That is correct, you cannot charge merchandise bought at the parks on your Swan/Dolphin room key.

Thanks Blondie...Can you charge dinner that you eat at the Swan or Dolphin to your room? Or any of the merchandise you find at the shop(s) at the Swan or Dolphin?

Again TIA! :)

Is package delivery available?

We were at the Swan last month and were able to charge items from the restaurants (including Picabu) from both the Swan and Dolphin to our room. I did not try the gift shops, but I'm pretty sure that you can.

Just wanted to add that I stopped by the Swan last week and they are working diligently at the new restaurant where Palio used to be - Mangino's. There are pictures of what it will be like up - I'll try to post them soon. FWIW, I absolutely loved the Swan/Dolphin and with a discounted rate, it's hard to beat! I really never missed not being able to charge w/ a KTTW. My S/D card got us into EMH and our room, we needed to take our AP"s no matter what and so all we ended up carrying was one extra thing - our credit card. It's a great place, with a wonderful location.

Is there any particular thing that stands out in anyone's mind about staying at the Dolphin versus any of the other WDW resorts? I know it is a Sheraton property and you can't use your KTTW but other than that, are there any downsides to not staying in the other WDW resorts?

The only other "downside" I can think of would apply only if you're flying to Orlando. You can't use DME. Hardly enough to keep us away!!! We've had 4 wonderful stays @ the Dolphin over the last 2 years and have another one booked for June! :yay:

What about a package? If we stay here would we still be able to purchase a package - we just took a trip on the Dining Plan and really want to do it again.

Hey, Laura! I've followed you over from the AKL FAQ to this one! I'll be at the Swan in June. Great minds think alike.

How about a Bird's Eye View of the S/D to brighten your days (compliments of Microsoft Virtual Earth)?:

...and here's one more (this one I took last month) of the Swan near sunset from the World Showcase:

I'll be there with DS and SIL from the 16-20...second stay there!

For all of you that use SPG points to book stays at the Swan or Dolphin, you may want to consider using any points you have to book a stay in the next few weeks. On February 1, SPG is going to be reassigning about 1/3 of the program hotels to higher categories, and from what I can tell, the Swan and Dolphin are likely to be moved up to a Cat. 5. If you book a stay before the change, you will have the current Cat. 4 rate locked in - and I think you can book something like 13 months out.

Nope, no dining plan if you stay at the S/D. Since they are not owned by Disney, they can't participate in some Disney stuff....such as DME, dining plans, charging back to your room.
But, I have to say...after 12+ trips to WDW and staying at WDW owned resorts, I was very curious about the S/D. So, I booked the Dolphin for my stay in early Dec. It was wonderful. I had a terrific room, the service was wonderful. Granted, it wasn't over the top, in your face Mickey Mouse 24/7. But, that was okay. I'm going back for two nights in few weeks, staying at the Swan this time. I can't wait to find out what my dh and my 13 y/o dd think of it.
