love to see them! :)

Someone I met through the kids tae kwon do class said he bought into Starwood years ago and only pays $7 each night and gets a suite. I want that! :goodvibes

Great picture, kimmar! :thumbsup2 It brings back great memories. :)

It is nice to see some of us "ole time" S/D fans back posting here.

...yeah....* sigh * .....this pic was taken when my DS was in 1st grade...he's in 7th grade now.....my, how time flies....

[...I can post more S/D pix, if anyone is interested....]

Hi Everyone,

Have a question -- does anyone know which resort Dolphin or Swan has the better view of EPCOT and MGM?

I plan on staying there during my anniversary this year and would love to get a room that overlooks either or both parks.....or does anyone have a suggestion on a view?

I would love to sit in a balcony and be able to see a firework show or something -- is that possible from S/D?

TIA,

Jodi

Can someone describe the slide at the Dolphin to me. The kids saw the pic at CSR and now want to swim at that pool!!! Anyone know how long it is. I haven't been able to find any pics.

It is possible to sit on your balcony while watching the fireworks from Epcot! We've done it many times. You'll want to request the outer most east wing.

For a great view of MGM, you'll need a west view room.

Not sure on the length, but it's pretty tame in comparison to the slide at CSR.

The slide at the S/D is partially enclosed and not as long or as curvy. Here is the only photo I have of the slide. (click on URL below)

Although I do like the main pool at CSR, I prefer the Grotto pool area of the Swan Dolphin. :)

I called the Dolphin and the slide is 120 feet long. That was long enough to impress the kids..:cool1:

Also does the S/D have any Disney theming?? Will I know I am on Disney property if I stay there? Are there refillable mugs?
