The higher up, the better the view. Try and ask for a room on the east side of the building on one of the wings. Tell them you want an Epcot fireworks view. Good luck!

Blondie, when should I make this request??? When I check in (December) or should I have them note it now in the reservation???
Thanks!!!:wave2:

hi all, i'm staying at the dolphin next week for a business trip, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to/from the airport (i won't be renting a car). Does the DME go to the Dolphin? What is the typical cab rate? Is there a shuttle or should I look at Mears?

Thanks in advance!

I have a chance to stay at the nurses rate of $169 a night. We (DS8) and I will be driving in after midnight on a Thursday, going to MK and MNSSHP that Friday and leaving Saturday morning to go on a DCL cruise. How far is this resort from MK? Are there Disney busses to take us? Could we walk to the monorail at Epcot and take it to MK? Boy, I know that's a lot of questions but I'm trying to finalize some plans. Thanks for all your help!pirate:

Edited to add one more question.
The person I spoke with said that October is a big convention month there. Will that matter in the noise factor?

DME will not take you to or from the Dolphin. Here are a couple of links where you can find coupons for a towncar... it's my preference since my family are the only passengers.

Yes, there are buses to MK from the Swan & Dolphin! You would have to walk "through" Epcot to get to the monorail (you'd enter at International Gateway - the back entrance) - you'd need a ticket to do that. Are you just going to the party or do you have passes for park entry too?

I wouldn't worry about the convention crowd. We've stayed there (and other Disney resorts) when they were full of conventioneers and never had a problem. October is Food & Wine Festival time at Epcot so there will be plenty of us there enjoying that! :thumbsup2

You can use Disney transportation from the Dolphin. It works just like the Disney resorts and picks up about every 20 minutes or so. I think going to Epcot and taking the monorail would be out of the way and take a lot longer. We have taken the monorail from MK to Epcot and enjoy the Illuminations etc. and then taken the boat taxi back to the Dolphin. We have stayed here many times while conventions are there. Although there is more activity around the resort it does not really affect noice level it's a huge resort. Happy planning :)

We've always enjoyed our stays in the Swan and the Dolphin (I think between the 2 we've been there 5 times) but I haven't been there in over a year. We're staying there this week starting Wed.

A few questions:
- Do they still have those blue green coupon books that offer $$ off some of their restaurants and other little perks. And, also the kids eat free card?

- Does "Mama T" still work in the concierge lounge? She is also so kind to my son.

- Normally we rent a car from the airport and return it at WDW the next day. But, my husband is going back separately. I need transportation to the airport from the Swan. The Mears shuttle wants me to leave 3 hours before the flight and the other options (town car, taxi) are expensive. Anyone have a coupon or discount rate?

There are coupons for FL Tours on wdwinfo.com transportation page and mousesavers.com for Happy Limo. We were told they would pick us up 3 hours prior to plane departure but I told them it was too soon so they arranged a later pick up.

We can't wait for our 4th Dolphin stay in August!

Which floor/room would you recommend?[/QUOT

Do you think it would be worth switching reservations to a Disney Resort if free dining comes out in August?
(We have a family of 7) and would love the free meals, but we'd have to downgrade to a moderate to get as good a price as the Dolphin teacher rate.
Any opinion???

It couldn't hurt to call now so they can make a notation on your reservation, and then about a 4 days before you arrive. :)

The S/D did away with the club level/concierege lounge a while back. I don't know if Mama T still works elsewhere within the resorts or not. Maybe someone else knows the answer. :confused3

I thought another S/D DISer fan posted that MamaT retired. I think that post was a while ago.

Great picture, kimmar! :thumbsup2 It brings back great memories. :)

It is nice to see some of us "ole time" S/D fans back posting here.

Can retired teachers get the discount? How many rooms can you book on the teacher discount?

Thank you.

Just an FYI for this marvelous thread. We were at the Dolphin in December (LOVED IT!!!). East wing, no mold issues. And self parking was $9.00, not $8.00.
